Arcade Longplay [584] Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters 

I wish this game was on some Midway arcade compilation for modern consoles. It's such an underrated gem.

Omg, do you know this moment when you discover something on the internet that you held dear in your childhood but totally forgot about. This is it! I loved this game and somehow a virus made it impossible for me to play my dear game. And now imagine the struggle: no internet, no clue on how to get another copy since I were playing pirate copies from my older brother. Now its back! Thank you so much!!!

I was obsessed with this cabinet 30 years ago. Only got to play it a half dozen times and it wasn't until MAME that I really got to sink my teeth in to it.

I'll always remember playing this a few times with my grandad at an arcade on holiday in Weston Super Mare in the early 90s. Don't think we ever made it any further than the second boss.

Somehow I missed this one as a kid. Playing it through emulation now. What a quarter hungry game!

As goofy as this game might look by today's standards, I think that is actually the point, this game is like a parody of all those B-Movies from back in the day... And frankly, I think "The Reptilons" look kind of AWESOME! Could it be high time for a REMAKE to this game?

I used to play this all the time when I was a kid. Never got further than a few levels in though, so this is my first time actually seeing the later parts of the game.

This game kinda seems like a predecessor to Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

When Jake/Luke pick up the bombs, the "Yeah" sounds alot like "Adult Male #1, American English" from Speakonia

My first videogame, at the age of 14...❤ I finished it many times, and after spending a lot of coins on this beautiful machine in the local arcade place... became a master of it..✊😃.After 33 Years, still looks super cool, and stylish, ...gonna find it, and play it again...If someone knows how, I would appreciate it..🙏Great memories...😇

I know this is about 35 years too late, but you can actually "bomb" your way through the washing machine walls in the boss arenas and bypass having to fight them.

I used to play this 2-up as a kid for hours!.. it was so satisfying.

That voice sounds like the voice module for the Intellivision/Colecovision.

This game was designed by one of the creators of Dark Castle for macintosh. No wonder the game design is so good!

Something a bit eye-rolling about an arcade game that overloads its own hardware to the point of slowdown and flicker for long segments. I appreciate the visual aesthetics, but I agree with those who say this was designed more to eat quarters than provide a great game experience.

This is a rare game which looks and plays better on the Atari than it does on its rival, the Amiga!

One of the local arcades in my hometown had this machine right next to Xenophobe. In my mind, there is no better combo of alien shooters on the market for that era.

How did this game escape having a timer on the normal levels? Seems like virtually every game other than most scrolling shooters had a time limit.

Gotta compare it to Amiga version. I was crazy about this game back then. Music is cool but I like it more on Amiga. The sound for getting bombs and extra lives is ok, but its much better on Amiga with "yea!". Slightly scrolling screen seems a little better than Amiga's "moving by sector" method. There was no speaking on Amiga before bonus game or a sound "uh-oh" when you nearly fell off. And to be honest - the speaking sounds quite bad. Almost like amateur talking simulator on Amiga. "You've been detected!" - only on arcade In arcade version game gives you much more ray power per green ball. It was almost impossible to get it to 3rd zone on Amiga. Usually got it after boss fight but it was lost soon. And what's the point giving so may "ray balls" from boss as you cannot get them all? On two player game I understand it. Amiga version is easier because on arcade it gives only one health bar per cabinet food but on Amiga it was always one whole life and four spare lives seems to be maximum on arcade. Boss fights are too easy on arcade as there is no homing bullets. Those red robots were always a pain in the ass. They are much more forgiving on arcade as they don't hurt you so soon. Port-o-matic effect is slightly better on Amiga. Shuttle was full with lesser hostages and every full shuttle gave extra life (or one health if you were short of it). Usually I killed myself on purpose to get full life and extra lives with full shuttles. No jumping or crouching on Amiga (or then I didn't know about those) and less electrical floors/traps. Nice to see that you can get flat when certain robot runs over you! Wall spikes were faster on Amiga. Too bad you did not get caught even once, would like to see the effect :) Game gave much more bombs on Amiga before every boss fight. Btw. It was possible to run through exit door by using bombs! Don't know if its possible on arcade too. Cool game on arcade too but way too easy. But good player also makes it look easy. Edit. Extra spaces off.

I'm starting to think that isometric games might be either underrated, or possibly the isometric Sonic games ruined them :/
