If you put like that than undertale would be a clone. People sometimes fell in love with a game and truly want to make something based on the things they love but with their own spin. other times someone with money points at a thing that SELLS and says DO IT LIKE THAT BUT NOT SIMILAR ENOUGH TO BE SUED!
Anyone who likes the beautiful artwork and style of these metal slug style games, check out In The Hunt. Although that game is a submarine style vehicle as the protag, the game delivers in dystopian, diesel punk artwork. The game is renowned for one of the best bosses ever. A gigantic Jason and the Argonauts style statue climbing after you from the depths of the abyss.
It might be very similar to metal slug but it manages to find it's own soul by placing some really unique mechanics on top of a tried and true formula, really really good game
You gotta admit, even though this does indeed have the same game mechanics as Metal Slug, this is still by far a bad ass game. I appreciate the upload dude.
I also just noticed. Every boss has a name that coincides with the relic you find in its stage, and the evil body-part that's corrupting the critter that turned into the boss. Big CLAW, Evil EYE, Twin HORN, Iron TOOTH, Demon HEART.
MEtal Slug clone yes, but a damn good stuff from what I'm seeing! It looks very well crafted with good ideas (that combo system is interesting!) and amazing graphics up to MS level I think! Really nice stuff, should find a way to play that!
Just found this gem while reading about another run an gun..I mean errr swim and gun (Dolphin Blue amazing Atomiswave game -get Demul) and of course when playing Demon Front you can't help but think of Metal Slug, but being inspired by probably the greatest run and gun series of all time is not a bad thing. This game like Metal Slug features great animations and detailed art work. Really puts most of these more modern games that try for the "retro" look to shame, you know the ones that think pixel/2d art is never more detailed than an old time nes cartridge. ./Rant Over There are differences between this and Metal Slug though, significant enough that I would not call this a MS Clone. First off this doesn't have vehicles which all Metal Slugs have in abundance. Second this adds some pretty big twist to standard formula, there is the charged shot that launches your animal friend against the opponent. You can also chose a shield which will wear down over time. The catch is if you pull the shield you loos your charged shot, in this way it adds a depth of strategy ; protection of fie power. Round that out with the ability to hover and you can see this is not a Metal Slug clone more of a inspiration. IF your like me and love old and rare arade beat em ups and run and gun be sure to check out these lesser known titles: Dolphin Blue - Mentioned above Battle circuit - Capcom's last 2d beat em up in the arcades ever, loads of fun with a sci fi plot and super powers. If you read this and know of any other lesser known bet em ups or run and gun, please fill free to reply with a reccomendation
Colin Harvey Battle Circuit is now officially available to play in the US thanks to the release of Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle for the Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC.
More than a decade ago there was a cabinet with this game in a short-lived arcade that existed near my house. I was completely amazed by this game, but could only finally run it through an emulator post-2010 (IIRC) because it wasn't working on MAME back then. Best Metal Slug clone EVER!
Demon front es un juegazo, para mí es el sucesor de metal slug. Lo que más se destaca del juego es el diseño gráfico que se ve increíble y es un título muy disfrutable.
Always loved this metal slug clone. It was really weird to see SNK and IGS working on the same hardware when they both made games for the atomiswave. I thought that was gonna be a promising piece of hardware but they both dropped it so quickly even though I think it has some fucking just amazing titles for it.
The similarities in style with metal slug are astonishing, and it's ironical considering metal slug was made by ex-IREM employees and many aspects of Gunforce 2/Geo Storm are used on the metal slug series. And let's be honest, the scenery is ten thousand times better than the N64-esque scenery they used on atomiswave.
Holy shit this game runs so smooth in mame, not even mslug feels this smooth on my gaming rig. Really smooth animations, great sound effects/music. A worthy "clone" if I ever saw one. I'm amazed it took me so long to discover this game through all the recommended lists I've scoured on the internet.
All this discussion in the comments just made me wish for a Metal Slug / Demon Front Crossover. It would be the craziest and coolest thing since Battletoads X Double Dragon XD
it has metal slug one hit and ur dead rule but it also has the little creatures that get more powerful by close range knife attacks and long range gon attacks.
I totally agree. And maybe they just couldn't get permission to make their own Metal Slug? Even non-profit fan-made games get f**ed sometimes by "official" companies (that happened to the guys who made a very nice game in the Bare Knuckle series, and got sued to their asses by SEGA). Just conjecturing, though.
Just a question... does the final boss "change" if you used a different character? Here, he seems to use Jake's pet (fire-based) to become "Flame"... so... yeah?
It is a rip-off, yeah we get it. Actually it is not as bad as one would think. The only problem I have with this game is the sound design. It is most noticeable with the grenade launcher, when the 4 little bombs explode. Because they explode most of the tiome at the same time you get a huge "BREAAOUNG" as an explosion sound because the sound of the explosions overlap themself.
