Here's another random filler video! In this one we have random junk that I might be using in future videos. Also, thanks to viewer DJ for taking pity on my lack of audio skills and sending me a wireless mic to try out. Now I just need to figure out how to use it!

Mics are weird around other radio sources. It has to do w the polarity of the mic. And the thing is that you can't tell unless you hook it up. They can be changed. However I would suggest a ground cable on the receiver side of the mic.

Off-note here but people with your type of skills really do well in networking, technology and audio in concert touring/events - so I was really surprised that you said you had no audio knowledge! The amount of signal transmission, reception and processing at concerts or events is almost like your own little galaxy of satellites haha.

For example, if you want to remove the hiss and background noise on that wireless mic you should check and see if there's anything in the settings for a noise gate, or if it has a built-in denoiser. If neither, you'll have to remove it in post when you're editing.

maybe the hiss is the limiter, or AGC in ham language so you get always same level of audio. Mostly used in places with background noise as it eliminates the background completely as long as you're talking.

The camera for the printer is very important in my opinion, because 3D printers sometimes act up. And the camera for the telescope, I hope they will also show us some of the images they have taken. Did you also watch the solar eclipse live yesterday? I watched it live on NASA's Twitch channel.

Interesting wireless mic, hopefully the sender can help it be set up. Sounded like the units pre-amp was amplifying the noise floor to easily audible levels. On the other hand it could have been some kind of ground loop between unit & camera or RF getting coupled to the audio thru proximity. Crossed fingers, after all it would be nice to be working without issue. Your standard jack in mic sounds good which reminded me it is typically an electret and you would think it has some pre-amp applied before digitized by the rest of the electronics. I wonder if that is the case perhaps it needs adjusted to its lowest setting?

Great update. I have a blue yeti usb microphone. It is quite fancy and it still produces noticeable white noise. I end up having to clean it in several passes in audacity. It is about 1/3 as loud as the noise from your mic. I have tried everything as well. Maybe it is something that needs filtering externally. Not really sure.

In the diy satellite tracking video you said that you wanted to use the lcd display but your Arduino did not have enough pins. You could fix that problem by using a i2c module for the display. If you use that module , you only need 2 pins for data

He'll cover it if a) it hasn't been beaten to death by every other youtube channel already, and b) you can give an actual use case where you want to message strangers you don't know that also happen to have meshtasttic in your area - bonus points if it's in an actual "emergency" / "off grid" situation. Although it is very against this channel's motto, it's best to leave those old 3D printers be. They belong in the past with all their flaws causing nothing but wasted time, wasted material and lots of frustration. If you care mostly about creating parts rather than constantly tinker with the printer itself and hope that a part will come out good: I strongly recommend getting a Bambu Lab P1S which is a 90 % perfect parts producer. I'm saying this because I've had very little frustration with my own P1P and the P1S at work. Both are absolute workhorses cranking out part after part with minimal care.
@Heimbasteln
@Heimbasteln 2 месяца назад
I first bought a Creality Ender Pro and it clogged a few times, leading to suboptimal prints and leveling and adhesion was also always annoying. Now I own an Artillery Sidewinder, its not much more expensive but its just so much nicer. I havent had any clogging with the direct drive extruder and after some basic manual leveling the printer will autolevel. Less than 20% of the stuff I print on there has issues, most of the time it just comes out good.
@gorak9000

@nrdesign1991

@@gorak9000 Please check before you comment: There is a LAN only mode, you dont need to register the printer at all, the US/EU cloud login uses AmazonAWS (not much better than Chinese cloud but still) and you're not vendor locked to any filaments, beds, nozzles etc.

haha wireless mic is crap oh well it was free! Pure hiss the whole time. Too many automatic features processing the audio I'd say. If you can turn all of the audio processing off on the mic and do all that later on the computer that would be better. I would suggest transitioning to more narrative style voiceovers with b-roll footage while you're talking so you can record the audio in an Echoproof box as created by @nighthawkinlight. Otherwise a directional mic with the fuzzy or a boom just out of shot would be your best bet for your onscreen time. You have a random dome floating around you could turn into the directional mic to reduce background noise.
