Apprentice Dog Training with Personal Protection Dog 

Thank you - your videos are very helpful and validating! A group of us walk our dogs together, and we have seen the master/apprentice concept over and over. I have the oldest dog in the group, 5-year-old female GSD. She is very balanced and calm, and teaches the younger dogs. She’s extremely tolerant, but has expectations on behavior. We had a malinois mix join us. He was 1-year-old, bratty teenage dog, kind of anti-social because he was a rescue. He decided to challenge my dog one morning. She came back with just enough to make the point that she wasn’t going to tolerate that. He’s been fine ever since with all the dogs. We call her the quality control officer hahaha. The next oldest is a lab mix, and she is the welcoming committee when a new dog starts to walk with us. She has helped nervous dogs settle down and feel comfortable. Keep the great videos coming! Great instructional video!

I did this with my last service dog and it helped him a lot. He was having trouble understanding his tasks until we spent time around a seasoned dog and handler. Something finally clicked for him and he was the best dog I've had so far. When my current puppy in training is mature enough, I'm hoping to repeat it with her. However, it takes the right type of dog to be able to teach an apprentice. Some dogs just don't have the right personality to teach others.

So true! Dogs watch and learn from other dogs,horses learn from each other and can also help them get over fears and brings a sense of comfort to more timid horses and dogs.This is my opinion.Thanks for the video
