Apple's Shocking Move: Mac Mini Replacing Mac Studio?

Could Apple really be replacing the Mac Studio with the Mac mini? I break down the possible scenario, and provide my thoughts on why I think it might not be a bad idea.

There are going to be some very angry customers who have just spent 6- 8 K on a higher end model and within a year or 2 it’s discontinued and no longer gets any software updates

3:20 Props where they are are due: the original era iMacs included the iMacDV, which for the 1st time brought us the new digital video eco-system designed by Apple and Sony, ie. MiniDV25, MiniDV tape, MiniDV camcorders, iMacDV, and Firewire digital data cables to connect Mac, camera, and storage - not to mention Final Cut Pro. Prior to this cameras recorded analog, cables were analog, and a $12k Mac tower was incapable of doing the necessary analog-to-digital conversion of SD video on the fly. At the time, I used an iMac DV to edit SD TV commercials. I would get a new iMac every 2 years and it would thrash a 2 year old Mac tower. Now I'm using a 2014 5k iMac, it's finally starting to die, but every iMac is a downgrade - even ones not yet released! I prefer iMacs, but it seems the end of an era. Next I have to research monitors.🤢Thanks for the info

one thing about the Mac Pro additional to heavy professional loads being a requirement for a Mac Pro there also needs to be a requirement to use third party cards for some significant element of the workload. But That is becoming less and less a requirement. Analog interfacing to synthesizers and audio mixing is starting to be replaced by software. So, it's not clear if the Mac Pro is relevant for 99.99% of the market. IN many cases it has been a vanity purchase, so the company looks professional by having a shiny box. IO have seen one or two configurations that make sense to replace an older G5. But even then, only about half of the cards needed to be moved over since a lot of the functionality can now be done in software.

Heading ending with a ? implies just guessing I think your guessing is wrong and the studio will be here for a long time Sure,, go ahead and buy a Mac mini pro and cook it at 100 Celsius - both CPU and PSU. But, how long before it fails due to the high temp? I prefer the studio that is running at max 60 celsius and performing very very good But that's me😉

@@Xxz2055 "Need" is a strong word. I prefer just having a constructive conversation about what may or may not happen with that fruit company from Cupertino. None of us really know what's going on unless we work inside one infinity, but it's fun to guess and speculate what may happen. Nonetheless, thanks for watching!

As the M2 chips seem to run hotter than the M1 series, I think they will release an M2 Max version of the Mac Studio using the existing heat sink from the M1 Ultra. The M1 Max version of the Mac Studio has been a huge success, why would they miss the chance to do it all again with the M2 Max? that makes no sense at all Mark is probably correct about the M2 Ultra, I think heat is probably the reason why the M2 Ultra will likely not be released in the Mac Studio enclosure

Seems these “YT BLOGGERS” are running out of $$ or nothing new to buy or review so they use CLICKBAIT as to get us watch the videos - it happen to me yesterday and i BLASTED the guy in the comments because he was making an “assumption” no actually it was his “WISH LIST” for a APPLE 27” iMac in the title only to hear him say mid clip it was only his wish 🙄🙄🙄🙄 at least here the blogger references Mark German who wrote about it so here it’s different

Come on people, tempted in by the misleading title may be disappointed and do not view further videos from you

@@xray2785 Outside of using the word "shocking" I'm not sure what's clickbait. The whole video is based on the premise of the Mac mini possibly (key word there) replacing the Mac Studio by adapting some of the studio's key features. Nonetheless, I appreciate the feedback and will assess on the next video.

@@arkoverload thank you for your reply. I took issue not only with the word “shocking” but with the whole phrase “Apple’s shocking move”. In my view, Apple did not recently make a move, and certainly not a shocking one. All this did was update the last high end Intel Mac mini with a high end Apple Silicon Mac Mini. This Intel Mac Mini was one of the last remaking Intel-based Macs still which was still being sold. This was entirely in-keeping with Apple’s statement that he will migrate from Intel to Apple Silicon. Rather than being shocking it was well overdue. What can certainly legitimately speculate as to whether Apple will scrap the Mac studio., but it is simply misleading to suggest that APPLE has made some sort of shocking move to lead us to believe this, when all this has done is replace, what was the high-end Intel Mac mini with a high-end Apple Silicon-based Mac mini at a similar price point. I’m sorry if I seem to be overly critical, it’s just that I feel that these titles have the effect of being misleading, which ultimately is it no one‘s best interest, your own channel included.
