thanks so much for the video, I have the rare opportunity to pick one of these scooters up for an off-season bargain price. Really glad you pointed out the recall / pattern failure items, I'm definitely going to check up on that but either way now I'm really ready to commit to the purchase.
i have both the aprilia atlantic 500 and the honda cn 250 helix you have in the background. mine have not been used in years. the aprilia i bought new september 2005 in hilton blue, very rare colour. keep in touch, bill...
Good video bro! I've got that Aprilia since 2010. The american version is quite different than the european one. So I think your bike is pretty better your than mine 'cause you've got all the cromas, a new seat that looks very confortable and all that kind of stuff, you know. Pretty cool bike man! Congrats!
I really like mine. I have the accessories that you have as well. Except for the wind guard. I did have an issue with my rear drive pulley...The "moveable" half of the pulley broke at the rivets in the center.... I found the whole assembly for a smoking price at the Aprilia superstore online. Great people, and prices. I also have some electrical oddities, but works great 98% of the time. I also just bought a Ballistic evo2 lh neg. battery. I will be putting in soon. Nice video.
I have Aprilla Atlantic 500 and it has been the most awesome bike i owned to date. IM super glad to find out about the accessories, but the import shipping sounds costly.
In regards to storage, a full size helmet fits under the seat with extra room to spare. The glove box is small and has an area for small object like a phone located next to electric outlet. There is also another area in the globe box for important papers or a box of smokes. Regarding the foot pegs, they can be found at any motorcycle gear store. They are the one inch kind.
I got the tank bag used. You can search European sites for the bag but shipping is expensive. You can buy a Givi tank generic bag but they are smaller and don't have/need straps to secure it to the floor. I also found the rear bag used on Ebay. The wind cover was purchased from a European site. OEM Accessories are hard to find.
Hy! :) Could you tell me please, how many Volts are displayed while running the engine? Here is mine: Aprilia Atlantic 500 first start pretty interesting, i expected more while running.
Do you still own the scooter? I purchased my 2004 Atlantic 500 used 2 years ago (March 2019) for $500 with 4,300 miles on it. Now (Dec 2020) have almost 12,000 miles on it. What I've fixed/upgraded so far: - I installed Mosfet Voltage Regulator. - Fixed melted wires in harnesses going to the regulator and fuses with larger guage wire (probably why they recalled voltage regulator) finally got at least 13.5 volts, instead of the 12.4volts (with stock bulbs). - Reupholstered the sun baked and torn seat (poor bike was left outside in the hot NM sun) - Installed Fahren LED headlights, Sylvania ZEVO LED red in taillights, LEDs for license plate light & trunk.(now getting 14.3 volts(this is the optimal voltage) - Replaced the 12v outlet with a better working one. - Changed All fluids except for the coolant. Only issue now after long highway rides is a hard start (fuel starvation) issue most likely to fuel line recall that you mentioned I this video that still needs to be done.
Thanx for the video. I've found one in Phoenix. I've been looking for a Maxi for a long time and this one looks interesting. One question, how is the on-board storage? Does more than a helmet fit under the seat? Is the "glove box" roomy? Thanx again for the video.
Rod; I have a chance to buy one, dont know if recall was done. You def need those hi way pegs no place to put feet except on the lower boards. My question is what are these worth? NADA book says 2550 full retail. Dealer wants 3000, but I feel he's too high, especially with the unknown recalls. What do you think?
This wonderful scooter is up for sale. I bought a larger scooter (Burgman 650) and I'm selling for $3K with all accessories. Pretty firm as it has only 20k miles with new belt, rollers, tires, and fluid changes. I really hate to see it go. The Burgman's seat is no where as comfortable as this seat and the Atlantic gets much better gas mileage (+10mpg). I got the Burgman for better two up long distance riding.
Hi. I have the same scooter. Stopped running. Does not turn the starter. We need to take it off to check. How difficult is it to do? How to remove the starter?
Get the VIN number from the bike & call a Vespa or Aprilia dealer to verify the recall was done. Any dealer service center will do it, if they have the time. If the fuel pump recall is done & the bike is ready to ride with no maintenance at all, that price maybe OK. You should compare that price to a used Burgman 400 or Majesty 400. If the bike will need tires soon, oil change, transmission maintenance (oil, belt, & rollers), brakes bleed or pads changed, that price is too high. Good Luck
