This Marineland Magniflow 360 canister filter hasn't been cleaned in over a year! Watch this video to see how to clean your filter. This has been a great filter for me and hasn't caused any issues other than the intake clogging up with leaves rather easily.

I’m so glad I found this for two reasons. One, I’m needing to clean my own and this video made it faaaaar less intimidating. And two, I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who has let it go for so long lol. Thanks for the video.

Hey Fish Man, I liked the video because it helped me decide to go ahead and buy the Magniflow 220 for our 30 gallon heavily planted aquarium. I'm replacing our Magnum 350 canister which is no longer on the market. One trick for keeping the intake from clogging up with plants is to use a sponge prefilter on the inlet. It keeps baby fish from getting sucked up as well. Anyway, I enjoyed your video. Keep 'em coming.

I put a large sponge prefilter on mine and it certainly helps. I just wish the screen was bigger in this model. Glad the video helped!

I hear a lot about leaks on ones more recently purchased so I hope you don't have that issue.

just a tip, I clean the filters in my planting beds as there is a lot of beneficial nutrients for the plants; and I dump the water from the canister around the roses, so feed and waters some of the plants in the yard

All that stuff in there is great for your plants as long as you don’t keep any salt in your water, as I know some people do.

Great video. I love these types of cleaning videos. Wild how dirty that was! So satisfying to watch 😅 As mentioned in another one of your videos, I returned both of these filters because of leaking. I know for a fact I could’ve fixed the leaks myself BUT when I considered the pros and cons vs buying the top fin pro 120s, I ended up with two of those instead. 1. Didn’t have to fix any leaks. 2. I can control the top fin via app and it tells me how dirty it is. 3. I personally think they look better and.. 4. I absolutely love how the cord comes off the filter so I don’t have to remove the top under my tank (my cords are cable managed behind so it’s a pain). Considering the top fin is still selling for under $150, I thought it was a no brainer for me. Especially since I already own 1 of them and haven’t had issues for over a year. Now I have 3 top fin pro 120s and they all have worked flawlessly and I’m happy. Thanks again for your videos. Your top fin video is what convinced me to buy the original 120.

I just had to return my Pro200 and ended up with two of these instead. I'm crossing my fingers that I get no issues or leaks like you mentioned. I also liked the look of the TopFin filters more. Plus the added app features I no longer have. It sucks that PetSmart discontinued both those filters though. Parts are difficult to come by.

Nice you're the reason I bought this filter when I saw your review,,, but I think you should put a sponge in the intake thanks for sharing 👍💯

Yes, I've considered a sponge as long it's coarse enough because I want to make sure the small particles make into the canister. Thanks for watching!

The biggest one is at least 8”. They are HUGE! Pretty soon they will need a larger tank. I want to make a short video on them so everyone can see.

I have a rattle sounds after I cleaned my canister, any tips on how to stop the rattle?
@FishyReview

Usually that’s either the impeller is a little wonky from being not quite in there right or maybe there is some debris. Also watch out for those little bio balls which can end up in the tubes that go between the media baskets. Air will make noise at first but I didn’t think you mean it was that.
@joshbalding2349
@joshbalding2349 5 месяцев назад
Definitely check for the bio balls. I had one in mine and it drove me crazy until I figured out what was making the noise! Lol

Sometimes it is difficult to push. If you push straight down on it with a whole lot of pressure it will usually work.

Want you kill the Beneficial Bacteria in the bio media if you rinse them with regular water especially if you use chlorine water from the facet.
@FishyReview
@FishyReview 15 дней назад
No, this is a myth that people keep repeating. If the water from the faucet was such a strong killer of bacteria, you would be able to wipe down your countertops with tap water and kill everything, right? I try to be quick about it and I do minimal rinsing of the bio media and I make sure to get it back in tank water within 15 minutes. Maybe a small percentage of the bacteria die but I’ve never crashed a cycle doing this. Could there be really strong chlorine in my tap water someday and it wipes it out? Maybe but that wouldn’t be too good for us humans either. BUT if you have any doubts or want to be extra careful then don’t use tap water.

very bad video, kill beneficial bacteria with tap water 😭😭😭😭
@FishyReview
@FishyReview 9 месяцев назад
I’ve cleaned my filters like that for 30 years and it never causes a problem. Just don’t let the media sit in the water and be quick about things.
@mikemccabe3913

I think it also depends where you are and where your water is coming from out of the tap. I live outside of Chicago and our tap water is hard and heavily chlorinated. I use my Magniflow on a 55 gallon saltwater tank and I do not use tap water to clean the equipment as many years ago it caused a red algae infestation that killed everything in the tank. Now I keep a couple of 5 gallon buckets of RODI water on hand when I clean my filter. @@FishyReview
