I'll be arriving in Los Angeles July 9th on a chartered plane from Albuquerque that was filled in less than a minute with my team New Mexico United players, coaches, owner, some front office staff and lots of fans. We're flying into L.A. to play the MLS LAFC for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Wednesday, July 10th at BOM stadium. I would love to meet and enjoy some great soccer with Aptera reservationists if any are able to go to the game., even if you cheer for LAFC LOL. We'll always cheer for Aptera together!!! My latest book SOMOS UNIDOS TO WIN was put together and published to give as a gift to United on the plane and to benefit its SOMOS UNIDOS FOUNDATION for New Mexico's youth.

I hope Helen’s guess “ Spring 2025 is right… Spring Apterae brings --=Ξ[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] ! Remember how people say “ I hope my vehicle isn’t built on Monday or the last day of the week/ before a holiday break (?) I think with Aptera it will be different. All those “positively charged” assembly technicians (insert Lego person here 😉) ⚡There will be extra 💚🤗 assembling those Apterae! ⚡ I think we might have to keep Chad on a “short leash” when he revisits Aptera 😉

Just one question to Helen: did that lightweight HVAC thing contain any moving parts or was it a one piece (or few glued/snapped together pieces) structure?

The biggest shock of the video for me was seeing the exploded BinC from JVC World in France. That is not PI1. We're seen PI1 in other videos and it's roof is sitting on the frame. We saw it when Chris showed where the HVAC system goes. So there are at least two minimal BinCs sitting at the factory. This isn't really a surprise, we know that Aptera has a supply of body components for CPC. But here we can see that there are at least two that have been assembled, and one is bring maintained as a display unit to show how the BinC is put together. They clearly have a surplus if they can leave display models sitting around like that. Certainly the JVC World BinC was not reused to create PI1. PI2 and PI3 should be just as easy to assemble when needed.

Aptera reminds me of Larian Studios. For those of you who are not gamers. Larian made a video game last year called Baldur's Gate 3. The game is on the short list of best games ever. Critically acclaimed by players and critics. It won so many awards I lost count. What makes them special is the way they treat the customer. They listen to the feedback and seem to really care what we think. This is where the two companies seem to have a lot in common. I'm always happy to support companies like Aptera. If they fail I'll definitely be disappointed but I'll not have any regrets. I'm excited for Aptera. The PI builds can't come fast enough. Right now that is what I am most excited to see. Real life data from the PI builds could change everything for the company. Especially if it does well.

This was fantastic! Thanks for sharing your visit. I’m a kindred spirit with you all. I’m currently accelerator #345 and would like to move up to the middle 200’s. I hope Helen is right cuz that would mean I’d probably get mine before the end of next school year. I’m basically timing my retirement with when I get my Aptera. It’s going to be my life and hobby. Spending my days driving and spreading the good news of solar mobility. I’m pretty confident that me and my accelerator #2?? can get a few referrals a day. I’m that loud and scary (funny when they’ve had me) teacher, so just wait to see me out in public with my Aptera. Oh, my wife gave me permission to invite you all to stay over if you want to save hotel money. I live 51 miles north of Aptera in Mission Viejo in OC.

Regarding the solar hood, smooth is good but reflective isn't. When the sun's rays are hitting the panel straight on, there's about a 4% loss in power because of the reflectivity. More than 4% as the sun's rays deviate from hitting the panels straight on.

Looking at the exploded animations, the solar panels, hood, dash, roof, and hatch will all attach to strong frame structures. I believe that the lightweight HVAC unit is one of the components that will be provided by Chery automotive (one of the world's largest automakers), so it should be efficient, lightweight, and reliable. The big board with the wires strung out is most likely the wiring harness board, being built and tested by Yazaki. The finalized wiring harness is probably being laid out now in the first PI build body, with all of the components and accessories being tested. This process will be ongoing, as Aptera gets the necessary components for the completed builds. Thanks to Helen, Jerry, Sarah and Chad for this latest update, showing Aptera's progress.

I assume production refinement will occur during production. That is why I believe production will start in 2024. It will be a slow start. I asked a question about the learning curve that I haven't received an answer for that was an attempt to get information on this.

I hope you're right I really really do. I'm so excited to see this vehicle on the roads. However expect delays and problems they can't address until they happen. My guess is that the first production cars will be 4th Qtr 2025. Maybe as late as December with just a 100 or so going out before the end of the year. As far as PI builds go. Given some of the production issues I'm thinking September or October before we see them built.

Aptera posted the following quote on Aptera Owners Club channel a few days ago. The video name is, "Is something happening with Aptera and Elaphe?" "Elaphe remains a valued partner in our journey. Due to market constraints last year, we paused some custom engineering projects to explore off-the-shelf solutions that require less capital and offer a faster time to market, while retaining our efficiency ethos. We will have more to share on our production drivetrain soon."

I believe that the assumption that Elaphe won't be working with Aptera is incorrect. But it may be that Aptera uses one of Elaphe's standard in-wheel motors, rather than a custom designed motor for the Aptera, to start.

I'm wondering how much the heat and AC will affect the 10 miles per kWh. I'm also curious as to how much weight affects the vehicle. For example. 2 people that weigh a combined 459lbs. Let's say another 200lbs of stuff in the back for a vacation. It's in the middle of the winter so the heat is running. How efficient will the vehicle be? How much do the real life scenarios affect the claimed range and performance? This is why I'm excited for the PI builds. I'm hoping to get some information on questions like these.

From the safety standpoint, repeating the moose test will also be key. There was discussion about capacity being 500 lbs. So, given your example, you would have overloaded the vehicle by 150+ lbs.. Not saying what you offered as a typical example was unreasonable at all- it’s likely very typical. But, the Beta had 300 lbs. or so of steel plates up front, the cargo location (high and rearward) is in the worst location for a 3-wheeler, so everyone will need an understanding of what’s safe in addition to what’s efficient. I have, for example, concerns that a 200 lb. driver with 300 lbs. up top could roll it if accelerating out of a tight right hand corner. A Polaris Slingshot, with no cargo, can roll if the stability control is turned off under these conditions. (You can Google the video). A Vanderhall won’t roll under these conditions as it is properly nose-heavy.

There will definitely be a loss of range from using AC or heat while driving. That is a fact with any EV. It's still more efficient than an ICE vehicle, since even though gas engines produce lots of heat that can be used in cold weather, that heat is wasted whether the weather is cold or not. The question is whether the power required will rise above the 700 W the solar panels generate. If cooling the interior from 120 degrees, almost certainly. If maintaining 70 degrees, perhaps not. If only cooling the battery and not the passenger compartment, you might be able to keep it going indefinitely. We'll have to see how the numbers shake out. At worst, you may have to keep your Aptera plugged in overnight.

@@richardryley3660in an earlier Video Chris A. Mentioned that in most conditions that the HVAC will draw Approximately 300watts to MAINTAIN temperature, don’t forget the composite body is MUCH more insulating ( like a thermos) than a traditional steel body.

I know that solar currently has a 25 -40 % efficiency limit, but i expect that as we reach or even surpass that limit Aptera will be incorporating those next generation of solar cells into their vehicles. I can't wait to see where Aptera takes us in the future!

If the science is correct, 90mph strike from a piece of hail could damage the glass at 45mph if both were traveling at the same speed. (45+45=90) hail free fall speed is 9-25mph. Your travel speed will determine any damage. Sitting still would be best.

Has to be in guessing. We drive our EVs through the carwash, rain, snow and whatever else. Never owned a garage here in Michigan. In the winter the snow can be brutal.
