Hi, my name is Shane. I am a retired Electronics Technician, with over 30 years of experience. Myself and my wife Karen operate a little "Philanthropic Hobby" call "Repair2Renew" This is a right to repair channel, and we empower everyday people to fix their own stuff. Mostly apple stuff, but we dabble with other electronic gear as well, you cannot be a one trick pony. And even better lest fixable stuff to landfill or the garbage tip !
According to the manual (RX-A3060) the remote control can also be reset back to factory settings, would you recommend going this route along with resetting the amp itself?
Thanks for that video. I only wanted to replace the battery...I don't wanted to disassemble the hole radio... 😭 Anyway... what has to be done...has to be done...
I succeed to power my Yamaha Rx-V371. But there is no sound, it shows on the display the music is on but no sound out on the speakers. I tried to reinstall the firmware but couldn’t find it on internet. Any suggestions please 🙏

My RX-750 stopped outputing any sound from any source. Did restore via internet. Now spotify of CD works, but others have decorder off. With the instructions above it is only showing INIT....CANCEL and not ALL. Would much appreciate help. Is there no old days setting?
Yamaha RX-V675 Before I watched this video from Shane, I was seeing over 150+ “DECODER OFF”errors, watched this video, followed directions, but it’s back to numerous dropped audio signals. Very frustrating! Never used to do this! (I checked TOS, It’s working) Any other bright ideas, to help this frustrating problem? What’s the point in having a receiver, only to not get the constant 7.2 surround experience? Back to Samsung TV Speakers! Do I need to do this “reset,” more than once? Thanks, for any help!
worked...netflix button was stuck on. To check your remote is working..turn on your mobile phone camera and set to selfie mode. Look at the front of your remote on the camera...if it's working there will be a pink light flashing as you press the buttons. Mine was contantly working except when I pressed netflix so I knew the netflix button was giving problems. When I opened it up, there was some stains around the netflix button.
Thanks for the video, much like the others tried all of the button resets only to realise it was constantly trying to send a signal (used camera to show ir). A battery had leaked acid and was on some of the contacts, quick clean and working like new again.
My keyboard cover is completely stuck. And i have no table to fix the keyboard. With my own hand is not easy. Maybe I will put the batteries trough plastic cap
thank you again and again, time after time my receiver lost SUBWOOFER and I need to reset it and after going to the page BACKUP\RESTORE and restoring my settings. Simple restore doesn't helps, need to reset
Hello thanks for your video, I was checking the iFixit page for tools and they said you need a torx security 8 , like TR8. Is it OK to use a simple T8?
I just wanted to say I really appreciated this video. Your close ups were fantastic and it really helped me swap the drive on my time capsule as well. Thank you so much for recording and sharing your video with your comments / tips! I'll just throw in some tips for yourself or others: - The part around ~10:30 for getting the springs back on. You can either preinstall them and gently put the 'core' back into the casing, or you can use a chopstick if you have one laying around if you don't have a spudger - works perfectly. I'd imagine many pens / pencils, or anything else that is thin and cylindrical would also work. - I used plastic guitar picks for the part to open it up. I think it's inevitable that you will leave some marks, but if you use plastic, it won't be too bad. Although frustrating at first, do everything you can do be super gentle. It's almost inevitable that you will break or crack some of the tabs, as they are thin and plastic. The gentler you are, the less you will break. stick a couple plastic picks in, and wiggle wiggle wiggle for a while if your goal is to preserve as many of the tabs as possible. - Depending on the replacement hard drive, you will have to cut some of the rubber gaskets holding the drive in place for it to fit snugly. An sharp thin razor blade (like an exacto knife) is perfect for this. Make sure to cut enough away that it fits snugly as reasonably precise as you can, as my drive was a really tight fit when putting everything back together and I may have missed a couple small chunks I should of cut up more thoroughly on the rubber gaskets to better fit my drive. - I would suggest being careful about the drive you choose, as it's really packed in there so I'd imagine cooling won't be the best ever. I chose a Western Digital red running at 5400rpm. Something that doesn't consume too much power will also likely not produce too much heat. It might also be a good idea to avoid SMR drives in favor of CMR drives, though I don't have the technical expertise to explain exactly why. A laptop drive or 2.5" SSD might also be an idea in an adapter, just remember the SATA connector must be in the same place exactly (which it likely will be with a 2.5" -> 3.5" convertor case). Initially I was not gonna take out the whole thing but watching your video I decided to go all the way so I could clean my fan and clean my unit just that much more thoroughly. My unit was not as bad as yours, but the fan still had some small chunks of dust and blowing it out certainly didn't hurt anything I'm sure. I had to force it back together just a bit, but it did finally after some convincing in a way that I feel confident about the job. I'm a happy camper! Seems to be working great and I hope it work for many years.
That fixed my rx-467. Thanks. This was my main receiver until I found a flagship Pioneer 49txi. Fantastic amp, but right channel and left surround went out. Possibly due to several power outages in a row 🤷♂️ now Yamaha is back in place. Don't know why it glitched on me.
What a fuzz to simply replace a small battery. Is it the manufacturers intention to make it as complicated a possible, so people won't take the effort to replace and buy a new one.
oh no, my magsafe socket is actually burned, but it usually still can charge, but no longer. Do you mind telling me the cost of changing the magsafe socket?
Great video, very thorough! I got rid of mine just before coming across this, but I probably would've been able to get the batteries out backwards with this method. Good stuff.
