Sorry but Mexican nationals run the steel workers unions in california. They took the unions over after Reagan gave amnesty to them. They hire only their family and friends and spanish speakers. Mexicans are good at protesting and union organization. Collectivism is part of Mexico's culture

I wish they spent this much effort on itunes. It won't install on all laptops, like 64 bit window 10. It crashes. Then it gives a dead link which is shocking. Jobs would have a fit if he saw it ... apple has too many dumb programmers with the fake foreign degrees. Brute force is not the right way to program.

Lesson learned: itunes crashes when installing on fast gaming laptops but apples website says the new update is compatible. And after the crash, the itunes app says to click here for the right version. And that clicks goes to a dead link. Which redirects to a useless web page

Really is super interesting seeing the spaceship come together. Makes you wonder where the CEO's office will be in that ring, or the industrial design labs. Think it's super cool and I like the circle design, gives you a feeling of the whole company feeding back into each other.

Even though Apple products are already priced at a premium, the cost of building them in the USA doesn't jive with Wall St./investors expectations of publicly traded company. Board of Directors chief mission: shareholders and long term growth, making products off shore increases ROI. Ernesto Q - I read the article. This was in 2013. With new administration in WH it may soon prove beneficial to reverse the flow of goods where they are made. We have been outsourcing good American jobs out to China for too long. What did it give us? Other than mass unemployment and too many useless doodads, not much. When you look at China, they became in less than 30 years from backward feudal country a world superpower (Just look at some unwanted side shows like militarization of South China Sea and the rest of the world).

Rudy K Corporate America made the decision to teardown and rebuild the factories overseas. Some factories closed due to simple competition or were badly managed. I'm all for creating/saving American jobs and Americans working for a fair wage. The term "rustbelt" is over two decades old. Many Americans at high positions and investors seeking profits were very aware the damage they were doing to middle American family and the American dream. I highly doubt the less regulations, less corporate tax party doing a 180 and making corporation be "good citizens" and pay their fair share. Yes Apple does use every tax loop hole available all over the world. IMHO Europe /UK has the same problem with jobs.

Let's give it a bit of time, hoping the business culture develops during this new administration that will "encourage" building new plants and making more advanced technologies products at home. I look at Tesla, and hope we create this new wave in "Made in USA" and building up back the strong middle class. Less government, more innovation. Let's hope and see. Future could be bright, don't you think?

That would be great if that one level that was just sort of a track in a place where car could drive around so you could exercise and go running in a complete circle or drive around in a complete circle. With that be fun? I'm sure they'll have golf carts in there or something but it would be cool if they did something special since it's very large and very round. They could even have a mini roller coaster that goes along one of the walls

People said that HP's campus was something to be proud of? But it was a typical collection of business-park buildings surrounded by asphalt with a narrow rim of trees. I should not have used the word 'should' in my previous comment, I might have instead used 'might'. As for 'place', I meant, a corporate structure that surrounds itself with nature, instead of paving it over and using trees as 'cell walls' around the property, then having a separated 'landscaped' area at the core. It's like Apple gave the city back a bunch of park land.

Apple's trees came from HP campus. HP's trees were uprooted and stored. Apple cut down HP's big trees and non conforming trees. HP's parking lots of trees. Apple has none. And HP small buildings made the area very walkable for deep thinking and business talk. So much innovation happened there.

Apple's parking garages are roofed with solar, and may have vines covering the outsides... the trees they plan to plant outnumber the ones HP had, and nearly all the pavement is gone, reducing heat-island effect. I get the feeling ya don't care for Apple much, and that's fine. I think what it's doing is really nice.

The Ireland provided Apple illegal aid through a favorable tax arrangement, which violated the European Union’s state-aid rules. Apple is one of the few, if not only company, which uses this loophole. Since 2014, Apple is paying 0.005% tax on European sales!

Had they simply asked? Bullcrap. It's all about the money. Firstly, Apple has a very special case where instead of 12.5%, two Irish government rulings granted the low tax which we see now, and that means not any corporation can get this low ( pun intended ). Someone bribed someone or promised something of a big value, but you're right, everything's 'by the book' if not those rulings. Secondly, U.S. government will pick up the tab for the "unpaid" tax until it's resolved. Cheers, american citizens! If one thing is for sure it's this - the only innovation from Apple is the tax dodging/loop-holing.

Great job Matthew. I think the best tour yet. I'm curious why they planted the inner yard trees in such a symmetrical rather than organic/random way. Also, can anyone answer this . . . ? If this building were in space, and the outer walls were the floor, how fast would it have to rotate for the centrifugal force to match Earth gravity?

R and D needs a lot of equipment on the roof to remove heat from the building. Apple could build a roof over the equipment but that would put too much stress on the bulding during a storm. A solar tarp structure would work but the technology needs more development
