Very skilled indeed. I do notice the music is dual mono. All other soundtracks on RU-vid as well, except the SNES port. Is that how the arcade is set-up?
"Bards! Go forth and tell the tale of the one who slew the mighty Gildiss! Just...leave out the part where I just stay in a corner and cut his toe repeatedly until he dies. That wouldn't sound very heroic."
I loved that game. Finished it on an emulator, but my brothers used to finish it on an actual arcade cabinet (I was too young at that time). Its difficulty is surprisingly balanced, it's not that hard for an arcade.
95 me 15 yo decided to play it at evening . I was playing long and when i reached last level i turned around and saw all machines were turned off and all people with owner lady standing behind me and watching me playing . It was during summer holidays at the sea side. Best memories. After that i was known there for whole my stay.
IIRC, I usually played the Cleric on this one. A great arcade game for any fan of D&D, Golden Axe, and/or Gauntlet. Also, the only game brave enough to give crossbows to werewolves! 7:04
They never had this anywhere near me. We had Golden Axe and Altered Beast (as a kid it was mind-blowing to see them transform into "man-beasts", especially the "weredragon" ).
I like Yoko Shimomura's work when she worked over at Capcom. As for her work at Square, the only thing I liked from her was her composition of the first Parasite Eve game. I feel that Kingdom Hearts should've NEVER been made.
i just noticed that when the character faces the right he holds the weapon with the right hand, but when he faces the right he holds it with the left hand
Anyone else recognize the dragon's sound effect later used on Fei Long's stage in SSF2T? they also used a lot of the sounds from this in Knights of the Round as well.
Lots of memoris in this game ...I rember when i was young guy in our local candy -store and playing on arcade machine.Maybe am wrong but i think was in 1992 or 1993. :D
Jogao dos anos 90... lembro que jogava esse e eoutros no fliperama. Nossa, nostalgia pura o ver essa obra prima. Ja hoje, os jogos sao totalemnte sem diversao alguma. Parabens pelo video.
So many memories i just humming the soundtrack all day whilst playing, then killing the dragons and hearing then scream and die out I can’t even explain this game is nostalgic.
The music bought me here and then looking at this game reminded me playing this game whenever I could back when I was like 6-7 I know I was young but I was still pretty good 😂
+Sebastian Brinkmann Glad I bought both long before they could (KoD, $14.99), or right before they did (DC $24.99). The prices are astronomical, and show no signs of coming down anytime soon. Sadly the SNES port, like Captain Commando, and Knights of the Round is slower in pacing, though CC is not so great on SNES due to not only it's pacing, but it's drab colors. But KoD and KotR are still all around fun, shame I didn't get KotR while it was still affordable all those years ago, I kick myself for that now.
Sebastian Brinkmann Someone made a fan-sequel that extends the number of classes, adds 4 guest characters, special moves, and a more free-form level system! I don't like the guy who made that one, but the game itself is incredibly impressive.
What version are you playing? I can't get extend at 160k I get extend only at 200k and I can't change dip switches. Please, what version of mame do you have and which rom? Thank you.
Man, it had to be this masterpiece, which inspired Castle Crashers! When I played that game, I kinda got King of Dragons vibes, best medieval themed beat em ups, ever!
I remember picking up the SNES port of this for a couple dollars from a pawn shop back in the day! It was one of my favorites to bust out when a friend was over, but I don’t think I ever made it past the spiders in Trent Woods… or maybe the very beginning of the next area.
I look back at the way japanese made games used to have the weight of buff characters across so many games, it makes me laugh. Clearly before the 2010s, people in the east had no idea how much people in the west could weigh. Still a great game from me childhood though :P
Always thought Japanese games that imitated old school D&D were darling, the way they patchwork in different western cultures. Looks as silly as when we patchwork Asian cultures together in our Mortal Kombat style games
