Met a white woman and had a couple encounters. 16 years later a older gentleman came up to my job with a biracial little girl. His garandaughter, my child. He and his wife raised her. The mother didn't want her but she had 4 other white kids that she raised. He located me because his wife died and he was up in age. He was very nice and stated that his daughter at first said she was raped but later admitted that it was a couple encounters. He went to say a few things about her that was not good. He stated that the other 4 children was by 4 other men. I had at that point received and raised my child with my wife and other children. The advantage for her was they also were biracial. I became like a son to him and a father to me until he died. I tried to encourage my child to have a relationship with her mom but she refused. She was addicted to drugs and her 4 children end up being similar to her. My daughter has a great life and ended up marrying a young and successful black man. Together they have a child. My daughters mother was in a accident driving drunk and is now paralyzed from the waste down. Before the grandfather died he stated that out of all the 5 kids I was the only one with in the child's life. He admitted that before he met me he thought that I would of been the worst simply because I was black. He ask me to forgive him. Foorgive him I did. He is cherished in my heart.

Great interview - I like that Miss Dinwoodie's work (or at least some of her work) is based in her life experience and helping others with similar life-situations. During the interview Karen H. mentioned "whiteness" as the accepted standard. Question for ALL/anyone who can offer understanding or a reasonable explanation...why do so many people think that "whiteness" is the standard? I assume we all know that U.S. society was born in a so-called "racial superiority" construct, but that was the 1600s to the about the 1940s or maybe a bit longer with white as the default. I'm looking around and I see flaws in ALL races - with some more flawed than others - but whites have some SERIOUSLY deep personality, character, and behavior flaws at this point in present-day U.S. society…and they can't POSSIBLY see themselves as the standard of excellence in the 21st century. It's just a belief at this point that lacks supporting evidence, because white people and their general behavior can no longer CLAIM this false standard of being better than everyone else. It would almost be funny if they weren’t so damn serious about it, and didn’t act out with violence in support of their beliefs. There are just TOO MANY non-whites who disprove their so-called falsely constructed "greatness." I see it ALL the time and virtually every day as this point...so how is it the majority STILL see whiteness as the aspiring standard, when we have other races literally running circles around white people?

Transracial as an adjective applies to across racial boundaries, but to apply that term to people ethnically is a misnomer! We are who we are genetically! Embrace it!

I had a daughter with a white woman. Recently, Easter found out of her. Long story short...... after reaching out to her parents prior to the child alternative narratives were created. They never intended to tell her of me. The stepfather and the mother both told me they never once spoke of it together. Yet, they both said they knew at birth. Real talk! I saved all the messages and recorded every phone call and guess what? After attempting to follow every appropriate guideline as a parent the child said, I don’t want to meet my real father. Funny shit? No my reality. A sad one at that.
