Hey JD Wow these guys really were evil I couldn't believe it. 😢 My heart sunk I honestly didn't think they would kill the kids... after hearing what the mother said and this is no excuse for what they did but it makes you wonder if there could have been mental illness in the family?? Or just a horrible upbringing maybe they were horribly abused?? Still no excuse for what they did but they were sure full of hatred and evil.

They were not just bad guys, they were pure evil. It's crazy to think, that many years ago, compared to today.. would anyone be shocked to hear this happening today? Great story, and thanks for the telling. I will say that i think that, although the tombstone was placed by the Adair family (which was a good gesture) they had the gall to call them "Victims of Southern Reconstruction", instead of "Victims of the Adair Family" What a disgraceful way to try to skate on their degenerate family's guilt. Thank you for that comment,Bryan, I do my best to present the facts and let people draw their own conclusions regarding the tombstone. Yes, the Adair family placed it there many years later I thought it was very interesting and that’s why I put it in the video twice. It’s also very interesting that they chose to say the family was victims of southern reconstruction, during my research there was absolutely zero evidence to support that claim

Probably psychopathy? (Coupled with Civil War atrocities...) Makes me wonder if the brother inlaw who escaped, or the Adair brother's father, were any better?! (Sick "sadistic" people, do e- vile things... and it's often, "generational.") And there's often both a "genetic and environmental" factors. (And the 'argument' that "evil deeds stem from demonic, possession?" But 'psychos' have no true 'human' feelings, conscience... nor any, remorse.)

I lived in Rutherford Co for a while. Graduated HS there and worked as a Town Police Officer and part-time Deputy Sheriff. I moved away and never looked back. There are some wonderful people there but in all my years as a City police Officer in another state, I never found a group of people that can be as cutthroat as some of the Rutherford inhabitants. I won't name people but Golden Valley, Dark Corner, Caroleen, Henrietta, and Cliffside to name a few spots.

@@Esb906 Thank you for the reply. Believe it or not most "feuds and grudges" come from early disagreements between Democrats and Republicans. Much of Appalachia was NOT pro-slavery. In most of Appalachia, the vote to secede was a close call. In VA, it was so close that West VA became its own state in support of the US. Those struggles for political power post-war led to extreme violence and long-lived hatred. Check out the story of the Hillsville Massacre. Children of Civil War veterans killing over local power.

@@Esb906wrong. Civil war didn’t mean much to mountain communities. We didn’t have a dog in the fight of king cotton. Plenty of abolitionists came from Appalachia. The dislike of lawmen isn’t about civil war. It’s about being left alone.

It’s not about being cutthroat it’s about self sufficiency. My family is from dark corner in Greenville county sc. specifically highland/glassy mountain … before meth moved in , 99% of folks here were God fearing , and decent. As long as you kept your word, and didn’t try to impose your will on them. This is where the disconnect between law enforcement and mountain people comes in. When you’ve been entirely self sufficient for generations , it’s going to take several decades to kill that spirit. And it’s truly a shame that anyone would want to. A good lawman would have been friends first. A member of that community, and lawman last. I’m not trying to argue. I’m just pointing out what I see from your post. You post it as an outsider trying to tame a people. Thats why you got what you got. 😅. These folks will touch the 3rd rail so to speak. Digging a hole doesn’t take long. The United states was built by men who touched the 3rd rail. It’s a shame that we don’t have a whole country like my community. There’d be less need for cops. And people would act right. Now. After meth. All bets are off. These kids have no sense of duty. Community or pride. I guess the feds got their wish. To tame the hill folks.

@@puttervids472 I apologize You may have misunderstood my meaning and that's my fault. The cutthroats I am referring to are not the rugged rural people of the area. I am expressing a personal observation about "Criminals" as a whole. The people who are "Criminals" from that area are far more dangerous and "cutthroat" than the "gangsters" I dealt with in a larger city up north. Part of that may be exactly what you are saying but if I had my Druthers I would rather be chasing some MS13 member up a dark alley than Chasing a Crump through the woods of Golden Valley Rutherford Co. Please accept my apology if I offended anyone.
