Good stuff again. Small points: Drill one hole per fan first. Add screw or bolt. Then drill the other three. Makes it easy to keep things aligned. Go back to psu for fan power and add a fuse. No guessing about effect of fans on other loads. Think hard about filters. You need them. No doubt. If you want to get this right, use a thermistor or other temperature sensor in line with fan. It will only trigger fan when needed. Use a rheostat to control fan speed and noise. Basically, the computer case modding people have this issue nailed down. Go read their stuff. Good video. Lots of areas to expand and develope.

My plan would have required more effort with less desirable results. Thank you for sharing your arcade knowledge with us.

@djfreebey There is usually an arrow on the side of the fan that shows which way the air is going to flow. Of course, if you do not see this arrow you can always plug it in and feel it for yourself. We have also featured your question on episode 15 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.

How would you wire the fan in an Atari classic with the old school power brick?

good vid, the one thing you forgot to mention is to beware what direction you have each fan facing... because you dont want all fans blowing in by mistake... even though you could probably just switch the two wires around if you already screwed it in.

I have two questions. 1- would putting a Fan in the back of the cabinet be the same as putting it under it? and should the fan be blowing inside the Cabinet or blowing hot air out?

thanks for the helpful video. I have an area 51/maximum force cabinet. The power supply is completely enclosed and doesn't have the screws in which you can loosen to hook up to. Any ideas where I can hook up 12 volts and a ground? in this particular cabinet?

It's too bad they have these vids to help, but can't answer questions for people who view them. It's hard to get answers to specific things.
