Hi. This is a helpful comment. Question though, if you have smaller fish in the 20 gallon, is the quietflow 20 okay for a 20 gallon, or do you think a quietflow 10 would suffice?
I'm not sure about putting a under size filter on but with a small bio load it's probably ok but I recommend putting at least the required size filter on just for circulation and filtering imo.
I was having alot of troubles with the pump at first it wasn’t turning on but after that i took it apart an started moving the blue piece inside the bottom bit to make it work ! So dont take it back just mess with it abit if u have the same trubles as me
I bought this device and followed instructions exactly and it won’t turn on. I’ve never had an aquarium before and don’t know if my water level is too high/low?
The water should be at least as high as the Aqueon words across the front of the motor area. If it is at least that high, then pop open the motor compartment and make sure the impeller is spinning freely. It's also possible you happened to get a bad one. Best of luck figuring it out!
Another great video review 🙌 one thing I don’t like about the light on it is that it goes from good to full. Doesn’t show if it’s half full or anywhere in between. If this had a basket design I’d get it. Was looking at this a few days ago at my local store but ended up getting the Topfin pro 30. I like the top fin for the customizable basket. Wish they’d switch to a submersed pump but I can’t complain since the design doesn’t allow all of the water out when turned off which means it does prime itself after a power outage. Just need to prime it manually when it’s brand new and occasionally after a big water change. I have the pro 30 on 2 small tanks and the top fin pro canister on my big tank. All have been so good to me 😅
This filter isn’t designed with extra space for them but sometimes people get creative and put a few in a small mesh bag and fit them into filters like this. They help hold more places for your good bacteria to grow. They aren’t needed if your tank isn’t over loaded.
I have a question, I have the Quietflow 10 (The thing is 6 years old). I broke the filter tube plate so I am getting a new one for my tank. I was wondering if I should put the old internal plastic parts and filter cartridges in the new Queitflow filter. or if I should just put the old cartridges in the new filter. I have fish in the tank so I don't want to kill my tanks cycle. I also have a filter intake sponge.
If it's at all possible to run both at the same time, do that. I wouldn't worry about the internal plastic parts because if you're doing good filter maintenance, those should get cleaned up very well periodically anyway. The old cartridge is probably a good idea. Unless you have some sort of removable media such as ceramic rings stuffed into it, the filter itself doesn't contain a whole lot of the good bacteria. There's going to be a lot more living on all the surfaces in your tank, especially the substrate if you have it. My main advice in these cases is to preserve as much as you can and go easy on feeding the fish for a couple weeks. Most fish can go days or weeks without eating so it should be easy to make sure to lightly feed them for a while. Good luck!
Will this filter over power a Betta fish? I was getting the 20 gal kit which comes with this filter and I noticed that this filter does not come with a way to turn it up or down.
They are doing great after 2 years they are all around 7 inches long. For your question, every tank is different, but the main thing is how much water movement do you have at the surface. If your filters move a lot of water at the top, you may not need an air pump. If your fish ever look stressed or like they are gasping for air, then get an air pump on there and see if they start to look better. If you have any doubt, maybe get an air pump anyway just to be safe. Thanks for the comment!!
