unfortunate that the closest you can get with this is screen sharing your iphone to your mac with the new macOS update coming this fall and then screen mirroring to your vision pro from your mac

11:43 I had no preconceived notions about my VP. I find that being a little ADHD, planting my self on the moon or in Joshua tree with my laptop screen and headphones on I drop into the zone really quickly.

I wish people would stop uploading blurry 360 VR videos. The resolution isn’t there yet. 180 VR is the way to go. And it’s not even close. To anybody who’s listening.

I'm surprised Victoria doesn't have the Zeiss lens inserts. Relative to the price of the device, they're not that expensive, and they do make a difference.

It seemed pretty obvious that she doesn't use that device. She doesn't have a keyboard paired to it, nor does she use Siri... and says all the things people said in the first week of release. She uses it like I use my Steam Deck - rarely, and mostly to see what's changed since the last update.

I tried to get them but they weren't compatible with my astigmatism. I ended up getting contacts instead, but for a while, I was using an accessibility mode with some third party lenses.

It seems impractical to take your contacts out every time you want to use the headset.

From what I know I’m pretty sure apple doesn’t allow developers to get the data from the cameras, so it probably could do that but for now not in a meaningful way

I use my Vision Pro 5-6 hours a day non-stop. I love every second of it. Working with multiple virtual screens placed on the ceiling while lying in my chair and surrounded by the Bora Bora environment... it's simply amazing.

Did anyone else have an Apple employee show them the ideal pinch position during the VP demo? Seems like that new clock glance/control center gesture puts your hand in that position. Wonder if that's intentional.

I have enjoyed making immersive 3D videos of some of my favorite beautiful places - gardens, trails, small towns, favorite stores - and then playing them back on the Apple Vision Pro which actually makes me feel I am re-experiencing those places in reality. I have also done the same with conversations with people - many of whom probably will not be around on this earth for too many more years. I usually do my videos with the LEIA LUME PAD 2 - which I think has better 3D quality and better ease of use than the VISION PRO or iPhone Pro MAX for doing 3D videos or photos.

Palmer Lucky said Apple half arsed it by only removing the battery. They need to get everything possible off the headset and combine it with the battery pack. Magic Leap style. Think Visual Walkman, with Bigscreen Beyond sized headset (but with cameras, inside out tracking and eye tracking) instead of headphones. Of course Lucky didn't actually clarify if he thought that would be possible with current technology.

For the cheaper variant Apple should give it a bigger FOV. This will make the experience much better and the lower res screens shouldn’t matter as much.

VR is inherently isolating, and immersive. Using a VR device to do AR works, but goes against the natural strengths of VR, IMO. Its why apple felt eyesight was necessary. Its companies fighting against the inherit nature of the headset, when most people find the best experiences to be immersive workout/meditation or immersive games. Which is why i think the disparity in games and experiences is a big deal, and why recommending AVP over a quest 3 feels impossible, outside of people who really want and can afford the best screen and primarily want to use it to watch non-interactive media. Metas app store in much more varied, interesting, deeper, and has higher quality. Given the reception of AVP, im not sure apple can count on devs carrying the app store and device the way they did for iPhone, without significantly more investment.

I don't understand this discussion about no killer app, nothing to do on it, etc.. there's plenty to do on it. using it as a display is worth the cost alone. what's the iPhone killer app? what's the iPad killer app? what's the Apple Watch killer app?

Love mine and I use it every night to stream movies, shows, and RU-vid! Just waiting for the announced Ultra Wide feature for Mac Virtual Display so I can start using it for work (web development).

Interesting. How long have you had it? I’m also a web dev. Have friends who are AR/VR/XR devs and have been for years with offices FULL of all the hardware. Every one of them still uses normal monitors to do work because none of these are good for productivity. $4000 feels like too much to spend on iPad capabilities and a monitor system. Spend 20 minutes looking at the monitor set up you can get for HALF the cost of this. Do you think this will be supported in 5 years? 10 years? Because those real monitors will be just fine … AND comfortable for daily extended work hours. Don’t forget about headphone dents. You’ve seen footage of people showing that their head LITERALLY deforms from wearing headphones all the time. The headset will do that to you, too.

@@zero11010 I got it since on launch weekend! I stopped using it for productivity for now because my current workstation setup is still good (16” MBP, 5K LG Ultrafine monitor, 12” iPad Pro). But if AVP keeps improving, my plan is to downgrade to 14" MBP and phase out my monitor + iPad. Instead of saving up for a new monitor every 7ish years and a new iPad Pro every 3 years, I’m allocating that money for a new AVP every 3ish years. I foresee my AVP replacing my gaming TV for the next PlayStation console too. If AVP doesn’t progress well in the future, I’ll just reallocate all my AVP money back to monitor + iPad + gaming TV. visionOS 2 addresses of a couple of my biggest pain points: it now supports Bluetooth Mouse and soon the Ultra Wide option Mac Virtual Display. For comfort, I got a head strap add-on from Spigen which helps SIGNIFICANTLY so I can wear it for 3 hours no problem. It’s still a financial gamble but I’m the early adopter type who is willing to spend money to experiment.

I used the vision pro acouple of days ago and to me it's just a Quest 3 with a super high resolution and eye tracking but cost 7 times the amount so I would rather stuck with the Quest 3 as it Meta updates it every single month with new features and doesn't and in that regard I would rather pay less for something that always gets better all of the time than pay 3k more just for 2 features I actually have on another headset I own

The fact VR is still niche after over 30 years tells you all you need to know, its hilarious that Apple thinks that simply rebranding VR "spacial computing" and instructing its developers to never refer to it as "VR" will fix the fundamental problem with VR, that its a more isolating, awkward, uncomfortable and difficult way of doing almost Everything ! People don't want pseudo 3D when they have Actual 3D all around them, commonly known as the Real world !

I’ve never tried the Vision Pro, and it’s just way too expensive right now. But I can’t wait to own one, once there’s more content available and the price is a LOT better. It may be years, but hopefully not. I’m a loner, though, so this product just fascinates me.

Can you also get any developers to the Vergecast who are working on the Enterprise Apps for Vision Pro. The Pro models will have a clear trajectory of becoming a face computers for professionals and creatives as opposed to regular consumers. There are already great enterprise Apps like Jigspace. Also what do you think about Apple Intelligence coming to Vision Pro?

Apple added a tool to convert a 2D photo into a 3D one, and I want to use that to see Google Street View (or Apple's version) as a 3D, 360° panorama. This is a device people have always said could take you to other places, and with Street View, you can go to anywhere in half the countries in the world.

Apple strategically times product releases for when the market is ready, unlike companies like Google, which often launch products prematurely (e.g., Google Glass). Even with initially lukewarm receptions, Apple persistently refines its products over time (e.g., Apple Watch, iPad), eventually dominating the market, especially as competitors abandon their efforts. This demonstrates Apple's unique ability to nurture products until they achieve widespread adoption. Which is exactly what the Vision Pro needs.

No. The R1 is a literal scam. The AI pin is a neat idea but it doesn’t do more than you can get done with an app. This isn’t a scam. This isn’t a thing that can be replicated with an app. This is closer to Google Glass (except Glass was WAY more innovative than this is). I think this is ahead of its time and the hardware isn’t good enough to make it into a real device at a reasonable cost that people would actually use. That is usually the case with early tech.

Hi Team Verge, Love your channel and keep at it :) I just hope this long format video is an A/B test and you plan to change it soon. This new format of 1 hour videos is difficult to sit through. I see myself spending more time looking at series like Full frame (and others) where tight scripts, great visuals & solid product stories are capturing my attention. I love the quality of the content on the flagship vergecast series, but the packaging can be better.
