It looks great dude. This Supply house we go to all the time has a real Pac-Man machine in there and it looks exactly like that XL. And I agree with you, real arcades have machines of all different shapes and sizes. So I never really understood the obsession of people to keep their 3/4 scale arcade to look identical and uniform when real arcades were literally just a scattered random assortment of cabinets. Bet you next year we will see a mortal Kombat, Ms Pac-Man, or Street fighter XL.

The XL cabinet looks fantastic, I have been following the home arcade community for a few months now trying to decide what I want to buy to start my collection and I think the pacman XL is what I will go for. Something I noticed last night with the deluxe 81, I was in the garage waiting to sell and playing Rolling Thunder with my shoes on and the monitor just felt so much lower than it felt upstairs without shoes on. The other deluxe are fine, but the recessed monitor really sits low. XL is very comfortable.
Excellent review, Phil! I wasn't being tempted to get it until this review. I've been thinking about selling my Bandai Legacy and now I just wanna replace it with this, lol! I think my wife would enjoy Galaga on the big screen, and the games list is pretty darn good. I can't get rid of my Class of '81, though. Now THAT I'd like to see in an XL also.

I love this cabinet and XL is hands down the way to go if you have room. I'm really hoping Arcade1up makes a XL version of the Defender, Galaga and Mrs Pac-Man (black version) partycade. Them partycades have some of the best game lineups to me. I was going to buy this XL ASAP but I decided to wait until I get all my Costco cash cards. I signed up to Costco through Groupon and got a $45 use anywhere card, a $40 for over a $250 purchase. I then upgraded my card and applied for the Costco Visa and got another $50 Costco cash card. I used Costco Travel and booked me and my wife's anniversary cruise at the beginning on November and got another $215 Costco cash card for booking through Costco. Unfortunately I don't get that $215 card until 10 days after the 1st day of the cruise. So that's the only reason I'm waiting is to have all the $350 in Costco cash cards. Your PAC-MAN looks awesome! That scratch as the Game Genie would say makes it look arcade authentic. Great review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Excellent review!! Thought I’d for sure stick with 3/4 Deluxe but after hearing your breakdown, I’m probably selling my riser cabs and waiting for the XL cabs for everything. Was going to fully run with Deluxe but I guess it all comes down to how 2024 breaks down because they still seem to have more plans for Deluxe.

I bought this today and after watching your review on the Galaga I may have to get that also. Very happy with the current deal at Costco at 299 and for that this is a steal. I hope they do more XL’s for centipede and digdug.
Amazing times we live in, where we can walk into a retail outlet, or go online, and pick up a nearly full sized arcade cabinet. I'm enjoying the Deluxe versions of Pack-Man, and Class of 81. I have rooms set up for just the 3/4 scale units, and am slowly getting another ready for XL class cabinets. I consider the ALU as being in that class, given it's size. I do have a full sized DIY cab in works. I'm leaning heavily toward that Pac-Man XL. Still have all my peasant class units, too. They're in another room. Also working on a pinball room, too. Gonna have to miss out on the NOD pre-order of the new pinball table, though. Dang it. LOL. Took half a decade to build the collection. One cabinet at a time. You know. Congrats on that Pac-Man XL. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Thomas, there’s nothing like it :) being able to walk out of a store with an arcade is as exciting as scoring a new mini in 2017 lol. I’m putting off preordering ATGames too until later in the year I want a Star Trek skin. I’ll still get deluxe, but as long as XL come out I will swap out old to bring in those our hobby is expensive and a little nuts sometimes:) Thanks for watching 👊

Very nice review! Funny, 'cause I just bought the Pac-Mania cab (despite its flaws)... and I don't regret it. Vertical games work/look pretty good on 17" screens, so I've successfully fought the FOMO... on this cab. It would be very exciting to see 2 player games move forward in this form factor. Looks like A1up finally put out the cab that everyone wanted from the start. I'm guessing that this will sell like mad, esp if it ever drops a little in price.

Nice vid, cool XL. I personally enjoy the 3/4 size cabs with the risers... got a basement full of them:) Been collecting for years now. My OCD just won't let me combine cabs in my gameroom... much to different at this point. Definitely put in a ticket with 1Up... for that price absolutely nothing should be damaged;)

I was going to consider getting the Pacman Deluxe @ $399.00 black Friday sale, but the XL is just too hard to pass up at Costco @ $599.00 thanks for your convincing review and the price is just not about go down for several more months, but purchasing at Costco's satisfaction guarantee policy is an added insurance. I’m glad you pointed out the new Deluxe cabs are just as tall as the XL cabs. That 8 way joystick is a major drawback for this cab personally, mostly because idk if it’s even able to be swapped out. BTW Get a buystuff riser booster for X-Men you won’t regret it🎉
Hi. So I got the xl and am loving it. Here's a personal opinion question for you lol.. Should I get another one and keep it stored in the box just in case they go up in value or something. I know It's a long shot. But this cab here seams to be in short supply here at my costcos. I had to go to 5 different codtcos to actually find one that had them in stock and even then they had 10 and when I bought mine they had 2 left. Just wondering. Would you buy a 2nd one?

Pac man was never, ever on my radar. That cab is super sweet. Love the light up buttons. The 19 inch screen is a BIG deal. I can't buy 17 inch anymore. If I was exposed to this 3 days in a row, I'd be sucked in as well. Thank for all your hard work.

I pretty much felt the same way you did with your XL. This is actually the first A1up I've ever owned, I also agree that it's hard to want to get any other unit that's smaller than 19. I'm wondering how long it will take people to come up with mods for it. The only real thing I'd want to do, is maybe put in a better and sturdier joystick, and add games, preferably Namco System 1-3 games

The way he described how at first he didn’t plan on buying the Pac Man XL cab until around the third day, especially at 17:00 where he mentions the FOMO had got to me “Fear Of Missing Out” had me laughing. I do not blame him one bit, as nobody wants to be the one that missed out on a really cool looking cab such as this Pac Man XL.

Dude.......... I knew you couldn't hold back and would end up purchasing the Pac-Man XL. lol It really does look good and I would love to have one myself. Of course I would make sure the NAMCO decals were on the machine. As I would make it look exactly like the OG Pac-Man machine. Of course the T2 is on my radar and I may go to my local Best Buy and ask them if they have any in stock. Just to window shop of course. heh heh Well I should be starting to tear apart the top of the engine on my Grand Prix GTP this coming weekend. I hope I can get a local shop or somebody to check the heads as it is a lot of work to replace the head gaskets. And it would absolutely suck if they ended up being bad and I had to tear it all apart again.

Im late to the party but I wish this wasnt a Costco exclusive and wasnt sold out or else I would own one. Hopefully Arcade1up releases it again or as a Ms. Pacman
I played it at Costco and I think it’s really nice. My only complaint is maybe the joystick, but the cab itself looks fantastic and the screen is great. I would probably swap in a Sanwa joystick if I get one. This is the size and form factor Arcade1up should have gone with from the beginning. If it goes on sale, I’ll buy one. If they release Star Wars XL, that will be an instant buy for me.
I think 2024 will be the year for XL and SW is probably the next one. I was thinking and they’ve given us 10 deluxe this year I couldn’t believe when I thought it. Next year could be that many XL :)

I had no idea I'd be excited about a Pac Man. Saw this at my local Costco for whatever reason the XL just looked better. I passed on other XLs because they were mostly sports titles, which I'm not a fan of, but after this release I think I'm in on XLs. Give me a Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter XL
I was thinking about you when I did the comparison at Best Buy, it stinks that we both bought a deluxe and immediately trade it for XL. It’s just too good to pass up, I sold class of 81 to justify this :)
@PDX7 I'm actually going to gift the Deluxe to my girlfriend, and I've finally decided to sell the Ms. Pac head to head/cocktail since the Pac-man has the same games list plus more. All it's missing is Ms. Pac-man, but my Ms. Pac was also the first model without online and without without any setting options for the games. Hopefully we'll get an XL cocktail table in the future.
could I play this sitting in a desk chair? Or would I need a Stool? Im disabled and mainly stuck to the 4 foot tall cabs because I Can play them in a chair. but this looks lights out!!!
It’s 36” -38” from the floor, it might be hard on a chair. Stool would be perfect. The best for a chair would be the Pacman on or at Walmart that need the 12” riser.

Oh man you got it. I got one too. The costco here finally got em. Like you said the fomo kicked in. When I got home the ocd kicked in. I realized I had a damaged box and I just can't do it. Might think I'm nutty but I will be returning it for another one. I collect the boxes so having a damaged box is like a damaged arcade to me lol. I noticed you got some box damage too over on the side. That just kills me.
Hi Alex, it bothers me too. I was more worried when selecting the box in Costco I’d grab the one that doesn’t work lol. I’ll open a ticket after Cleveland, I still have all of my boxes too! No one ever wants them if they buy a cab from me. Swap it out today I totally get it :) this is one of the best yet Alex you’ll love it!
Oh it is. Looks just like the original from the 80s except it's bran new. That little area you have that the art is coming off on the side sucks to see that but yeh its an easy fix replacment when they send it to you.

I've been hearing that there will be PRO versions which are bigger than XL... I'm on the fence about getting a SHAQ XL cab (and i would modify the monitor with a dell replacement)

I like the XL design I wish the control panel wasnt swapped there is enough room for the red button and P1 P2 on the right and then throw over the 2 white buttons to the left. Maybe even a better control panel in general, waterfall one where the paint doesnt rub off and where you dont need a plastic cover, something similar to a real machines overlay for this price. I bought the pacman deluxe when they went on sale and I think im gonna stick with it, I just dont see myself having the room to cram a bunch of XL in my area. Thanks for the review been dying to see how these things look compared to others, keep it up👍
So the first 20 seconds of the video summarizes all of 2023 for the company, lol. Then I said to myself please don't sit their the whole video, gotta start walking and you delivered sir, lol. We went on another adventure. Comparison was also a plus. It's interesting to know the sound isn't as loud as deluxe but it's good enough in my opinion. Agree it's their best XL so far and DEFINITELY the best PacMan we have gotten so far.

What if you did something to make it so the height of every control panel on every arcade was the same height like if you built a little platform under each one having each platform be a different height for each arcade and to make it so every arcade it has the same height when it comes to the controls that would be so freaking that would be such a great series of videos to watch too if you even showed the making process of it all but anyways hope you have a good one
That’s a really good idea McCucumber :) the ideal height of a control panel really makes a difference. It would be a great challenge especially with all of the different types of cabs, Thank you for the idea 👊
i just got this for christmas and can’t figure out how to save my score when playing galaga. i’ve been looking it up and found someone said to hold the player 1 button for 5 seconds and it’ll take you to the home screen and save but that didn’t work for me. it just took me to the home screen but didn’t save my score so was just wondering if you’ve found a different way or if it was something on my end that didn’t work.
It might just save on online leaderboards, same thing happens with other online games I have once you exit their gone. The only thing we can do is try to climb leaderboards.
@@PDX7 Appreciate it, thanks. From what I understand, scan lines are not supported in the Deluxe and XL cabs. The choice of whether to include the feature seems pretty random.
They’re not mushy and I think much better than what we’ve been getting. I don’t notice much click, but very responsive and the joystick is very clicky.
Wow, side-by-side, it looks much wider. Looks like you have a real pacman machine now. The real deal there. I wish they did XLs only years ago. I spent so much money modding. I'll probably just stay with Deluxe, but it looks amazing.
There’s nothing wrong with staying with Deluxe either Eric. I love the deluxe too, TC is still coming and I haven’t completely ruled out SF2 HS-5 yet. That display until got me lol but this does make me want the Shaq Jam even more because of the size. Thank you for watching Eric!

At $599 Phil, I would expect that cabinet to be in perfect condition. I'd submit a ticket to Arcade1up customer service and get it replaced. Great review. For me, I'm going to wait for a Mortal Kombat XL, a Class of '81 XL and (hopefully) a Shinku Hadoken XL.

I realized this Pac-Man XL isn’t that great it plays laggy I guess that cause it has online play but so does the PS4 and Xbox one I don’t see them laggy the Pac-Man I bought in 2018 that got released first plays a lot better
Thanks for watching Emad, I think it’s more the look of the XL with the 19” monitor and the light up buttons and coin door that we go for this. Nothing will beat PS4,5 or Xbox it’s getting the closest to the real thing. I haven’t really noticed it, but seeing this on display at Costco is what sold me on it :)
XL's are the only way to go, going forward, no comparison, I'm sure those with tons of existing non XL's and risers are going to not like the size difference. Tell Lucky I said hi, hope she is doing better.

Pretty sad as consumers, we pay $500 plus for a product, we get it home it has some damage as if its used and we say, "If thats all the damage there is. Thats the best we can ask for."
This looks great PD7 but I will hold out for the Pro version of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man (black and pink only) with 20 or 22 games and a 22 inch BOE monitor. Now that there are changes for A1Up, we might finally get what many of us want!
This isn't just the best XL, it's the best they've made PERIOD. What they need to do now is increase the XL rollout into 2024. This is how it should have been since the beginning!

Great stuff bud, enjoy that beaut. That gash would have drove me nuts - there’s no reason to be getting imperfections in the wrap, A1U has been doing this for how many years now?! If you get a chance, could you maybe show a wider shot of the XL next to the regular cabs - just to get a better sense of scale.

I just sent back the deluxe version of this, thinking that I would wait until the XL hit the UK, if it ever does. However, it is going to be the same cabinet as the deluxe version, with all the same faults and goodness. Arcade 1up are going to either be sold off or go bankrupt, so do not expect them to produce a lot of these XL models. You might be buying the last XL version that they do, so you are going to have a room filled with Deluxe and then one larger machine which is only an extra three inches tall, so it is going to look out of place if you have a lot of deluxe cabinets, or cabinets on risers. You will still see the disgusting horrible split in the middle which is still a riser, if it was riser less then then would have two massive side panels rather than splitting things into two. You have the same boring 14 games, horizontal games on a vertical monitor such as Rolling Thunder. I kind of miss my cabinet already as it was a focal point and something to gossip about if you had people come over. The light up marquee even during the day time, stands out, but it would have been nice if they could have included a button or settings to turn the marquee off during the day time. The main killer for me was the attract mode, no sound on the pac man attract mode and it was not auto scrolling through the games, but when you buy a pac man cabinet, then really you want to show off pac man. If it had sound, then I might not have sent mine back, but in my head I did have the XL version as I honestly hated being able to see over the top of it. I am 5'9 and I was comfortable playing, but if you are above that, then really you are going to be wanting a stool in the end. Sadly, this is still a kids toy, and I will wait for the Atgames 4K models and who knows maybe pick up certain cabinets just for decoration. However, as I say I can see 1up going bankrupt in the future, so really these cabinets are more buyer beware.

I think I can sneak it in the basement without my wife knowing the size difference of my 3/4 version. 😆 what you think of the t2 Bsa retro shooter mod? I'm loving the 19 in. upgrade but I think I am going to go for the pedestal/artwork/TV setup with their 6 button layout and leave my t2 with the cosmetic mods alone.
I did the same thing Chris lol just be careful for that popping noise when you sandwich the sides together it might give it away :) I ordered the kit it’s coming tomorrow and I’m going to do the mod to my T2. Not sure about the screen or new control deck but interested in adding more games. I like the pedestal it will be awesome on a big screen!
The main cab is the same as previous builds you’re just doing the same for the stand half instead of the riser and they slide together. Standing it up is the only challenging thing just need to have room when you tip forward.
Thanks for watching, the only Arcade1up with Gorf is the MK2 head to head cocktail cab. It’s $299 at Target, Best Buy and Amazon right now. Game lineup is good, just a different type of arcade.

Still like the compactof delux. Ypu canstill fit a Dell 20” screen in the delux. XL still look like a meh copy of the real thing. A1Up fired all of their top management cause theyre broke. Get while you can cause its the end of A1UP.
