Knot tying video tutorial. Learn how to make a running bowline knot . Easy step by step instructions for tying a running bowline knot in this guide.
The running bowline is a workhorse for tree workers. It should be part of the arsenal of every tree worker’s climbing knots and rigging knots. What is the running bowline knot used for? It can be used for both basal and canopy anchors in your srt tree climbing system. To prevent accidents or falls make sure it is secured eg with a double overhand knot or with a Yosemite tie off. It is used extensively in rigging applications and rigging techniques for pruning or cutting down trees for removal, since the knot cinches down nicely on the tree limb. This knot is simply a regular bowline tied around its own standing part, it does not matter where around the standing part you tie it. This allows you to tie the knot far along the standing part and thus far from the rigging point. Since it forms a kind of sliding noose you can just then run it up by pulling on the standing part. This is useful for tip tying when it is awkward to get all the way out on a limb, and you have to lift the limb to avoid a utility or some other obstacle. This property has often also been used to tie off a tire swing or tree swing to an overhead branch.

Lovely demo. I will look at your channel: I’m looking for a series that demonstrates knots tied in practice, sometimes I find I can tie a knot in a line but mess up when I actually tie it around something! 😂

Any idea if a series of half hitches would work as well? Also, we learned to tie a bowline using this mantra: The rabbit comes up out of the hole, runs around the tree, and back down its hole. This helped me for years.

Of course, you could also tie the bowline on the end of your line then run the other end through the loop. This way you could throw the bowline end over the branch with enough slack to have it fall to the ground, push the other end through the loop and cinch it up to the branch. RE the bowline, if you want to learn only one knot in your life, that's the one. You can even tie two ropes together using it by making one on the end of line 1 and forming one on line two through the loop of line one.

Excellent tutorial. Many of these tutorials explain how to tie knots, but don't explain their application. This tutorial covers the practice and the application, and so is much more useful than some other videos. This knot should do the job nicely for my needs.

If the bowline in this configuration is pulled tight against something with steady tension on it, it would be very difficult to untie, wouldn’t it? I’m always on the lookout for a better hammock and tarp hanging knot for against the first anchor tree. My favorite at the moment is the slipped buntline. Thanks for sharing your knotty thoughts!

@@mayfalltribe4747 If we leave the end of the tail longer, can this be used for loosening when climbing down a tree? I saw a video where this guy was using some technique to secure himself when going down the tree as he was cutting it down.
@mayfalltribe4747
@mayfalltribe4747 5 лет назад
@@scientist100 I'd think for a knot that's gonna have a man dangling from it you'd wanna go with a double taut-line hitch(Google: 2 under 2 over knot) so there's a reduced chance of the knot slipping. I'm no knot expert but I rappelled in the army spent about 5 months or so in the boy scouts and have some relative exp trimming trees. A taut line hitch is good for securing ur guy lines to a tent peg and is easy to slide. Again, I'd ask an actual expert and not rely solely on yt input. Best of luck, man!

We used these in high angle rescue for securing a rope around a large tree as an anchor or used a canadian and a figure 8 on the other rope.

you don't have to think of it as a special knot. you just tie a normal bowline then feed the rope through the loop and that's it

I guess you could do a slip knot if you account for the direction of the load. I don't know how easy it would be to untie after a high load. Instructions on anchors and mid-line loops should do the trick.

Have you ever heard of a cantering bowline?
@alexsebastian8679
@alexsebastian8679 6 лет назад
A rock climber would never allow a rope to contact itself since when loaded abruptly, and the noose tightens, it cane burn through where to two sections of rope contact each other. Intense head can be rapidly generated during the split second when everything tightens up. better to add a carabiner to the loop so that the two sections of rope are separated. The function would not be changed but safer.

Для изготовления ловчей петли годятся только Ковбойский булинь и булинь Онтарио (петля "Светлана" Юрия Матасова) - но лучше них в лассо работает петля Хонда. Only the Cowboy Bowline and the Ontario Bowline are suitable for making hunting loops - but the Honda loop works better in the lasso. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vypL8bk9da4.html

it latterly took me forever to get a regular bowline. classmates can't even do the regular they do this instead when their up in the air (our trade is similar to arborists ) didn't really get it until the last day of classes on heavy pressure. not I'm trying to see how the running is any different.... the last step I find will screw you if you don't know where to stench it.
