Hey big thanks for the video. I ran that gibmacos.bat command, pressed R, but I only see Catalina is the latest FULL Install listed, any idea whats up ?

Most important thing: if you want this installation easy, stick strictly to his hardware parts. especially the mainboard and wifi card.

@@pedrogiacoia3279 It won't work out of the box. The process will be very complicated. You have to follow this guideline. I have a background in computer science, I know about hardware and software, OS, it takes me like 12 hours to have it works properly. Simply put, Apple writes drivers (they called it kext) for the devices they sold. Good luck trying to run macOS on unsupported devices without deep experiences in hackintosh

That case kind of reminds me of my Morex 557, but this has a fully built in AC-DC power supply. The Morex needs to either have a PSU on the motherboard(which is super rare) or a DC-DC supply, which requires an external brick. Great tutorial for getting macOS up on your own hardware.

Thanks for giving us an option. The flexibility of a Hackintosh with the added ability of running Windows and Linux makes this an interesting option. And you have prepared much so I won't have to figure it out. I don't care if it's not faster than the latest MacMini. It's still a high performing machine. Excellent work!

I chose to get a 2013 mac mini with 16gb ram and 256gb ssd for $220. Arrived in two days, upgraded to Big Sur, Xcode 14...now I'm a happy camper.

His build about $750 adding up the parts. Equivalent Mac Mini w 16gig RAM and 512 SSD is gonna run $1100 plus tax and shipping. But yeah, I'd not risk the potential future headaches, warranty, and missing ports for just $350.

The point is M1 Macs aint nearly as awesome as they are made out to be. There is some application advantages to video editing on i7s even now. But of course these advantages will disappear from the subsequent gen of M1s.

Most professional users in audio use mac because they use thunderbolt audio interfaces because they are the fastest connection type and usually thunderbolt interfaces have some top tier built in A/D converters instead of having a dedicated A/D converter because they are so expensive.

The missing thunderbolt port is very important,i have an UAD thunderbolt sound card. also, the only reason that I would make a hack mini , is to double the ram, from 16 to 32 , perhaps 64gbs. Now I have a Mac mini late 2012,quad core.

@@kryptv7770 the Apple Silicon mac mini is out right. From a price to performance perspective it seems like it would be similarly performant to the mac mini in your build. I'd love to see a build with higher specs if you had that in the pipeline!

@@ImtihanAhmed I know, which is why I was stuck in between wether I should make an hackintosh or get the base line Mac mini, but my thoughts were why would I do that if I can build one way cheaper, and at the same performance, or not maybe the exact same performance but good enough for, 4K editing and music production, and the plus side of having hackintosh is that you can at least upgrade components for what ever your needs, maybe, and not be stuck with a non upgradable product, which later on if you wanna upgrade, you will have to buy a whole new unit. on top of that, most of my third party plug ins are not yet compatible on the new m1 chip, for now it’s hackintosh for me, but in the later stages, when things have been fully optimised, I would reconsider.

Please make of 2021 version of Motherboard Vendors RGB software comparision. And this time please show the dynamic effects too. So that viewers could see that if the RGB reacts to music than how responsive or well is the reaction. And also, this time include the ram RGB from popular brand like a Corsair Vengeance RGB pro kit just to show how well is it compatible with all 4 vendor softwares.

@@paouvous Except they mention the M1 macs at the start of the video so my point of waiting still stands. Heck, in some real world testing performance is in excess of a *baseline i9 Mac Pro* which is $6,000. Even if we assumed thet is a fully stacked M1 MacBook Pro you are talking $2.300 or *~39% less* This ignoring all the time it will take to build the thing and as one person has pointed out getting the parts is not easy and he was jerked around by the various hardware makers for so long that he basically said 'screw this' and got an M1 Mac. So you got through all this for a hanktosh that compared to an actual M1 Mini is a joke with the punchline 'you trolled yourself''.Brilliant. There is a reason some Mac user think hackentoh fanboys are fools - this is why.

The only thing the actual product did was show was most of those speculations were too *conservative* . As it stands this was DOA a month ago and new it comes off as 'Watch Captain Clueless' and reinforce the concept among some Mac users that Windows users are fanboy idiots.

The mac mini configured for $1059 USD is 512gb and 16GB ram. That thing beats the crap out of any intel based mac at the moment, which for me is insane. I use Logic Pro X, and seeing a dude open 1000 plugins on 8GB ram. Meanwhile........the intel based mac is freaking out at 1/3 the amount and tracks. There is some insane efficiency going on here. I'm no fanboy, I *only* use logic pro x - I don't do anything else except maybe watch youtube and browse. If I wasn't using logic pro - I'd leave mac entirely because I do both that and a lot of gaming on pc and console.

People talking about the new M1 Mac mini seem to have forgotten about Apple's ludicrous monopoly price on SSD and RAM upgrade. 180$ for a single 8G RAM stick and another 200$ for 256GB more SSD storage. Then they remove all upgradability so you can suck it up and buy a new one if your need changes in 1-2 years on the machine otherwise can last for at least 5 years. Very environment friendly indeed.

Would be awesome if an off the shelf RISC platform emerges eventually that makes hackintoshing possible again with rival M1 performance. I won't exactly be holding my breath for it, but just saying I wish it could become a possibility. Maybe in the way the original PC was cloned by reverse engineering. Or the same geniuses who figured out Intel based hacks, doing the same thing with non-Apple RISC based hardware.

Man, all the Apple stans are coming out in force all about the M1 mini. As for me, this is the perfect build to replace my aging poorly late 2012/early 2013 mini that i use for testing and VMs. My only question is can I build this with Mojave and then use my Timemachine back up to restore my existing system into this hardware but with 32 gb of ram and 2 tb ssd?

Damn I was ready to dive in until the shot about thunderbolt. My music studio lives and dies on that interface and hardware. It is what it is and I've heard horror stories of windows guys trying to get it to run well on pc

The days of hackintoshes are counted. For the moment, it's fine because MacOS (Big Sur) is still Intel compatible and the Apple M1 computers need Rosetta 2 to run it, but hackintoshes won't work anymore when MacOS will be Apple Sillicon only, in barely 2 years or less, so...

My laptop( catalina ) freezes when using any of the function keys & plugging or unplugging ac adapter. It's dell 3568 i5 7200u variant..any fixes 😅?

Nice build...but the M1 Mac mini kinda makes it into a lot of work for the same money...I might even upgrade to the new Mac mini from my 2012 Mac mini ...🤓

Don't just upgrade for the sake of upgrading unless you are gonna run services or apps that require it.

@@tinashezimunya2288 The extra cost for 1 or 2 TB SSD is ridiculous. I'd go for the 512 GB and connect additional storage externally, as a compromise.

@@custodioalexandre9700 yep the 8500t would be an excellent choice. And downloading Big Sur should be absolutely fine 👍 but if for whatever reason you have any issues just do the latest Catalina and upgrade as I did.
