A short review of the amazing Aprilia RSV4 RF superbike. The review portion is brief as I only had a short time with the bike, but it made for a gorgeous subject for beauty shots!

Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Adobe After Effects
Shot on location in San Diego, CA. Professional rider on a closed course. Always obey all traffic laws and wear safety gear!

UPDATE: I rode this bike at the track last weekend and it has ZERO faults! Even the super tall gearing complaint melts away, despite our local track not needing very tall gears. The bike has so much power that when you keep the revs up it pulls that tall gear effortlessly. Absolute RIPPER!!

Reduce the front sprocket to 15T and re-flash the ECU to Corse using OpenFlash Tablet and its an incredible machine

Greg S I went with the factory race ECU, Akropovich Evolution titanium race exhaust, 520 conversion, oz gas wheels, and a ton of other shit. Hoping to not change the gearing. The build is on Superbikeunlimited Instagram page.

Hi Goat, i heard you off the wheelie control and u power wheelie as i can tell, how do you maintain at comfortable heights and manage to bring it down smoothly? You control your throttle and tap on the rear brakes to control?

Looking forward to the Tuono video, short circuit track and most riders will still be faster on the Tuono. The extra 100cc is really worth it. The “Super Naked” call is unbelievable, they’re all absolutely stunning machines!

The 2017-2020 bike has also a different rear suspension link (you can recognize it by its red color) which allows the ttx to work way better along with the new swimgarm!

Do you like rf or r1/r1m? How reliable is rsv4 in long term? Much more expensive to own than r1? A comparison video on track and road would be awesome!

The R1 is a great bike, check my channel there's a review of the R1 I did last year. As for reliability of the RSV4, my 2013 has 40,000 miles on it with only a couple hiccups. I'm working on a long term review video now so watch for that one soon. A comparison video between the two is a great idea too, I'll add that to the to-do list.

Continuing on the end there lol if you had to have one bike in between the tuono or the rsv4 for a everyday/track bike which bike would you go with? More everyday than track obviously

If I could only have one, I'd sell my RSV4 and keep the Tuono for sure. Even going to the track every month, I still end up with a LOT more street miles than track miles. The Tuono is a blast at the track, and only gives up a little top-end to the RSV4. There is an airbox mod you can do to the Tuono to get some of that top end back, I'm working on a video for that now actually.

For sure, I think it's only when you compare back to back with the more torquey Tuono that it's noticeable.

For sure, it's not all that much different from my '13 RSV4 and I put 40,000 miles on that bike riding it every day for the last 3-4 years. Having the Tuono now though I realize just how much better of an everyday bike it is. The RSV4 is no worse of an everyday bike than any other full fairing committed riding position sport bike.

@@FlyingGoatMedia I'm debating between a 2017 RSV4 RF and 2019 Tuono Factory --- I got offer for same price. The RSV4 RF comes with full Akro system. I would be using the bike for purely weekend riding (no commuting) and about 10 trackdays a year. What do you think I should get? Thanks!

Remember, 8K+ is actually midrange for that motor, unlike the Tuono. Otherwise I overall agree... the Tuono is a better street bike and the RSV4 is a better track bike.

True. I feel like a broken record bitching about the gearing over and over, but with slightly shorter gearing the powerband would be more exploitable. Really the only reason it's probably so obvious to me is because I've put so many miles on both a shorter geared RSV4 and the new Tuono. I'm bringing both my RSV4 and Tuono to the track next month, it will be an interesting comparison!

Id agree with the lack of mid range on the bike. I have a 17 Daytona 675R and I feel I could take the RF in that down low. It comes alive at 5 the RF does. I chose the RF over a V4 in a back to back test ride. Both are great I was splitting hairs but i just liked the RF better.

The craziest thing is that someone with zero experience can roll into a dealership and leave with a 200 horsepower superbike, without even having a motorcycle license. Other countries have tiered licensing where you're forced to spend time learning on smaller more manageable bikes before you can move onto bigger and faster machines.
