Always helpful, thank you! We would like to add another shepherd to our family. We currently have a 6-year-old female GSD, who is truly an amazing dog. I would like to add a working line dog, for all the reasons Hans recommends them, but because I don’t know much about the differences, I am hesitant. I would say that my female is well above average in prey and defense drive. She was quite a handful for me when she was young. Consequently, I have learned a lot in the process of getting her to where she is now. Is there such thing as a lower drive working line, such that it might not be a huge difference from my high drive show line?
You gotta see Mink Man channel. He has mink for clearing muskrat from government property, dogs for clearing farms from rats, even a hunting lizard for his home. Plus he catches rats by hand as the dogs drive them out of their holes. The dogs work with the mink, too.
I believe we made huge mistake with breeding of some dog breeds. Deep chest is a fault, especially for the utility breeds like German Shepherd and Malinois. When we look at wild canine such as wolves, they're actually narrow chest and chest depth is not that exaggerating. Wolves are not lacking in stamina nor agility nor strength, so it's baffling not to model utility dog conformation after wild canines. Greyhound, whippet and breeds that require running speed, the selective breeding for deep chest to gain more running speed is understandable. Or for water dogs, I theorize that perhaps, the dog is expected to dive and hold its breath, hence some water dog breeds were designed with deep chest. However, for utility breeds, there are less resting time (even at night, if unexpected happens, they're expected to get up to work, so deep chest is counterproductive. There is so much risk around the the time after feeding. It would be difficult to get the authority of the breeds, to look and change the breed conformation standard. So I guess we would be stuck with careful management and Gastropexy.

I’ve seen other breeders tell people over and over to do their homework before the dog gets there, and yet so many never do. Great Hans stayed with them to get a good crash course. Hopefully they’ll take advantage of Hans training.
I make the same trip fairly often. Sometimes from Seligman to San Diego as well. One trip through the border checkpoint they were actually having the dogs sniff every vehicle. We had my working dog sitting quietly behind me. (working line German Shepherd female) We rolled down the window so the agent could see us, my dog tilted her head as if to ask if there was a problem. They waved us through saying she was enough identification for us. If you make the trip often enough, the agents will start to recognize you.

Yes there is.. as long as the country you are importing from isnt banned from the cdc list and if it is banned they must be 6 months old showing proper vacs and paperwork.
The law says that you MUST have custom broker on any shipment over $2000. if the customs let you through then it is their decision but if they say that you need CB then you are in and heap of shit.

No more puppies, unless they changed this since last month when they announced it. 6 months or older is not ideal.
Made me questioning my life choices 😂. I have been only having one dog for over a decade now because I think it's best for both the dog and my family. Here they have 4 dogs and cats. Must be Hans' mind game, to push us to get another dog
@@lukeryuzaki2328 No, I don't think that's his motive. I would though question her motive. Although the dogs are cared for and have a beautiful kennel area, why aren't they in the house? Even if put on a place command, they would most likely prefer that to being in a kennel. Both my dogs are by my side most of the time. I have a Malinois and a German Short/wirehaired Pointer mix, a year ago I had to say goodbye to my boxer/lab mix Mimi due to advancing Degenerative Myelopathy symptoms. I would love another Malinois, I'm 62. I would have done my homework regarding the bonding and commands even as far as listening to how the word is said by native Czech speakers, but she had done nothing to prepare. It was frustrating to watch and I'm sure it was frustrating for Hans as well, probably more so even.
I was joking about Hans. Definitely baffled about how the lady owner seems to lack leash handling skill, not even know how to open the crate. But yeah, it's not really our business to look too deep into this situation without making light of it with some humor. Best wishes to Mr. Hans.

My German Shepherd started protection training last week and I was given a wonderful compliment. They said that she was a lover first and defender second ❤ the trainer follows Hans too 🥰
I see virtually every aspect of training like Hans does. I guess great minds think alike 😉 Haters of Hans remember this: He loves dogs. He is an advocate for German Shepherds, not the myriad of stupid owners and trainers who know nothing and ridicule incessantly. A firm, strong German. Like me. Yes but you have to be an experienced trainer. It is better to do one or the other. Its a conundrum. The issue is in protection we teach dog to NOT target equipment and in sports they TEACH the dog to target equipment.
Cruelty is not milking cow. If cow delivered baby for slaughter house and people eat burgers, so she need to be milked because then it will be painful for her, make infection and she will die. But activists don't understand these things. And same about training tools. In Czech It's everything illegal now. But everyone still use it including police, trainers, common people.😅 And if there is question why? So answer is: "That some dog breeds or dogs don't respond positively on positive training." Do you mean temperament or body structure? Honestly I observe during years sloped back and it make me just angry. In my opinion those lines will be in future years so crippled, they will not be able to do even normal natural walk. And I am not expert for GSD, but I understand very well how genetics work in animals.

Here's the problem in Germany for IGP sports. The top guys do it in secret. OK, but then it appears that you get the same result without the things they banned, so you then have proven their point - not using those things and method they banned seemingly gives equal results.
It's the same political playbook used by dictators. They loosely go after violation in the beginning to give off the false sense of security for the opposition. It's to turn down the heat, since they know too well, there are too many people who are happy enough with their own "illegal/cheating" achievement even when they're legally giving up their right. Then slowly, the dictator cook the frog now that the frog ensnared in the false security. Turning Schutzhund into a for glory sports back then was one of the first step toward schutzhund we see now. All the name changes had their purpose behind. It's no longer a breed test, where people understand and focus on the function of the German Shepherd dogs, and the right the owner has over a dog with that ability. It's not about ego, trophy which can blind side people into accepting dictator dominance over their lives.

It's not about gun control, or pollution control, or green energy, etc. It's about people control, period. Unfortunately there are enough useful idiots around that will do the governments bidding. The problem with these kind of people is they will never be satisfied. They need to keep themselves relevant so as soon as you give in on one point they just move on to the next issue and so on. The worst part is they don't want to face the consequences of their stupid regulations. They would rather put a dog down than admit their metods don't work.
