Today we are making apple pie from scratch on the Big Green Egg using a 100 year old recipe!
Pie Crust Ingredients;
4 Cups Flour
1 ¾ Cup Lard
1 Cup Cole Water
1 Table Spoon Sugar
1 Table Spoon White Vinegar
1 Teaspoon Salt
Pie Filling (Per Pie);
8 Peeled, paired and sliced apples
1 Cup Sugar
2 Tablespoon four
1 Tablespoon butter
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
Dash Nutmeg
Directions;
Step 1) Mix together pie crust ingredients, let chill 15 minutes.
Step 2) Peel, clean and slice apples
Step 3) Grease and flour pie tin
Step 4) Place half of pie crust on bottom of the tin
Step 5) Mound apples in pie tin 1” above tin top
Step 6) Mix ingredients over top of apples
Step 7) Place top pie crust over apples
Step 8) Cut slits in pie crust to allow steam to vent
Step 9) Bake at 375/400 Degrees Fahrenheit for around 45 minutes or until top is golden brown. Check and turn every 15 minutes.
