As usual another excellent review. Thank you. Personally if I have a particularly good iPhone shot I increase the size/pixel dimensions of the image in Topaz Gigapixal. I edit in Photoshop and use Topaz’s AI Sharpen and AI DeNoise. This will make for a leveller playing and the results have to be seen to be believed. My DSLRs are Nikon D850 and D500.

WOW impressive... I was looking into that A7C over the 12 Pro Max.... there are pros and cons for both, like iPhone can do 4k 60 HDR 10 bit video while Sony can't. The really downside to iPhone 12 Pro Max is the lens flare... it's really all over.

I appreciate you doing this comparison but it’s really not comparing RAW to ProRAW at all. What you’re really seeing is RAW vs RAW and it’s a given that the Sony will out perform the iPhone. If you want to do a proper comparison between RAW and ProRAW, you need to use a program that works with ProRAW and can display the Local Tone Map of the Apple ProRAW file. One such program is RAW Power. It’s available on iOS and the Mac. The developers, Gentlemen Coders, have a RU-vid channel that show their app working with Apple ProRAW.

How to get apple pro raw files on computer?

Apple ProRAW is meant to be edited in it’s own photo app providing much more flexibility of editing over processed JPEG file. If you import Apple ProRAW file into Lightroom or any 3rd party apps it will upload as DNG file only. Hence, no comparison then. Btw nice work tho! Appreciate.

Major major differences are sensor sizes and that pro raw can only be edited with apples photo app…. No other developer has support for pro raw files they will edit as regular dng files…. Great video and amazing what these small sensor small lenses pocket cameras are doing!!!! For normal everyday I don’t have to bring my Eos R out anymore I can just use my 12 pro max!!!! Video quality in good light!?!?! Amazing!!!!

i bought the iPhone12 Pro Max because i’m click happy but i don’t know much about photography. i think i can safely say that comparing any two devices with such different capabilities isn’t really fair. if a novice like myself were to go into a camera store to buy a camera, personally i’d keep my mind on the megapixels. 24 vs 12 is just not fairly starting off the challenge. yes, you down regulated a few settings but the megapixels are still at a premium on the Sony. try gettin a hold of a camera with the same megapixel capabilities and reshoot your challenge. i bet the iPhone 12 Pro Max will hold its own. i enjoyed this visto and the information it provided. it does give somewhat of an understanding to where the iphone stands against a real camera lens. just my two cents. cheers!
