Got one at work and I’m loving it!! If I were buying one personally, I’d go Air. The processor/fan on this thing RARELY ramp up, so I’d rather have function keys and the wedge design. But still, amazing machine!! Game changer.

I've had mine for a month as well and I love it. What they did with this chip is outstanding. And you need a jackhammer to put as much as a dent in the battery. Unbelievable.

I just got my late 2020 MacBook Pro M1 last week and I'm loving it. The M1 processor makes a world of difference. I just got the 8 GB model and I swear it's just as fast as my 32 GB iMac desktop and the display is absolutely gorgeous. I could have gotten the 16 GB model, but to me, it just wasn't worth the extra $200 for what I use this laptop for, which is basically just web browsing, some light photo editing, and email, which it's able to do flawlessly. I don't do any gaming or video editing, so I can't speak to that, but I've heard it's amazing for those things as well. I have a feeling that I will be using this thing for years to come.

Thank you for the review. I've finally decided to get the M1 MacBook Pro instead of the Air for photography. I had a Dell XP with Windows 7 that just about died so I retired it when they stopped supporting Win 7 and have been using my MacBook 2015 12" and I'm so tired of the spacebar sticking, it doesn't even have a hard drive but it's the only MacBook that didn't have a fan lol. My XP was soooo loud and running ALL THE TIME I couldn't hear myself think. I'm more than ready!

Watching all these M1 reviews made me realize my 2016 - 27 inch iMac and 2017 - 13 inch MB Pro were ready for an upgrade. So far, the 13 inch M1 MB Pro is as advertised.

Great review and superb upgrade. What puzzles me is why Apple ditched Magsafe. If someone trips over the power lead you simply pop it back in, no damage, no problems. I can't imagine it's as simple with the USB connector.

Even I am using MacBook Pro with M1 chip (with 8 GB of RAM) since last 1 month the performance has been amazing! However, i have two issues, one is my caps lock key is not working properly. I have this since i purchased, earlier it used to be sometimes so I thought i am not hitting the key properly but now of late since last week it seems the problem has increased it doesn’t work properly at all. Another problem is when i turn on my MacBook and when it loads and if i close my lid after i open then my MacBook freezes. Then I have to force restart it using the touch id/power key.

Yup, got mine (MBA) earlier this month. But sadly, been facing issues with Setup Assistant (not responding) since the first boot! If I get to "Sign in with Apple ID/iCloud" prompt, the system gets stuck and there's no escape from the looming beachball of death! It is such an annoyance though. -_-

@@sunitjoshi3573 yes I got mine a couple of months ago. Around August and it's a 13-inch Macbook pro with an M1 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. I wanted to have the 16GB of ram and 512 GB of storage but could get my hands on this one for pretty cheap and I never bought an Apple product before because of the hefty price tags. I love it. Very easy to carry with me and very powerful. Oh yeah, since I bought this Macbook, I also upgraded from my Sony Xperia smartphone to an iPhone 12 Pro. I love the fast data transfer between Apple products through airdrop.since I needed something fast to move over videos for my youtube channel

@@sunitjoshi3573 if you can afford it, I would definitely go for it. I've been a Windows user all of my life and now that I have my Macbook, I never plan to go back. But make sure to get the M1 at least or M2 but that one is still very new and therefore costly. Especially when it comes to video editing, which I'm learning more and more about and want to get better at, with the M1 chip, the Macbook pro doesn't even get warm and it renders very fast as well.

Thanks for the review. I like the 13" pro form, sad they are getting rid of it. I have the 2014 version that's 3.5 lbs. The 2020 m1 version is 3 lbs, so seems like a great machine to travel with.

The thing is, all youtube channels say how great is the M1 on editing and video stuff. I”d like to see how good is on microsoft office, 88 tabs open, slack, zoom, and everything in the same time as this is my work environment and thats where the intel i5 air 2020 freezes and drops down to non usable. Just always go for 16GB version. My experience after a month with 8GB version is that it swaps a lot if you run 20 tabs (tabs in safari often average over 1GB each, google gmail for example 1.2GB). So you notice the pauses when you switch between apps quite frequently (especially if you run Outlook and Teams).

If you're a creator, the 16GB is absolutely worth it. Being a photographer, 8GB was decent, but no cigars.

Max Tech debunked the 8GB vs 16GB issue. Only in extreme extreme situations will you see the benefit of 16 over 8. With Intel, yes. With the M`, no. 8GB is even good enough for content creators. I got an M! mac for $500 last week. It will be my bridge from my 2019 I7 16GB to to the new M3 Macbooks later this year.

I would suggest get more ram as 256 gb of storage is a lot and you can use a external storage device later but you can't upgrade ram down the road.

Great review! I’m holding out for the MacBook Pro with more usbc ports. I’m using a 2014 MBP right now so it’ll be a huge upgrade lol.

I’ve been using my 2010 Macbook Pro 😆 Still confused whether I should upgrade to M1 MBP or wait for the next M1X

@@histeriamassal2290 I think it depends on your budget/needs. If you're good with shelling out 1300 USD for a great MBP base model, better pull the trigger now. The M1X would probably be available to 14/16 MBP high-end models, based on the rumors.

Yep went and got one. Was going to wait to get a 16gb model, but a certain company was discounting it which made the 8gb model quite a bit cheaper than getting the 16gb direct from Apple. Plus if I do memory stress the system at least the SSD will have active cooling when the swopfile is taking a hammering. That and the direction Apple is going in with their Apple silicon will want to trade up to their next product well before any SSD degradation happens.

I got the same MacBook Pro. 16gb ram and 512gb ssd. It had just been delivered to my home. But I’m having some regrets. Should I have waited for the M1X model as I’m a professional videomaker and photographer? And instead, just get a temporary mac mini momentarily? Since we are stuck at home and I can’t travel now. I already have a great display, mouse and keyboard. Right now I have the MPB 2015 and is just bad. So the thing is: should I return this MPB and get a base model Mac mini and save 800+ € (around 1000$) Or should I keep it and be happy with it? I’m just scared afraid the M1X base model will be cheaper and better compared to this maxed out MPB M1
