I wasn’t around in 2005 I was born 1 year and 3 months later the iPod video came out but I had a lot experience with iPods and I wish I could go back to 2007 - 2010
I just bought a 5th gen ipod classic. Currently, I own everything Apple that's recent, and the iPhone is fine and great at playing music on the go anywhere I want. But the iPod had something special. It gave you that real connection to music, of ownership. On my iPhone I have access to everything ever made, but on the iPod I have to actually curate what I own and what I want. It's a different experience that you have to have.
Just bought one of these and it should be coming in a couple of days. I’ve been wanting a classic iPod for a couple of months now and I heard that the 5th generation was the best one, so I picked it up. Super excited! Only $40.
Back when it was exciting to see what Apple was going to do next with the iPod!!!! I got the 30gb for Christmas 2005!! I was the bomb, for a few months!! 😂
just got the exact same one at a swapmeet! although the screen doesn't seem to turn off? it only goes dim and i was wondering if it's suppose to be like that or is there a way to shut the whole screen while the music plays?
I absolutely cannot get over him calling it retro in the beginning, this was posted 4/5 years after this beauty came out, that’s like calling and iPhone X retro now (2022)
5th gen did have remote control support, but in a really awkward way. You'd buy the official Apple "iPod Radio Remote', which plugged into the dock connector. you'd then plug in your headphones in the Radio Remote (so the iPod's headphone connector would go unused). The iPod Radio Remote looked like a second generation iPod Shuffle with wires coming out of it. The control scheme was the same too. In addition, plugging in that remote unlocked the radio feature of the 5th gen iPod, allowing you to listen to FM radio broadcasts, but only with Apple ear phones plugged in (as they had a dedicated antenna wired incorporated into them that other headphone lacked).
I have one of these, only I updated it and it says to plug it into a wall socket to finish the update, however when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. Just the same image of a plug and a wall socket but nothing happens. What do I do?
You have a beautiful collection! I am a Click Wheel lover. The bests iPod I had were the Click Wheel ones (5th gen., 1st gen nano and 5th gen. nano). I also had a 1st gen. Shuffle, and two 1st. gen touch. Now a days I lost all of them :( hahaha In my opinion the Click Wheel is part of iPod identity and there's no better control for it. I hope Apple don't discontinue it!
I have the same question as 12rens. Are you going to collect the two u2 iPods? You know the older one with the monochrome screen and the other with video?
OMG! When I was in Detroit, I found one on CraigsList and it was still new, not opened, in the sealed box! I wanted to get it but it was just too much! $250 ... Anyways! I love your video and not only this one but your other ones also! And you have so many ipods! WOW! I love your video! OMG! Please make more videos! They are so awesome!
i still have my 80g 5th generation that i FOUND laying in the street back in 2007. It was brand new the date stamped on it was 2007. It did freeze on me one time and i came here on youtube and found out how to fix the problem. So that's 5 years running with no problems. Just ordered new ipod touch 5th gen 64g.
I just found my moms old ipod 5th gen u2 band special edition now idk where to find the charger and old headphones it’s a bummer it won’t work with airpods
Anyone know if the 5th gen has the exact same sizes/dimensions as the 8th gen? Need to know because I'm getting an Invisible Shield and the 5th gen shield is much cheaper.
@DetroitBORG I have a question, is the 7th gen really a 7th gen? People say it is because of the memory expansion (120 to 160 GB), but I figured you may know...
its 2022 now and i am still looking where to purchase these classic ipods with the click wheels (which was genius) these ipods are incomparable to the new MP3 players that have come out. it was all steve jobs. i wish apple did not discontinue these. i dont want to carry my heavy iphone 13 when doing my morning walk and listen to music.
Was just given one yesterday that was water damaged I took it apart cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and it works just need to order new casing for cosmetics and a battery
Is There Anyway To Tell What Gen I Have? I Mean, If You Buy A Ipod Used And The Person That Sold It Dont Know, Is There Anyway To Find Out? Its A Black Plastic Front, 60G, And Plays Video. Anyone Know?
i just purchased an ipod video 5th gen this ipod on ebay Australia and i was lucky enogut to get it fully brand new.right now i'm also biding on an ipod touch 1st gen brand new and it is even sealed with clear plastic.
@abs2fast2furios I find it weird. especially on like the ipad As the iPad is big and the headphone is at the top you loose a fair bit of 'movement room because of it'
@DetroitBORG i also found an black 80gb 6th gen fully sealed.ipod video 5th gen 80gb fully sealed and right now best of all biding on an Ipod Mini 2nd gen fully sealed in clear plastic.
