Thanks for doing this. I bought one of these a while back for a 20 gallon build and haven't gotten to run it yet. Still working on the aquascaping. Good to know it's looking good.
You can rotate the inlet tube if you run the hood for more clearance to open the hood further, but hood will clear and open with setup in standard position.
It fits no problem. I test fit mine on my standard 20 gallon, just haven't got to run it yet. For some reason I thought you asked if it would fit on a 20. LOL
"Anything better than nothing". Not sure if that's true. In a fish-only tank i would agree 100%, but corals could benefit from the extra nutrients of not having a skimmer. Like you said, you'll need to do weekly waterchanges anyway.
Yes weekly water changes is a must but thats also why I said "In my opinion anything is better than nothing". All in all it worked out it's a very nice skimmer and works very well. As everyone knows or should know protein skimmers can remove trace elements and we replace them by water changes and/or dosing
nice video, is there any way you can measure the sponge and the water output, also, if you could measure the over all L and W including the inlet pipe? thank you.
The unit itself is 5" wide, the depth from front to back including inlet pipe is 5.25", the outbound and inbound part is 3" wide and from front of tank frame it is 1 7/8" this includes the inbound tube. Height is between 12" - 16" depending where you put the collection cup height.
I just got this skimmer..its my first time trying one. The collection cup just keeps filling up with water. Is that why u have to break it in with the cup so high?
Looks like you've had it running for almost a week now. How's it going? I'm really interested, seeing how there is Zero info out there on this skimmer.
Just pull the airline off at the top where the silencer is carefully and put it in the skimmer water. Leave it there for about 3 to 5 minutes. I show you in video
I did during break in then I moved it to right above the black rim on bottom of collection cup. It may vary for others being I have very minimal bioload
