Brilliant update Terry. Looks and sounds really good. Love your scenic touches, nicely detailed with plenty of interesting features. Well done Terry. Kind regards. John.
Hi Terry The cement works section looks great and fits in nicely on that corner. The Tmd is great and has made me want one on my layout. I'm looking forward to see what you do with the next section and how the town section turns out. What a nightmare with the decoders! Good luck with the next section, keep the updates coming Cheers :-)
Thanks mate...im looking forwards to getting stuck in on the town scene now as i have wanted a large town and residential area since the start of the layout build.
Great update. Too bad about the static grass applicator. You have to be careful with that thing. It gives out a big jolt. I blew some of my lights but I testing a light when I did it. I learned my lesson. I'm going to use another power supply for testing instead of doing it on the layout. Scott
I like your yard, very cool. Your chincilla gravel has been getting a good outing lately! Really sets it off. Good luck with the 'feature' in the near future. I cant wait to see it professionally photographed and glossy! Dave
I have often seen people clip the static grass applicator to the track and it always worried me. I have never tried and now I know not to. Thanks for that. Your cement plant looks really good. The view at 15:00 is classic to my eye. Good update.
Great vid again Terry. Sounds like it's the month for of blown decoders. Bet that Static applicator took some abuse, especially after blowing the lights too. Got to say the shots looking from in front of the TMD, with the concrete plant behind are spot-on!! You have a gift with scenery mate...great stuff!!
Thanks for the comment dave. im very pleased with the TMD and are now trying to get the rest of the layout to look as good. If im being truthfully honest Dave its your layout that i look at in close detail for my inspiration as Minsterly is easily the best layout i have ever seen including all on the circuit.
Fantastic looking TMD Terry wish I could model like that just looks the biz. I'm not a dcc expert but I like the Ecos even for me easy to use and stores about 100 locos. Like the Turners yard and the concrete plant good models those, look forward to seeing the town scene take shape maybe some flats lol. Kev
Nice update Terry ,sorry unable to help with the Dynamis , dont think I got as high as 40 ,and as you may know I have gone on to the ECOS..Turners yard look spot on , your future plans sound good ..Dave
Looking good Terry like the new location of turners yard, fits that corner nicely, also good to see some trains running as well, that's going to be a big town scene Andy
Nice work Terry. Shame about the static grass applicator issue. I'll certainly be more careful when using mine in future! I'm afraid the dynamis can only store 40 locos. They are stored on the box itself in a roster of 40. A copy of the roster is sent out to any connected handsets. There is a way round having more than 40, but its a pain. If you can afford it I'd suggest a new controller rather than messing around with the dynamis. Cheers
Thanks Richard....yes a new system is on the horizon but need to ok it with the boss first tho lol. The Z21 is on top of the list and have just bid on one on ebay so we will see but i cant go on much longer with the dynamis as i still have around 20 locos that i cannot use. how many does your system hold out of interest? Terry
EverardJunction i use the NCE Powercab controller, i find that it is fantastic! although i do not know how many locos it can store. :) and Glebe Road Junction its looking fantastic, i had a layout and was starting scenery, but i decided to pull it up redesign and now i am much happier, that's why I've started this channel so i can post and stuff like you and richard do with your layouts, i have always watched both channels and i can say it was a little bit of inspiration :))) cheers
Well impressed with your video shots at low level , look really authentic, the concrete yard looks great, less is sometimes best. Inspiration for my layout which is a long way off. Robert. Bad luck on you chips getting burnt .
Great update and running video as always. Think moving the Turners yard and cement works down the far end, has really set off that end of the layout nicely. Really like the way your TMD has turned out as well. Looks awesome! Now I just have to try and take some of your ideas and down scale them to N gauge!
What can I say Terry, that other guy's haven't said! Great update you are very talented. Save up for the ECOS you won't be disappointed! Looking forward to the next video!....regards Steve
Cheers Steve...this saga choosing a new dcc system is warping my fragile little mind lol. I do really want the ECOS as it looks to be a good system but it is very expensive but i do also like the Roco Z21 as its half the price. decisions, decisions.
Terry, okay you just answered my reply you've maxed out at 40 Locos buddy, I've looked at the other DCC control systems and those that command 40+ Loco's are über expensive, thank you for your recent update really enjoyed it, Great Work, Well Done!
Nice update Terry great scenics all round,a quick one about the dynamis 40 your top whack for locos really, but you can have you chips paired like program your decoders for 2 class 47,s .Put the 2class 47,s on the track reset them to address 3 then program them to loco address 47,like a consist, that way they will work individually or together, now you have a few more spaces once you,ve paired them up,cheers Tony.
Hi Terry, This may have been answered by now with regards to the Bachmann Dynamis (and/or including the Dynamis Pro Box) and 'ERROR 7' I do have this DCC controller to and it wasn't long before I had 'ERROR 7' issue like yourself show up on the display screen. At the Warley show back in 2009/10 when it was first released I ask a Bachmann technical guy with regards to 'ERROR 7', I said I thought I could store up to 9999 loco's on my layout. His reply was, that you can 'Consist' any number of DCC locomotives between "The Range of" 1 - 9999, but the actual physical number of locomotive's that you can ever store on the Dynamis Controller is a total of 40 DCC Locomotives with an Consists address (numbered between 1 and 9999), hence you will get 'ERROR 7' on the screen. So what do I do if I want 41 Locomotives, I asked, his replied was, you will have to DELETE one loco off your Dynamis Controller that you have previously set/added, then re-add your NEW loco to the Dynamis controller and pick/set the loco Consists to any number between 1 and 9999. So a bit of a let down not making it clear enough and making sound like you can store 9999 loco's in your Dynamis/Dynamis Pro Box, I guess technically they are correct in that, Yes you can store any loco with a number between the range of 1 and 9999, but physically you can only store 40 locomotives at any one time, any more than 40 and you will get ERROR 7, so the answer at this point is Delete one loco off the Dynamis and re-Add your new loco.Hope that has answered your question Terry and is clear. This did lead me to look at other DCC Controller and which stored the most, the answer was, not many. DCC Controller / ## (Number of Stored Loco's) Dynamis or Dynamis Pro / 40 Digitrax Super Chief / 120 ESU EcoS = 255 R8214 Hornby Elite / 255 Lenz 90 or Lenz 100 / 99 NCE PH Pro Cab / 250 ZTC 511 / 127 *The above is what I believe to be correct on looking into each Controller, so may not be fully correct but based on talking to DCC Sellers and those that do have this controllers and searching on the internet, some is based on DCC controllers I own myself and know for sure.Regards, Jamie
Nice Update. Shame to hear about the decoders we live and learn. Looking forward to see how the concrete plant looks when you do more to it certainly looking fantastic. Andy
Awesome layout. Are your 2 wheel loaders and your tractor near the industrial building 1/87 scale? I'm looking for some agri and construction vehicles myself but as far as I can see there are none available in 1/76 gauge, 1/87 only.
hi, great update as always. I don't actually own and have never used a dynamis but I have heard that it can only hold 40 locos. When they state that it can store up to 99 addresses that means that you can use the addresses 01 - 99. I could be wrong but I remember hearing this on the forum a long time ago. Hope this helps.
Fantastic update terry really love that tmd area. Looking forward to seeing your town scene. In the middle of a career Change so hopefully once I get settled I can make tracks and get on with mine Cheers Graeme
Hi Terry, great update mate! I had a load of problems with the dynamis, I think it can only handle 40 as my dad and I had the same problem. The signal went on my dynamis and had to have it replaced twice so would recommend something else such as a gauges master prodigy. Keep up the good work! Thanks, Will
Hi Terry, Yes I have the prodigy and can thoroughly recommend it, 9999 locos I believe with 99 handsets, that's what my dad is also going to use for Boxenby, would definitely recommend it but it is £215 which may be a put off but well worth it!
Nice layout Terry very impressed im just starting my track laying at Freightliner Shelby Town depot where did you get the floodlights from all the best Sean
Thanks for the comment Sean...the yard lights are from Express models and they cost £40 but there is a long wait for them to be built. i waited a year for mine.
Great update Terry, I like the look of your yard, hope you don't mind asking but where did you get your lorries on your upper tier, I am shifting a few things around on my own layout and I was thinking of something similar to what you have done, good luck with the rest of your plans and I hope you managed to get your electrics sorted. John
Glebe Road Junction Thank you for that, totally forgot about Hattons, I just received a few items from them yesterday and there was a catalogue in the box so I must have a look, thanks again.
Great update and running session! I have the Dynamis but up to about 16 loco's thus so far. I recommend phoning Bachmann service department? I have contacted them a few times over a couple of loco issues and they have been very helpful and knowledgeable. Ta RIchard
Just to let you know, I've spent all afternoon on your behalf reading thru all I can on your "Error 7" it seems from what I've read that it's a reading error "fixya" has come up with most of the answers! But! Just like to say how much I enjoy watching your video work, I'm not giving up on Error 7 as I now want to know what it means, but as always, Great Work, Well Done
NICE UPDATE.. I think the bachmann control unit {inferred} can only handle 40 locos in a roster so if you have more then 40 you have to delete a loco from the list.. The ESU raido version can handle 100 locos.. I would get shot of it and get a white z21 {un boxed from a start set ebay around £100} control unit and use your smart phone to control your layout...then you can open up a new much better dcc control system....
yes i have had my eye on the Z21 for ages now and its £280 new but did not know people were selling them out of the box on ebay. and at £100 i must go check it out.
Terry With regards to your cement plant and sidings area, there is a plant like this just outside gatwick in the three bridges area, and that spurs off from the main line and has a big metal gate across the track and security fencing all around. Is that something you could do? Just throwing thoughts out there! Looking good though mate Alan
Fantastic work. I love watching the running section. One thing - It would be much better if you used a tripod. The camera jiggle detracts from your work.
i was filming from my phone. i do have a camera with a tripod which i always used when filming the layout but found the phone easier. may have to go back to the camera if its that bad.
Hi Terry, Long time - no see!! We're back from Spain now and it's good to see how much you've done to Glebe Road in the last few months. Are you going to DEMU this year?? STEVIE B.
Hi Steve Yeah long time my friend...hope all is well and you had a good time in spain. Yes i am hoping to go to the DEMU this year depending on the date.
Glebe Road Junction Sat & Sun 30th & 31st May. Big 20th anniversary show this year in two venues in Burton-u-Trent. We'll keep in touch .. yeah??STEVIE B.
Build a on scence storage so when locos not moving still in use as static storage ones have a maintenance depot painters or works so can be stored there
Hi terry very nice update sorry about your locos you can only store 40 loco's on the basic system and need to up grade it with the pro box which I think can store another 50 and also let's you use more than one hand set to hope this helps you a little. Matt
hi terry .michael burke from ireland. fab video once again . i too have the dynamis system and am very disappointed with it aswell for the same reasons that you mentioned .when i got it i thought that i could have an endless amount of locos on the roster as like you i have about 60 chipped locos, but it only takes 40 and error 7 will appear then .what i have done is given each sound chipped loco its own address and for all the non sound ones i have given each class its own address .so for instance all the class 66 ,s have address 66 and 47,s have address 47 and so on ,this way you get to run all your locos but obiouvsly you can only have one of each class on the layout at any one time unless you are double heading or have a good distance between trains and keep an eye on them .looking forward to your next update
I've got the dynamis. The maximum number of SAVED locos is 40. But if you know the address of locos not saved you should be able to simply type the number in and it will pop up. If this works then until you upgrade you can write a list of loco addresses to type in. Longwinded but at least you can run some other locos. The ECOS is good but very expensive and fixed in position. I think something portable such as NCE or Lenz or Digitrax or Gaugemaster Prodigy. If you want to stay off wireless radio/infra-red control you can get tethered versions.
Hi. I agree with Jim, your best bet and cost effective would be the z21. Also providing then walkabout throttles via tablet or smartphone. Next step up but German oriented might be the Tams Mastercontrol. If you are ok with computers then the DiCo station from LDT is another. All these are half the price or less then that for an Ecos. The z21 is best bet though. Robert.
Thanks Robert....yes i have had my eye on the Z21 for ages and a lot of people have said go for it and as its half the price of the ECOS i think we have a winner.
Hi Terry, I had the same problem with the Dynamis, don't quote me on this but if you quick program your decoders with just two digit roster location numbers you can only get 40 loco's on the roster. Now, I've not used mine for ages but from memory I think you can program the decoders with 4 digit numbers and you can get up to 99 loco's programmed in. You might want to look into this if you haven't already, I could be wrong but I think that's how I got round it. I think I ended up with 40 loco's on two digit programming and the rest I put onto four digit programming.
Gud vid bud! Its lookin even mor impressive with the additions/changes! Im glad u kept the siding where the EWS 08 is, i like that :) nice running to, again with the other impressive 08! Gud job mate
I hated my Dynamis, the trigger just never felt right for speeding up / slowing down trains and it would constantly disconnect and stop everything if I put it down away from the receiver. It broke and I started using a Hornby Select. The dial felt so much better. Not very ideal for a large layout like yours, mine is just a plank though. I'd always opt for a system with a dial over a trigger any day, a lot more control.
I've had an Elite, which is basically a double Select, for a loft layout and oddly didn't like it. The dials on that don't go from on to off rather just keep spinning around which just didn't feel right. Strange how such a small difference can make or break it. If I remember correctly the Elite was quite low on power too.
HI I want to know if you have any videos on weathering track as your track looks really good .or maybe you might have some tips I could put to good use as I've now finished laying all my track and I am unsure to airbrush the track before I do the the ballast or after. which will give me the best result ? Cheers Bob 😨
Hi Bob I dont have a video on this subject but people do it in different ways. some spray the track before the ballast and just leave it which still looks good but not realistic in my opinion. me personally do the ballast first and once dry i airbrush the sides of the rail heads in sleeper grime and around the surrounding areas and then a light coat of weathered black down the center of the rails. i apply a lot of black on areas that see a lot of traffic like junctions and points as well as sidings in yards where locos stand ticking over as well as around the platforms.
Hey no worries dude. I have managed to track down a few good vids on RU-vid and I must say my track is looking good .. ill be putting up some blogs soon be sure to check em out . Im working in n gauge . building Lostwithel Station Cornwall
What is the silver covering you have covering the backwalls / roof please. My layout is in the loft and really suffers from stuff failing from the rafters. Thanks Dave.
Its foil insulation you can buy it in rolls from B&Q. well worth putting up as it will keep the loft clean and warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Its a must in my opinion.
Rocco is good I would use rail master. Gauge master is great easy to use and cheep on eBay There was another one euro at gauge master witch had led display with a turntable function and better sound uses. For me the gauge is the best for a large layout and with 2nd has eBay worth a try
lol yes it can be a very expensive hobby so it is good to learn from others as there are so many pit falls where you will waste so much money as i did at the start. Good luck tho mate.
It's such a Great Shame! But we have to understand the bigger picture of life and it was time for Terry to move on! Who knows when the time and circumstance "Glebe Road" may resume, in the mean time there's a whole host of interesting videos to watch!
Rather than a shelf have a n or z narrow gauge train running up a hill Town have a different maybe a football ground racecourse or a castle or something different . Try faller digital car system Try moving boats in a river canal. Try make it a large cbd lot a high street brands lot of restaurants Busses and stuff. Try digital faller road be amazing to see moving road as well As rail
Another great update, Please check out my new layout I'm showing on youtube "Brockwell Lane TMD" it's pretty much your fault I've done it after admiring your layout updates and wanting to do the same. Look forward to the next.
