Thank you! Your video inspired me again to try to resuscitate my keyboard which has the very same issue. I tried soaking in vinegar for almost 2 days but still the battery cap did not budge. Finally went to a workshop and the machinist milled a deep notch on the cap and had to carefully twist open the cap. I showed your video to him for reference. He put in lot of elbow grease to retrieve two Duracell cells which had completely leaked. He had to drill them out and later cleaned it up with thinner. Finally I cleaned up with IPA and voila!!! The magical moment when it worked!! Aside the actual worth of the keyboard and the costs and efforts, just the satisfaction of seeing it work perfectly provides great happiness!!!

TOP video! just a small difference in what I did: I hollowed out the groove of the battery button so that it was deeper without piercing it. All exactly as described. I am amazed by the resistance of this keyboard .... once the batteries were removed I had no hope it would work ... but everything works correctly!

Never seen such genius design created NOT to allow easy servicing. 🤔 They must be aware of battery erosion problems LOL

honestly these are easier to open to access the board than the newer versions - albeit the membrane is welded on to the frame which is a shame

Thanks for posting this! 😁Got the tips needed to get the stuck screw and corroded battery out. After cleaning with vinegar and lemon juice solution, wiped with isopropyl alcohol. Applied a thin coating (of plastic safe) silicon lubricant to batteries and screw to minimize recurrence. Keyboard is good as new. No more Duracell or Kirkland batteries in critical electronics. More leaks than other brands.

Thanks for the info and video.. mine would't budge, any ideas how to loosen up the battery? Iso propyl alcohol 99% didnt work. May i know what lubricant that you used? Thank you so much ❤

Hi all. Jumping in again with a question. The tiny Phillips screw holding the electronics on my Apple keyboard is too tough to unscrew without stripping the head. I thought of a hair dryer to heat it for awhile, and have yet to try. Any other suggesions out there in Repair2Renew land? Tks in advance. A

fwiw, stuck battery. Pierced small hole in negative end with an awl. Inserted a machine screw (in the awl hole) screwed it in about a half inch into the battery. Grabbed the machine screw w needle nose pliers. Pulled hard and out came the battery. Good luck.

You don't need a blade to take the middle plastic cover off. Just grab it and twist it with your fingers.

My keyboard cover is completely stuck. And i have no table to fix the keyboard. With my own hand is not easy. Maybe I will put the batteries trough plastic cap

Does dipping the whole keyboard in the isopropyl not damage it at all? Also, would 93% Isopropyl work? I bought a keyboard on eBay and it was full of battery acid... which was disappointing.

No dipping in IPA does not damage keyboard. 93% not perfect but better than nothing, but at your own risk

Great video!! I'm having trouble sliding "the guts" out. I removed the small screw which loosened things up but it won't budge when I put my screwdriver underneath that spring & try to slide the circuit board left. Any tips?

I followed the above video and was able to unstuck the battery. I had to scrape the chamber with a screw driver to most of the corrosion out. Otherwise, the new batteries would not go into the channel. But after hours of all that work, my keyboard no longer works. It types letters and symbols by itself. I did not take any other components off, but somehow it got damaged. Too bad!
