Same story here. I have the generator, but it doesn't get rolled out unless I have the expectation that the power is going to be out for a while (ice storm, for example), and I have to be here, for sure. This give a little peace of mind, which is nice. I should work a battery backup in somewhere as well, probably on circulation pump. That may be the future.
Thanks for shareing, I really appreciate the internal view. The fact that it runs off a DC motor means it's not sutible for 24/7 use as that motor will fail pretty soon.
Jeff you may need a lot more than two of these, though... TBH, I will look into a house generator sometime in the near future. We already have propane for heat, so it would plumb in pretty easy.
laminar flow Yeah I’ve checked into those as well..for me it’s tough to justify since we rarely have power outages..I’m thinking a power head on battery backup and an air stone like you have under it, so the bubbles would get spread through the tank in an outage..definitely need to get something going ASAP to be safe
Better safe than sorry.... when I lost my power and I was starting my tank whole night bitching i decided to get some power back up so i purchased a aquarium pump exlender.... but i do also have ac/dc pump One more thing don't forget to replace the batteries once in a while with fresh ones
I ordered this pump last night after the wind storm we had yesterday tht knocked tons of power lines in Toronto. Luckily our power came back in 30 mins but tht gave me a scare...
Do you leave the pump in the on or off position for automation? I can’t get mine to come on automatically when I turn the power bar off and when I turn it on it just runs all the time. Thanks! Great vid!
Lane Unger the pump is "on", but will only run when there is no power from the plug. So, you can test it without being plugged in, then when you do plug it in, it should go off. Make sense?
Got a whopping 5 fish in there, yeah! Two more in QT will enter this weekend, but won't add a lot of activity. I have the filtration pretty well setup these days, so I will be ready to add add some tangs in the near future. Maybe santa will bring me some cash to spray around at the LFS! No, wait, it doesn't work that way...
Sad to say I have had them in a drawer for a few months. Won't help there, right? I hear your comment from last week on the distribution of the air, but I really want to hide the stone rather than have it be a large eye sore.
