Frank just has the most personality of all your fish at least from the view of the little time we have with them in each video so thats prob why people like him so much.
The 375 is supposed to be a planted tank! I think you should take advantage of the excellent lighting, aquasoil and co2 system to grow more plants! It would be a waste just to grow moss in my opinion. You could swap over to Jungle val to get a more dramatic look or try some stem plants for faster growth. I've had a few Hygros that grew irritatingly fast.
A bunch of short plants growing in and around the rocks would look great, like the wood is bursting forth from the vegetation. Without more plants he's basically wasting every aquascapers dream.
I just added the lights to these tanks moments before the video was made. I'll need to make adjustments to get rid of the shadow from the braces. PS: WHO SENT ME THE SHELLS!? lol
think he needs a bit more light over them? That ecotech is strong, but it does look pretty dark in the val section.. Once they get long enough to drift over the drift wood, then he could probably get away without the additional light
TheLizander once he gets them in some more lights and they take off he'll be happy he didn't remove it. For the extra nutrients he could add floaters or a refugium with plants in the sump.
grow them out in another tank until they get bigger than reintroduce them back in. that way you could fertilize more and co2 and more light to expedite the growing process.
I agree! I had Val and it all died off when I planted it (in a dirt substrate) but the roots lived and then it came back with a vengeance! It just needs more time.
I always see youtubers receiving an overwhelming amount of fan mail/fan art. I always thought a good way to display them without taking up a ton of real estate on the wall is one of those poster binder showcases you would find at an HMV of a wal mart. It's like a large poster size binder you hang on the wall and flip thought all of the art/posters. Maybe that would work in the gallery?? Don't get me wrong. Beautifully framed pictures are the best way to display. It's just a lot of wall space taken up.
The shadow from the cross brace is so unsightly. Maybe split the lighting so you have 1 light either side or fit a strip of flexible LED's to lessen the shadow? The aulonocara jacobfreibergi are beautiful.
Ooooo, im very excited for the Discus tank and the Angelfish tank. The angelfish tank seems like a nice surprise. But overall, the peacock tank has to be my current favorite, the colors are absolutely beautiful! Like if you agree ;)
Great video Joey! Loved the tank updates and the fan un-boxings! Your subscribers truly appreciate what you do! Looking forward to watching your new additions to the fish gallery and how the existing tanks mature!
Ahhh! Please don't remove the rear section of the 375 :( I really like the current layout and I think it'd look a lot more artificial without the grasses and soil
I think this is my favourite channel on YT right now :) peacock tank looks amazing, I hope to have something like that of my own....one day!! Loving your work Joey 👍👌
Really enjoy what you are doing! Thank you! Maybe consider switching you current Val in the planted tank to jungle Val. Grows taller and would trail across the tank better. Could take the current Val and put in small containers hidden in the wood might creat a neat affect. Depends on whether you are going for a simplistic look with just the moss and wood which has become pretty awesome. Keep up the fantastic dream!!
This did truly make my day. It was one of those days at work where its 103 outside and I was out in it getting sun burned......life in Texas. I get home and your video is just waiting for me to watch! The coconut top made me laugh, and I needed that!!! Hope you feel better soon....the tanks are looking mighty fine!! Totally amazing to watch the gallery change!!
For the letters and art, you can put them in a scrapbook. For larger items you put pockets or pull outs. I feel like it would be a cool video to make to go through a scrapbook of fan offerings once it is full.
Frank look like a pink dolphin. Peacock is indeed beautiful, a good mix of color in there. Am I the only one who feel excited watching you unbox those mails? I hope to see more of that (if any) in future.
I'd recommend Kerri Tetra (Purple Emperor/Royal Tetra) with the discus. They're active, unusual/rare but available to the mass market, a good size (not small nor too big) and most importantly they are a GORGEOUS colour. Bright blue in natural sunlight, deep rich purple in more artificial light.
For the substract section in the planted tank, you could plant some red lotus plants, they grow very fast, its roots holds and fills the substact very well sucking up all nitrate and amonia, and you can choose if you want submerse red leafs or floating ones.
I'm starting up my hexagon aquarium - the tank I had when I was a kid two decades ago - and you're giving me so many ideas from your videos. The 3D backgrounds in particular 👍
@joe as you showed the 375 I thought it would look stunning if you'd hang some branches of wood over the tank with some orchids or what .... (Think it would make you feel being more IN the tank than "just standing outside":D )
The brace shadow seems to makes a mess of the overall effect of the tanks with the single point of light. Would it be possible to put the light off to one side and angled to the opposite bottom corner to have a ray of sun effect?
Very difficult to pick a favorite tank 'cause they are all AWESOME! I think cardinal tetras would work well with the discus. Anyway, thanks for all you do, and I hope you are feeling better soon.
Those Calico-Esque peacock Cichlids remain one of the most breathtaking fish I've ever seen in an aquarium, what I wouldn't give for a tank full of them lol.
I think the val in the rainbow tank looks fine bro. Remember tanks are a journey not a destination! You know this if anyone does! Don't get frustrated that everything isn't perfect right this min. Enjoy the journey. Just my opinion. I enjoy your vids very much and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
your channel is literally the reason i go back and forth between salt and fresh. you make those freshwater fish look like a dream. keep up the cool stuff! love the channel
So excited for the discus tank! Such a cool scale. Love the whole gallery and thanks for showing us normies how incredible we too can make our tanks at home. PS. Can I just be Frank for a day? That's probably enough happiness to last a lifetime.
I like the tree coming out of the grass idea and grass is meant to be short. But I understand your issue with the added nutrients in the water. Go with your gut!
Uaru tank.... keep dark like you said.... but then (if possible) have "rays" of light shoot through... as if the light was passing through the tree roots... and watch the fish pass through light then dark. Awesome effect. And attention to detail
Some green neons would look really good with the red discus! There's enough red without cardinals, although either would be amazing! Cant wait to see your proper school compared to my total of 9 green neons!
Can you talk more about your quarantine tanks and how you treat the fish. You mentioned medicating their food? I've never done this but know I should. Some more info would help
Since you got so many pictures and wall real estate is at a premium, you could make a great scrap/coffee book table with them. I don't know anything about scrapbooking, but this seems like a perfect way to memorialize Buddy or document the "art of the fish gallery"
Yes, in fact this video did brighten my day. I love watching you, and your very informative videos. Your knowledge of the hobby impresses me. Thanks for sharing your passion.
I'd be interested in seeing a timelapse of you cleaning them all, just like your older build videos. (to get a real feel for how much work you have to do :D)
Wait with the 375... Don't be hasty! The wait will be well worth it. Experience taught me that first and initial thoughts and ideas are always the best, stick with them. Tank looks great and in a few months you will proudly look back and be glad you stuck too your plan. You should know, greatness takes time. :0)
Joey, will you ever bring back the fancy goldfish? As a fancy goldfish keeper, that was the best looking, prettiest tank/fish you've had. Bring em back. :D
Don't remove the Valis. It'll take a few months to grow out how you want - don't forget these things are still putting down proper roots at the moment. One thing I've learned from this hobby is nothing truely good happens quickly. Be patient! If you leave it alone the charactor of the tank will change over time for the better.
Val takes a little bit to get going and it likes light. When I first started my Val background on my 60 i added root tabs to help feed it and get it through the melt phase. once it took off I was cutting out 6" to 10" a week! I still root tab every couple of months or so. But i don't have a few hundred rainbows feeding mine either.
Joey i had the same problem with the valisneria and then as soon as i put co2 in the tank it started to grow like crazy, cutting down almost 1 foot every week and when is long enough to grow to the surface of the water and follow the flow it became absolutely stunning.
