Apple Watch Series 2 vs Samsung Gear S3 

Got rid of my iPhone 7 plus and series one Apple Watch, got the 7 edge, and gear s3 and I'm loving the switch. Apple tech is so boring

Some of us like the fact that the Gear S3 bigger.

Let's just keep calling it huge since there is nothing bad to say about it.

Been an apple guy for 4 years. Switched it up. Bought an S7 edge and an S2 Classic. Looooooovvvvvveeeeee it! Android has gotten so much better. And Samsung. 👍🏻🤘🏻

I have an Gear S3 Frontier and it's an amazing smart. I leave my phone at home when I go running and I still never miss a call.

i just spent New Years travelling across Europe......the Gear S3 was sold out in Berlin, Croatia and in Rome.....i managed to pick one up in Doha on my stop over on the way home, and even then they only had 3 left. doesnt tell you much...but the apple watch was available and cheap in all of these locations. i dare say the gear S3 will greatly outsell the apple watch.

Apple Watch looks like a toy watch

I own the Gear S3 Frontier. I also have a Moto 360 2nd gen so I didn't need another chrome watch. The Frontier can be sporty or classy with a nice leather band.

I have to laugh to myself when I hear people say the Gear S is a really large watch. As a collecltor of well over 100 watches the Gear S is slightly average at 46mm. Traditionally, the average men's dress watch has been 38-40mm, however in the last decade watch size has been on the rise and 46-48mm has become the new standard. Many of my mechanical, quartz and automatic watches are well over 50mm; on my 8.25" wrist the Gear S seems slightly small. We watch collectors generally say, just wear it and after 3 days you won't notice it.

Samsung gear s3 is the best

The Frontier's design is stylish, classy, posh, sexy. The Apple design is em....meh. The display also looks much better in the Frontier.

One has more features, costs less, looks nice like an actual watch, more durable, compatible with more devices, can operate stand alone, higher resolution screen, standard band design, better battery life and has a more intuitive interface. But the other looks like a tacky kids spy watch, is a little smaller and has more apps atm. Hmmmmm... Such a hard choice.

You can't compare these; no sim (LTE) on crapple, period! Besides that, one looks like a real watch and the other just looks like a toy. Have a great Sunday everybody.

The Apple watch's screen seems to be more vulnerable to get hit easier then the S3 's rotating bezel helping a bit to protect the screen. Do you know if any of those watches can have the screen scratched easier then the other? thanks.

love the GS3 def good battery life with aod. I charge it at night and its a go all day with notifications and gps active. Samsung pay is faster than using on the phone!

I bought a Gear S3 classic a week ago and I really love it! I found it to be very useful and the fact I love the most is that it is so well made, stainless steel case with some parts in chrome finished, such a good quality hard to be found on another devices

Immediately, I figured this was a this was bull when he said the s3 was huge and that was a downside. People have been wearing watches of that size or larger before any of these smart watches.

I own a Apple watch series 1 and I am just about done with it. I only see minor upgrades from the S1 to the S2. Besides the turn by turn navigation, it really is inferior to the Samsung S3 Frontier. It was the hype that made me switch from an Android to Apple. But after having the iPhone 6 and an iwatch, I can gladly say I am done with Apple products next year when the Samsung S8 comes out. And after trying the iPhone, I say it sucks. Can't customize the home screens, can't search contacts by just typing the name, doesn't recognize my music in folders only by playlists that you have to recreate, and the latest 10.0 software really screwed it up. That's only a few gripes. I'm not a fan boy, I use the phone for what i need it to do. Bye Apple, Hello Android again, and never switching back to Apple ever!

this isn't a comparison. Which watch can be used as a stand alone device when leaving your phone at home? ah not the apple watch. almost forgot.. Samsung pay blows apple pay out of the water. my work phone is an iphone (sadly) and i hate using it. the only good iPhone is a jail broken one.

seriously. samsung watch is better. apple watch really piss me off when i stay back in office. battery life is short. with samsung s3, i wont be running out of battery for at lease 2 days.

The review just kind of glossed over LTE connectivity. To me with my personnel use, this is huge with wearables. For the 1st time, I'll leave my phone in my glove box of my car (probably not smart) when I run into the gym or market. It's very convenient and I fear only considered a "Game Changer" until the Apple Watch 4 or 5 adopts it.

So I got the s3, it's my first smart watch and it works perfectly with an IPhone and it's such an amazing smart watch, I never miss a notification or a call, it's probably the most robust smart watch out there, and I absolutely love the customization on it.

Gear S3 is really good! It would be 'Absolutely Fantastic' though if there were more APPS... Gear Apps are hopeless compared to the Apple Watch right now. Would I get an Apple Watch however?! HELL NO

I have a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and it is an absolute dream of a smart watch. Unlike most rumors, it is not "too big" in any way. To me, it is the perfect size and it helps me do everyday things easier. The only downside I have found about it is that there are very limited apps you can download. No social media, no decent internet apps, and very generic games. Other than that, I love my Gear S3😊😊

To me, Gear S3 takes and here is why: 1- Better looking! Looks like a watch, not a toy. 2- Connectivity! it runs on 4G. It's an independent device 3- GPS built in 4- Auto fitness tracker 5- Battery life is awesome 6- You get all the premium features at one price point Even though this review offers more info than other reviews I've seen, it also failed to include key information, specially of the GS3. The Gear S3 does run on iOS, the gear manager is available on the app store. It also failed to mention all the additional fitness capabilites of the GS3: Auto fitness tracker, compatibility with S-Health and Cigna My Health, as well as all the workouts it tracks! No other watch tracks as many activities as the GS3 Only the Windows band can touch it). Peace out.

Just got the s3 frontier. It is so amazing. Apple watch looks like an old iPod strapped to your wrist. The bezel turn on the s3 is better than the digital crown. Samsung Pay beats Apple pay ANY day. Everything about the s3 is superior. And samsung has said they are working on iOS support.

4 years later, I'm still using my Gear S3 Frontier, lasting 2 full days with a single charge, all 2020 smartwatches specs are in already, still receiving software updates. And guess what, it's smarter than the latest Apple watch generation with larger battery and more smart features XD

You start the video by calling the size of the S3 a DOWN side. That's just for the little people and women. For me, a Dutch average size man, 186 tall, the Apple watch looks like a plastic small Chinese watch for children. The S3 has a nice solid feel and weight to it and fits just right on my wrist. So, that "down" side is just for your wrist, not for bigger European people.

Perfect for my daily Activities even in Office, House, Biking, Riding & Walking/Running!

My preference? The Gear S2 I already have. While I like the physical look of the S3 Frontier a lot I just don't see enough compelling features in it to upgrade yet, especially considering that the latest S2 update has brought it pretty close to on par.

Apple Watch 2 user here. Bought the S3 frontier now because it is absolutly beautiful, and has a good size for a watch for men, unlike the Apple watch witch seems way too small for me. BUT I'M RETURNING the S3 and keeping the Apple because the apps are so limited on the samsung. I'm used to the AW i guess, and the software (tizen) just seems old and dated. I gave it a try, didn't liked it. I guess with the new version of Android I could try again to change... lets see. Just my two cents.

I like the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier

The Gear S3 simply blows the Apple watch away. Beautiful design, unlimited amounts of watch faces to change the look and the bands can be changed to any standard watch band size. Functionality is superb as well. Samsung nailed it.

I have the Apple series 2 42mm stainless steel sport. it is awesome even better than I thought it would be. I love it.

Gear S3 is what I think is the future for productivity - you can literally leave your phone at home and navigate, answer calls, pay and respond in full to texts or take notes. They have a default typing system but I use Modality (50 words per minute). Good fitness tracking too, except when I get off the highway and it thinks I'm cycling!

With the Apple Watch 42 mm I usually get over 24 hours and 4-7 more hours

Given that wearables are fashion items and so clearly judged in part on their looks (just see the comments below for proof of that simple fact), this review should really have included a 42 mm Apple Watch with a black band - and perhaps the black anodised finish. The Samsung Gear S3 is obviously designed to be a men's watch, and while Apple doesn't specify which size is designed for men or women, a more comparable Apple Watch aesthetically would be the 42 mm version in black. If you listen to the audio, it makes a lot of very valid points, but you can tell many of the people below are clearly focused on looks (and nothing more) in their disparaging comments of the Apple Watch. The real problem Samsung will run into long-term is the Tizen operating system. As more apps are built for Apple Watch and Android Wear, it is difficult to see Samsung keeping pace with the APIs Apple and Google can offer for third-party apps to flourish. Samsung has taken a bold bet with the VIV acquisition, but I don't expect them to complete with Apple, Google or Amazon when it comes to voice based AI. Building software platforms is incredibly difficult, and Samsung has yet to prove that they can build one that generates significant third-party application support (independent of their skinned version of Android).

I have an Apple Watch series 2, it works great and it fulfill my needs for a smart watch, I also like the gear s3 tho.

Missed message that S3 Gear has a Beta App the runs on iPhone as well. Right now only free apps available. When App becomes readily available on App Store will all S3 to be assessible on both platforms which is great feature.

I recently bought the gear s3 frontier & I'm amazed at what all it can do. The look and feel alone make you want to fall in love with it. and using Samsung pay turns head. Yes people know about Samsung pay but people don't expect you to pay from a watch. with catch people by surprise. and with the frontier LTE it's a standalone device you don't need your phone to make phone calls that's another feature I love with the s3 and let's not forget about the functionality of it how it works seamlessly. If You have the s7edge with the s3 frontier & Samsung Bluetooth ear buds that's a win. you can't go wrong.

The Gear S3 LTE model doesn't use any Micro-SIM card for phone use.. it works with an E-SIM firmware for Carrier use.

I'm kind of confused as to exactly how this video pitched the apple watch vs the gear s3? All I saw was just an overview of what each watch could do (aside from the battery test). On the phone comparisons when he pit one against the other, they open the apps and really do a challenge. I guess I was expecting more of that. Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty un-biased review of the basic functions of each watch, I just thought it'd be more of an actual competition.

Great review! I think you should have used the 42mm version of the Apple watch for this review. Most men purchase the 42mm version or the Frontier version vs the Classic version of the S series watch.

been a android user for 4 years and switched to iProduct was lit! never regret this experience ... and it changed my life. i still love android tho .

no one ever mentions the fact the gears had its own capacity to call out and or recieve calls. it can act as a seperated device...which is useful when/ if your regular mobile device dies.

I want to add about S3 that: a) from S2 to S3 there was a big improvement in hardware and that was from 28nm node to 14nm, and some other improvements. b) of course it depends on usage, but me and many other people report consistent 3+ days without active display. I tested it and it usually has about 60% left after 2 days and about 20% after 3 days. There is also extreme power saving mode that is supposed to last about a day additionally, didn't try it yet. c) there is a Gear app for iOS now, though people report it is very buggy now. d) cost. while at first it seems the same tree fiddy, er, 350$ but when we actually try to set similar config - steel+leather it would almost double iWatch price (though sapphire is obviously better - hardness 8 versus 6). iWatch is great, but S3 is also not bad I think (have S3). I wish there were more apps for Tizen.

I just got a refurbished S2 and love it. Like the size of the S2 over the S3.
