Looks great Terry. Tamper is very impressive and those hoppers are coming on nicely. I look forward to the town scene construction. Looks like you'll need quite a few buildings!
EverardJunction Thanks Richard. Yeah it does look as tho i will need a fair few buildings for the town scene. One half will be residential and the other half will be town/industrial with a mixture of ready to plant and scratch built buildings.

Hi Terry Always look forward to your updates. Some of those camera shots look so realistic with the weathering you have done both on the locos and the track etc. That is something I will have to get the courage to do myself sometime in the future when I have completed my own layout. Robin
Milton Mo Junction Thanks Robin...weathering is not as hard as it looks and there is no right or wrong way to do it but it has to come from your imagination and i get my thoughts on it from the real thing.

I always forget just how brilliant your layout is when I've not seen it for a while Terry and then it just blows me away when I do. Excellent bit of weathering on the 33 and I guess that fiddly sort of detail on the tamper would be something that 3D printing will one day be able to work around nicely, if not wanting to spend months fitting it altogether manually, but was well worth the effort as it looks brilliant! Am intrigued what your July plans are, and could probably hazard a guess or two, but will just wait and see. Good luck with the town scene and the rest of the coal wagon work :) - Sim
Cool and yeah that was my first guess as to what it might be. I've stopped buying all the modelling magazines recently but will see about getting whichever one that will be ;)
Paul Knowles Thanks mate...i did look at the Viessmann model but looked rather small being in HO. i also looked at the Brittania Pacific model which looks great but was put off by the £300 plus price tag tho lol.

Very good weathering Terry for roof paint flakes Humbrol Maskol would be best or salt weathering but I'd experiment with Maskol. The tamper kit looks superb Terry and even better weathered,bet your looking forward to July then mate be six months later after the photo shoot before its in the mag mate. Kev

Scenic siding fiddle yard means if nothing in that area running then at least there trains. Make it like Doncaster behind station some old sheds and have parked lot of all sorts. Or freight liner York on the northern side of the station loads of wagons tamper(and other such stock) all Parked. Thinks it has a wheel place for locos and roaring stock as well so could have that. Have a was plant where dirty unit goes in stops and the a clean one comes out. Hidden line so somewhere the clean dirty can switch over and be reset.

For the flaked paint effect, the trick is to use Vallejo "Chipping Medium". First paint the roof in the "primer" colour, then once dry apply some chipping medium undiluted with a large flat brush. Let it dry thoroughly for minimum one hour, then apply the roof paint coat undiluted either with an airbrush or a brush. once dry, just moisten the surface with a clean brush and water, and then start to chip the paint with a stiff brush (oil paint brushes work well), scrubbing sponge, toothpick, etc. Once finished, let dry and then secure with a spray of varnish. I'll try to make a video soon as I finally received my new digital camera ! Hope it's useful to you ! Eric.
phixer64 Yes Jeff i have thought about that and like i said in the video i may split the fiddle yard in half and have one half scenic but it is still in the planning stage.
Nice update. You've done a great job with the 33. I like the details on glebe road like the bag over the signal head. I've been wondering for a while, what's with all the brake coaches? You seem to really like them :)
I built a track tamper kit, but it's much less impressive than yours. For a start, I can barely get it to stay on the tracks, and I don't think the wheels are a standard size. I noticed you have an MPV, which I also have. They're really cool trains.
great update been following your videos for a little while now as I am just starting to build a railway myself, I also want to build a raised town scene but don't know what sort of size to cut board for the buildings to sit on, as I am new to modelling I need some guidance Thanks in Advance Ted
Paul White Thanks for the comment Paul....it is around 18ft x 10ft with three lengths of scenic sections with two of them more or less finished and the third about to start building on soon.

Minsterley Thanks Dave...it will be in the Model rail mag but later in the year but the shoot is in July. i will inform you nearer the time pal. I do think Minsterly more than deserves to be i a mag too.
