I can definitely see what Apple are trying to do with the Vision Pro. However, the immersive nature of it suggests that it was modelled on 90s VR headsets of the past. It's awesome for a game or for a controlled environment, but without fences, spatial awareness or peripheral vision, it feels like an accident waiting to happen. IMHO, it'd be better were it more like a heads-up display (HUD) in certain Nissan cars or a plane.

I had to look up "disorientating" because I pronounce it "disorient" and thought I was pronouncing it wrong. I found that "disorientate" and "disorient" mean the exact same thing. Disorientate is used more in England, and disorient is used in the US. English--the language that complicates itself for no reason and causes inflammable or flammable anger and frustration. Great video Norm, thank you!

This would be highly useful for someone learning Japanese to be able to translate all the signs in real time in Japanese. You could also use it to translate what people are saying in real time. (Someone could develop a 'predictive text' on responses back to what people say, like a multiple choice thing, and you pick one from the list with your hands... and then it could tell you how to reply in the language.) This could help you to learn and get used to speaking to people in another language, even if you look like someone out of Serial Experiments Lain when you are doing it 😅

When I was a kid we could never have imagined our future now with Everyone looking down at phones in their hands and groups of friends together in a room, not talking to each other and all online instead. It's like Snow Crash in real life! When the Google Glass was being tested, a major concern that ultimately helped sinked the thing entirely was privacy, basically having a camera always filming what you're watching. Do you think the phone culture of the last decade has changed the perception of such a device? It's still rude to just go around filming people but I don't think people care anymore like when someone walks by streaming.
@silverian

Nice looking Cyberpunk Tech. But what I learned from your comments is that it needs to have wider visual view area (left and right areas). I think when it has real sized map what did not cover your view when walking would make it killer app with wider visual area.

So yeah, my opinions about the Vision Pro aside, I really think its NOT a device made to be walking around with. Its something you sit at a desk or on the couch with, maybe you can move around your house a bit, but never should be in public. I don't think ANY headsets that use "pass through" should be used out in public. I think the only future for public use head mounted devices should be fully AR, as in they are some kind of glasses with an overlayed screen, like the old school Google Glass, but of course with updated technology. But basically they need to operate like glasses when they are off, and when on, the display should be transparent enough to see the real world at all times.
