Apple Shortcuts: How to add location directly into Apple Notes

If you use Apple Notes for research or as a second brain, This channel is for you! In this video we will learn how to use the share sheet feature of Apple shortcuts to add location and weather information while composing a note.
NOTE: Please make sure the Shortcuts App has permission to use location. Go to Settings-Shortcuts-Location-While Using.
We will start by building a couple of utility shortcuts we can reuse. These will get our location and weather information for us, and then we'll use our main shortcut to give us access to this information while composing a note. We hope you find it helpful and useful. Thanks for watching!

I modified the Shortcut to simply output all data to the Clipboard and when that's done I get a popup alert..all I then need do is paste the details where ever needed..thanks again for the tutorial. Very helpful and one can tweak it further. 👍

Love this, built it myself and Ican run it and select a note, but it won’t show on the Share Sheeteven though i toggledthat button. Still really cool though! Thanks,I

At the very top of the Shortcut, there should be an action called "Receive" that would be automatically added when the "Show in Sharesheet" option is enabled. Please make sure "Rich Text" is selected as an input, If not, tap on whatever qualifier is immediately after the "Receive" and select Rich Text. Hopefully that will fix it. Thanks for watching! Fantastic shortcut!! Is there a way to change the altitude to feet instead of meters?

Try placing the “Calculate” Action immediately after the “Get Altitude” Action. Use it to multiply the altitude by 3.280839895. Then in the Text Action, substitute “Altitude” with “Calculation Result”. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching!

I couldn't get it to work. The shortcut runs. No error. But nothing appended or detail added to the Note. When the shortcut ends it opens a window to select a Note but not always the latest notes. Frustrated..what could be going wrong?

The shortcut is designed to be run from within an active note by using the share sheet. Try starting a new note with a line or two then tapping the share menu (little box with up arrow) and running it that way. I hope this makes sense. This tutorial was valuable like the others. However, I lost track half way in. It cud hv been the circular references u attempted to exhibit. Try a sub mini tutorial from the upper level tutorial topic.

I really appreciate the feedback and I'm working on something along your suggestions. The whole idea of helper shortcuts is a bit challenging. Even keeping track of what each of them does is a headache for me, because I have tons of them. The biggest advantage, it seems, is for things like menus and lists that you may want to use across different shortcuts, because you only need to edit the helper to update the shortcuts that utilize it.
