I remember when Arai first sold helmets in the US in the early 70s. I was at a trade show with friends and I looked over this helmet from the no-name Japanese manufacturer. I liked it a lot. It had a really nice interior and fit me well. I paid the $35 and took it home. I remember that my friends all mocked and derided me for it. Everybody knew that if you wanted a decent helmet you had to pay $70 or more and get a Bell. "Got a $35 head? Get a $35 helmet!", they all said. Arai has certainly come a long way.

its funny how people are complaining about the cost but seize to see its purpose. just to give you an idea, a MRI without insurance can be between $1500-$3000, a ride in a ambulance is $700, a regular ONE day stay in a hospital is an average off $2500 dollars and a ONE day stay in ICU can be upwards of $10k!! and don't forget also surgery ,if necessary. yes, $4k is a lot of money but that's for a purpose, a very good purpose. top grade safety gear will ALWAYS be cheaper then medical bills. DONT cheap out on gear folks!!!

For that price you should fly them to philly for a personal fit

Wow this is an awesome helmet. The price does not much in our current situation. But it’s one of the best helmet, no Christmas for the wife this December I am getting one. Please pray for me to live to ride next summer.

I realise we're talking handcrafted exotic gear here but for those chimichungas I'd expect some HUD and real time telemetry!

Handcrafted, and you're getting the full benefits, yes its worth it for those with big pockets i cant afford it, but i could. i would invest in it

For that price it should have HUD and augmented reality.

Ahhhh, Whistling death! I might buy it just because I love the history of the Corsair. As a matter of fact the Corsair is the state airplane from the area which I grew up in which was the state of Connecticut. There used to be one on a stand in front of Sikorsky airport. I would ride my ZX6 E3 down to the marshes at lordship flats and just stare at that Corsair. Long live the chance vought F4U Corsair and the a-7 Corsair II for that matter.

I've just got my first Arai chaser X here in New Zealand, which is DT-X in the US, and even in my size XS, the helmet weighs 1500 gms, which shows Arai does not compromise on the shell strength at all, absolutely Love it :)

$4000 a Helmet. Man, I already curse at mosquitos when I clean my $600 SHOEI. I'd go crazy with this one. No thanks! :-) This helmet should come with Bluetooth Coms and Heads-up display.

"Formula 1 carbon fiber". You can't say something like that without qualifying it. Might as well have said it's 4K, 10,000 watts, and 200HP.

Did I miss it? Lots of talking and promoting but the helmet wasn’t opened, the interior explored, the lining detailed, and taken apart. I don’t want a reference to another helmet. For this money I want a full breakdown.

Amusingly this is waaay heavier than my new Shoei glamster that only weighs 1215 grams... cost much much less, and looks better. :)
