Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting wholetime firefighters while challenging the myths around being a firefighter.
Firefighter Francesca Jordan was told you have to be super fit to join the fire service.

“Apparently, I’m not fit or strong enough to be a firefighter.
“Apparently, you have to be super fit to join the fire service.
“But if you want to be a firefighter and you’re prepared to put in the work, then anyone can do it.
“We also have a full fitness guide and training plan that you can use before the fitness test so you know exactly what you need to do.”
