ARB Summit Series Bumper Review - 3rd Gen Tacoma

R4T makes color matched caps that allow you to install without cutting if you’re willing to pay another $350

Iove the look of the arb summit bumper and the way it protects the front But I don't get the fact that you have to slice the shit out of it to make it fit lol

Will airbags ignite from small crashes or basic offroad, just wondering.

@@Jerbt basic off-roading will set off the air bag for sure. Stay on the highway

They replaced real bumpers with airbags unfortunately, real truck had 2 or 3 lives, now plastic is cheap replacement. Awesome bumper, I have on my 3rd gen 4runner. Great video

Does Toyota safer sense or any front camera or sensors get affected. I know the one I’m trying to get is very similar but I keep getting worried because my Tacoma is going to have like a little glass panel right under the word Tacoma and I think that’s like their safety sense camera or something. I’m trying to figure out if these bumper guards clear that.

Jokes aside, tacoma mod videos usually show a guy talking about esthetics and how cool it will look (garbage). This video only missed out the subject about approach angle and im not even mad because it makes more sense to talk about that in another video actually showing it.

There’s a way and I’ll explain it. For 1 you can’t run the heritage grille at all. You have to run a grille with the Toyota emblem in the center. Those lift the radar by 3 inches which is enough to clear. The raised radar also does not pick up the vertical bars as they’re too close. The camera is a non issue as trucks fitted with even safety sense 3.0 have the camera fitted to the top of the windshield so it’s not going to interfere with anything. The only issue is that heritage grille and getting a grille with the newer Toyota T emblem will relocate your radar and your all good

I'm not sure, my 2017 model doesn't have the TSS system. If I had to guess I would say not. Best thing to do is call up ARB and see what they say. Best of luck!

@@squaredawayeveryday Thanks ive been debating about if I should get an ARB or CBI front & rear bumper, im leaning towards the ARB because its designed to work with the factory air bags and tested to survive things like deer impacts in case the unexpected happens. Things like the survivability of the passengers and the truck are more important to me than aesthetics.

Hey man just saw this, it's literally just a raised sticker; It's not recessed into the bumper. Now that you've pointed it out, I'll probably just tear mine off as well.

I finally got around to power washing the truck and noticed a very slight recession in the bumper where the sticker goes. My bad on the previous comment, the truck was just too dirty to notice it. They really want you to keep that thing on there.

I believe they just realeased a 2021 model that works with TSS.

The 2017 didn't have those features, although I believe the 2021 ARB bumpers will work with the TSS system.

That's a great question, unfortunately the 2017 models don't have the TSS system; so it's not something I've had to research. Try giving ARB a call to see if they've tested this yet. If I were to guess, it would probably interfere with the camera, which may not be worth it to throw the TSS system off. I've had a few people tell me how the TSS system has saved them from accidents. Great question though, I'll follow up with you if I can come up with an answer.

Hey thanks for checking out the channel. In this video I'm running a 285/75/16 on a 16x8 wheel with a -10 offset.

I would guess you'll see a 1/4" sag with the addition of the bumper. Not too crazy of a deviation.

I average 17.2mpg with the tent on.

Yeah, it's the same wheel and tire set up as the grounded four.

In this vid the light was bolted to the provided plastic housing. Since then, I've used the Land Cruiser 200 mounts to flush mount these.

You could definitely run the front bumper and winch on a stock set up, however your nose sag and rake will be very noticeable (aesthetically and handling). You'll definitely need an alignment to prevent uneven tire wear. Hope this helps

Slee always does a great job, they're not the cheapest shop, but you get what you pay for. Not sure on pricing as of 2021.

I'm running the OME BP-51 suspension kit, the leafs I have on are the OME Dakar mediums with an add-a-leaf.

The new bumpers have a cut for the TSS.

I'm not sure, the TSS system didn't roll out until the 2018 and above Tacomas. I have the 2017 model, I'd try contacting ARB on this one.

Lol, there's no bracket currently on the market. Pretty much had to bolt the existing Baja bracket to the inside of the light housing pocket. Functionally it works, aesthetically it leaves something to be desired. Stay tuned though, I'm currently trying to get something worked out with Slee.

@@squaredawayeveryday Hey bro, awesome build, I just ordered mine and Ill have it in a week. I also cant stand the basic halogens that come with this bumper. I want to us my OEM round LEDs that came on my TRD OR. Or ill do light pods like you did. Do you happen to have a pic of how you installed them? Did you just screw in the pod bracket into the plastic housing?

Its more like 12 inches and 150 lbs. You shed 50 lbs when removing the stock configuration, so really 100 lbs additional weight. Best of luck though
