I think it's time to stop waiting on Catholic Bishops and expecting anything from them. This generation of them are never going to come out of their Ivory Towers, and we, as lay Catholics, need to step up our own game.
@royquick-s5n We've waited around patiently for years for any leadership or direction while everything around us falls apart. It's clear now there's no leadership coming for the foreseeable future. Until that day, there's plenty we as lay Catholics can and should be doing.
@@martinmartin1363 Or is it that attention is not focused on them because of the ulterior motives of media or a beholder? Recently some clergy have been defrocked (or moved) because of pedophilia or other homosexual conduct. There are the reactionary TLM people too. They are "good"?
@@martinmartin1363 Clergy defrocked today seem to be pedophiles or clergy way out of step with conciliar decrees and the Vatican? They are "good." Secular media, specially, may ignore effective Catholic bishops because of bias alone.
Thank you Mark. A great summing up. Let there be multitudes of Catholics gathering in Eucharistic processions, rosary rallies, prolife marches, pilgrimages - being seen to be Catholic and unafraid. May our windier bishops begin to earn their pay too!
Just come back from mass holy day of obligation, the assumption of our blessed mother Mary, listen to the Gospel, wonderful, I must say I was very impressed with the bishop of Nottingham who said no to Lgbtq in our schools, he is definitely a good shepherd. We need to become super strong Catholics and Christians, people think we are weak because we follow Christ teachings, but we are strong
Yes Jane this was good from Bishop McKinney, but I must say it is a change of direction from him which has come about because he is being influenced by good actors (thank God!).
@@HoldFast-r7g I know that the diocese office was being picketed by lgbt+++ but the bishop stood fast, and so he should, we should be doing our part too, by saying no to this abhorrent act. Has Catholics we need to be super strong in our faith and the Gospels
I am in Australia, worked in hospital as admin officer, and when they employed Muslim man as manager, he removed my desk after 2pm which was impossible for me to do the job and union or HR just ignored me so I left and that was my livelihood, so I know what it will be in future when Muslims are in power, no justice no humanity no love they hate us, and all these people in union or HR are fulling themselves as they let such injustice to happen
@@royquick-s5n Muslims are all the same by their own commitment to Islam which does not embrace the dignity of the human being, respects nothing other than than Allah, the Quran and Mohommed's writings; their goal, yes as a group, is world domination through conversion or death. These are their beliefs as written in the Quran and Mohammed's writings. They even kill their own children if they convert! Women have no status and are property of their fathers or husbands. This conflicts directly with Western culture and there is no appeasing them but through conversion. Now to your point? Not every Muslims massacres, treats others disrespectfully but they ALL DO SUPPORT those that do and that is the crucial distinction!
The fall started from Henry VIII, a fall that is still heading towards the bottom of the vast chasm HE created. A gamekeeper turned poacher! If the Catholic faith had been left intact I'm sure we'd be in a better position now. As for the Bishops? They've been too silent for well over a generation, and this has had its consequences, almost all negative. They have the voice and position, they have the power.....USE IT!
@@royquick-s5n I think Roy, reading my comment a little more carefully may help. "The fall started from", is the key, without Henry VIII the protestant Edward VI, Catholic Mary and protestant Elizabeth's actions wouldn't of happened. Henry VIII was both the prime mover and catalyst in the downfall of Catholicism in the UK, all for selfish and irreligious reasons. The Acts of Succession, The Acts of Suppression, The Dissolution of the monasteries etc... So, yes, HE is the founder of the fall, He created the chasm, the one the UK is falling deeper and deeper into.
@@royquick-s5nCause and effect....Henry the cause, which lead to the effect...the fall of UK Catholicism...Other than that your comment is totally incoherent to me, as again you've ignored anything I've said previously.
Martin Luther caused more chaos. He made Scandinavian n German Monarchs break away from the Church forming lutheranism. Anglicanism never rejected purgatory and saints days. They also didn't print everyone Bibles and try to remove James, Hebrews n Revelation from the Bible
A timely piece indeed, made all the more salient by the secular sources now left this realm who warned us ahead of time about what was to come. May God have mercy on us all & give us winsomeness and love as we address these issues both in the U.K. & globally.
I wonder if our political leaders have considered what would the response woud be if, instead of 'refugees and immigrants' flooded our cities but soldiers from Syria, Rwanda... it seems that in the West, we have indeed lost greatly when we abandoned Christianity- our minds are darkened- the Muslims have outsmarted us very easily! They have invaded without s shot being fired for we faied to see the invasion of their army!

I had posted this earlier today on the Two Tier Policing video but think it is apropos here as applied to the failure of Catholic leadership: As an American babyboomer whose father fought in WWII, I grew up with the history of the war as taught by my parents. Watching in shock as rioters gather and reading of the horrors that have been ignored in Rotherham and elsewhere, I cannot but recall the phrase, "history repeats itself." In the events leading up to WWII, Chamberlain adopted an appeasement policy toward Hitler and the Third Reich, which to an outsider, appears to be the position of the current government in England in relation to the Islamists. Once it became clear to Chamberlain that his policy was seen as weakness by Hitler, he had the humility to issue this statement: Everything that I have worked for, everything that I have hoped for, everything that I have believed in during my public life has crashed into ruins. There is only one thing left for me to do: that is devote what strength and power I have to forwarding the victory of the cause for which we have sacrificed so much. We must pray that current leaders find the same humility and courage to admit the errors of their position and come to realize as Chamberlain did that: It is perfectly evident now that force is the only argument Germany understands and that "collective security" cannot offer any prospect of preventing such events until it can show a visible force of overwhelming strength backed by the determination to use it. ... Heaven knows I don't want to get back to alliances but if Germany [Islam] continues to behave as she has done lately she may drive us to it. Let us pray also that God will raise up another leader like Winston Churchill to strengthen and unite the British people again and holy men like Thomas More and John Henry Newman to lead us Christians!
Chamberlain knew full well that war was the intention of the British State and tried to save British lives. For that crime he has been hung by the neck by the deep State for ever more. As for Germany; it's still occupied by the US and they have no choice but to accept the allied version of events.. I don't! At the end of the day the Allies were in no hurry to stop Germany's crude oil supplies because that would have ended the war within a few months... Churchill was a drunken warmonger who lied about his 'adventures' in Sth Africa and committed geno - side against the German civilian...no thanks!
@@royquick-s5n Fail to follow- you appear to prefer one sentence remarks that add little to true communication. Let’s begin with the definition of scapegoating to ensure we understand each other. Scapegoating is the blaming of a person or group of persons for something someone else did. Now let’s turn to an examination of the Islam religion. According to the Quran and the writings of Mohammed, the goal of Islam is world domination by the conversion of all to Islam or the death of those refusing to convert. To Islamists, that is the sole way to peace in the world. Islam, by its own definition is intolerant and violent by nature. Islamic violence has been persist over the centuries to this day. Beheadings, stabbings, bombings and terrorist attacks to buildings and planes in Western countries cannot be discounted. This is not to ignore the suffering of those targeted in the Middle East or Africa. It is clear from the record, Islam is a worldwide terrorists organization. The naïve response is to say immediately, “But not all Muslims commit terrorist actions and therefore it is unjust to hold all Muslims responsible.” Here it must be noted that proper distinctions must be made to avoid this simplistic view. While all Muslims may not behead others, crash planes into buildings, etc… ALL Muslims SUPPORT those that do! (Ex: protestors in America chanting “Death to America!) No other culture celebrates the mass killing of innocents. The most chilling behavior for non-Muslims, however, is the readiness for Muslims to torture and kill their own family members: brothers, sisters and children in the name of Allah for converting or being gay or simply appearing to not uphold the Quran. Therefore taking Islam at its word from the Quran and observing their actions, it cannot be stated that they are be blamed unjustly for things they have not done, but being held responsible for those which they have and that is not scapegoating. As immigrants, Muslims refuse to assimilate into any other culture. They collectively move into a town or city, create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, forcing residents out of their own community. This is apparent in Germany, France, England and the USA. Once the local residents have been forced out, they have a political stronghold and a voting block and a territory from which they can promote their radical ideology and fortify their position which includes weaponry. Now what any of this has to do with me being an attorney or scapegoating escapes me! Any talk of appeasement with such a group is as foolish as Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement in the face of Hitler and the Third Reich!
@@royquick-s5n I have replied to this previously but the response seems to lost somehow! I fail to find any logic in your comment. The Jesuits have taught that true intelligence is the ability to make roper distinctions. The comparison of Jews and Muslims fails miserably to meet this standard. The Jewish religion NEVER advocated the elimination of any other group as the Muslim religion does. Have you read the Quran? The goal of Islam is world domination through conversion or death! Any non-Muslim is considered an infidel! Even if you not read the Quran, do you ever listen to the news? Did you see the Twin Towers explode with innocent people jumping to avoid being burned alive? What about the terror attacks on flights? Most chilling, however, are the numerous acts of torture or killing of their own family members guilty of being homosexual or converting! So your question is sadly lacking any basis in fact. Furthermore, what this has to my being an attorney is also lost.... justice is a virtue and justice must be pursued for those who have been driven from their towns, homes, family, etc... through Muslim threats and intimidation. THINK before you pose questions please!
While we should expect much of our church and its leaders and clergy we should remember we are one body. If the body is weak then all its members will suffer. So every morning we should ask the person in the mirror what is that they going to contribute and have contributed. God Bless. Great podcast.
I just for the life of me cannot fathom how our religious leaders are so blind. As men of faith have they not taken ANY interest in learning about Islam & it’s history?! Do they never open a newspaper? Do they sincerely buy whatever platitudes are fed to them by Imams? Is it just cowardice? Or are they so riddled with faith in the multi faith myth that they’ve relativised themselves into Godlessness? It is so utterly dispiriting that in itself it’s a cruelty to Christians, inflicted on us by our own and in a time of sincere temporal and spiritual need, danger even. I’m beginning to ask if there’s not perhaps some ‘hardening of hearts’ in operation to some greater purpose such is the absolute absence of any rationality, contact with reality or rootedness in the Bible.
Izslime is not a cult but a totalitarian, theocratic, man-made, political ideology with legal, economic, social, military facets and some badly-plagiarised pseudo-religion woven into it. Conflicting with Judeo-Christian values of the 'Western' world, it's hell-bent on destroying them.

What the authorities of the Church don't seem to understand is that trying to placate an enemy only results in the enemy becoming more aggressive and eventually turning on the placaters. Hitler and Poland and Poland's "allies????" are an good example but it is not the only example history if full of examples.
Let's praise God for our good Bishops and pray for those who are too fearful to speak. If we were in their shoes, might we but a bit afraid like the apostles when they ran away. God gave them a second chance

Catholicism and Islam are incompatible. As Catholicism decreases in these islands Islam will increase as nature abhors a vacuum. The post conciliar bishops are entirely focussed on managing decline and exhibit no interest in propagating the Faith. Since the hierarchy have abandoned their posts, (in the words of St John Fisher, "the fort is abandoned by those who should have defended it") Catholics need to seek out faithful priests and learn their Faith, being mindful of the first words in the creed of St. Athanasius to adhere to the Catholic Faith which is necessary for salvation.
@@royquick-s5n The Muslims have not received the memo unfortunately. Like a lot of the documents of Vll Nostra Aetate is hopelessly naive with regard to the enemies of the Church. Pretending that Islam is not utterly against the Gospel is a fairy story Christians can ill afford to be telling themselves. "Does the Muslim religion condemn those who profess the divinity of Jesus Christ and adore Him? Yes. The Quran, its central religious text, teaches: "The Christians say, 'The Messiah is the son of Allah.' That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved (before them). May Allah destroy them". (Surah 9:30) And: "Fight those People of the Book who do not believe in Allah, nor in the Last Day, and do not take as unlawful what Allah and his messenger have declared as unlawful, and do not profess the faith of truth; (fight them) until they pay jizyah (a tax) with their own hands while they are subdued." (Surah 9:29) Taken from "Flee from Heresy - A Catholic Guide to Ancient and Modern Errors" by Bishop Athanasius Schneider".
@@royquick-s5n I'm unsure what your point here is. The book was published in July 2024. Bishop Schneider is on record saying that some of the statements in the Council documents need correction and indeed in the present volume states that, "God has even permitted some popes to affirm some doctrinal errors and ambiguities in the past, ...including certain affirmations in the texts of the second Vatican Council".
Can we really take much solace in God wins in the end? After our current tribulation on earth we go on to divine judgement. But we called to bring the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ to our fellow man & we should not cop-out of that responsibility.
While I do not recall the exact dates I do recall the counsel given to sister Lucia the Fatima seer by the mother of God and communicated to father Fuentes by Lucia: you must not relay on the pope or the bishops to see that the right things are done. Jesus has already tried that and it failed. You must individually see to the welfare of your soul and the souls of those God sends your way. This is my paraphrase of what she said. It has stuck in my mind because it seemed to speak to our times.

I think Catholics must embrace reality. I struggle when I hear the word "dialogue". There is a time for a dialogue and there isnt, "shake the dust from our sandels". We dont talk about dialogue between prisoners and the warden to reach a compromise. Prisoners are fully human but their rights are contingent. Europe belongs to Europeans.
The Feast of the Assumption is NOT a holy day of obligation in all countries. In Canada for example, we only have two holy days of obligation: Christmas, The Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ - December 25 and The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God - January 1.

I sense it's too late. One thing about the end of time, it seems to me that we will see to some degree all previous conflicts present at the end: a depression, Islamic attacks, Communism, schism in the Church, etc.
They lead the Church from behind - they find it less exciting. Not always, of course. When the Church is in full retreat, you will then be likely to find them right out in front!
Those in power whether be church or government don't care about people. We are useful for giving them money only. Morality and sin don't exist in their minds. The world will self-distruct. God said he would not destroy the world again but rather humanity would destroy the world. We have been on this road for many years now, in fact all the way back to the 1950's.

I don’t want to be unduly critical of the Catholic Bishops of England, since they may, very well, be more pleasing to Almighty God than I am, in their individual Christian lives. However, in terms of actually getting anything done, their record does not show much ability. Firstly, in 1966, they decided to adopt the Jerusalem Bible for use in the Lectionary, but, since it does not comply with the norms for Biblical translation set out by Pope Pius XII in 1943 (a direct, word for word, literal translation from the best of the original texts) it was decided to adopt the RSV for all official purposes (teaching, study, translating texts in documents from Rome, etc). So, we had two versions of the Sacred Scriptures running side by side. Then, it was decided to revise the Jerusalem Bible. The first revision was worse than the original, the second revision was even worse, so these revisions were discarded. The second edition of the RSV was therefore used for all official purposes. Then, finally, it was decided to move from that to the ESV (that is to say, in simple terms, the current revision of the King James Bible) both for use in the Lectionary and for teaching and study purposes. So far so good - a logical approach, at last, which complies with the norms set out in 1943. A single version of the Sacred Scriptures for use for all purposes. Then, someone had the bright idea of altering the text of the ESV to include “gender neutral language”. Now, earlier, the Canadian Bishops had asked for consent to use the NRSV. While Rome initially raised no objection, later, after it had actually been adopted, Rome decided that the NRSV, since it used gender neutral language, failed to comply with the norms set out in 1943 so it was not to be used in any other English speaking countries, although it could continue to be used in Canada, as it would be too awkward to replace it. So, the English Bishops could have decided to use the NRSV - which is, basically, very similar to the ESV but uses gender neutral language (obtaining a similar concession from Rome as in the case of the Canadian Bishops). However, that would be far too simple! They decided to go through the Lectionary readings in the ESV and introduce their own alterations to the text to include gender neutral language. However, after having tried to achieve this for several years, they finally gave up and decided that the task was beyond them and they adopted the Indian Lectionary, which used the ESV with gender neutral language included. However, this hotch potch of a translation cannot equal the literary standards achieve by the translators of the NRSV - a Committee of hundreds of first class Biblical scholars who, having decided to alter the text to include gender neutral language, at least did so in a logical and inconsistent manner. Some of the readings in the new English Lectionary make little sense - sometimes, when the writer uses the word “brethren” it is actually because what he is writing pertains only to men, for example, when he talks about how a man ought to behave towards his wife. So why say “a person should behave towards his wife…etc..” It looks as if some “find and replace system” has been used to replace “brethren” or “brothers” “man” etc with “person” in every case. In my view, the Bishops would have been much better to just stick with the 1966 translation of the Jerusalem Bible. It is reasonably good and reads very well. Full study editions are available to record how the translators have dealt with doubtful original texts. Then, for teaching and study purposes, the original (unexpurgated) ESV could have replaced the second edition of the RSV. The present translation now used in the Lectionary is neither one thing nor the other. Not only that, there is, once again, a two tier system. For the Lectionary, the “expurgated” version of the ESV is used, but, for official purposes, the unexpurgated version is used, since the expurgated version fails to comply with the norms for Biblical translation set out in 1943. So, however hard they try and whatever efforts they make, the Catholic Bishops just don’t seem to know what it is they should be doing, or if they do, they are simply not capable of achieving it.
Thank you for explaining why you are so afraid. Politics is on a lower level than our faith. We belong to the Kingdom of God. Democracy is not an ideal form of government but it is the best we've got. We long for a 'Dictatorship' as long as the dictator is Christ. In the meantime, don't expect Democracy to bring heaven to earth. My own leaning is towards the left.
