I had a question, do i put water inside the area of the pump?

Yes, you must fill the chamber containing the pump, then put the air line from the pump under water then turn the pump on. Once the water is flowing remove the air line to start the skimmer bubbles

Wouldn’t it be easier to get another filter? Unless the aquamaxx are that good, I’d just use an AC70 or a canister

Yes, it would be easier, but the aquamaxx has a built in protein skimmer and it keeps the water sparkling clean
