Great review. I’ve personally experienced slowdown, audio glitches, volume goes down. I didn’t even know about the intro sound effects missing. It is unacceptable for arcade 1up to release this cab in this state. I’m not buying any more products from them.
I'm surprised nobody started a lawsuit yet. This should be the last straw. First NFL blitz with no online now this. I tried to grab a mvc2 cab from GameStop but they called on release day to tell me they don't have any at their warehouse. If I had one and it didn't have online I be filing a lawsuit because that's false advertising and aslong as people don't press the issue they will keep screwing over the customers. This is ridiculous. Bad frame rate buggy volume cheap buttons horrible emulator and no online for 600 bucks? You can buy a retro arcade console and Pandora system with mvc2 on it and still have cash left over compared to this cab. Let me get a hold of one of these cabinets so I can get a lawsuit going because ain't no way people should be happy with this. Say right on the box online then you put it all together to find out otherwise that's crazy.
MOAT, I wanted to first say THANK YOU for your review (review in progress) on this cabinet. I've followed your coverage on Arcade1up's Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and let's just say, my respect for you has grown so much from Las Vegas to now. When you were in Las Vegas talking about the game with Arcade1up, hype can easily take over the moment, so I tempered my excitement. Setting and situation can play a major factor as well, but I felt a genuineness there. And that only grew over time as you kept making content and weren't afraid to voice your concerns and point out issues, even if it wasn't popular to the brand. And this brings me to your review. You explain the pros and cons very well and pull no punches, mad respect. But there is a clear air of disappointment and even a bit of sadness in your messaging. It's subtle, and comes across in your voice and in your mannerisms throughout the video. And since Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a dream cab for me as well, I really felt that. ill try to finish the rest of the video but 5 mins in youve made some interesting observations. many of which were concerns on the evo cab as well which apparently you didint bother to point out such as missing sounds. but this is all interesting coming from an invididual who just a month ago said my video of justin wongs game play was bs? and that Im a troll for posting documented evidence of these occurences. now since its a problem for you, some how it needs to get fixed? ill have more to say about this but commentary and reviews like yours have been one of the problems for customers. Experienced individuals who actually understand emulation and recognize these things from the start and point out flaws have people like you trying to cut down and diminish the importance of reported issues. Yes you on average gamers stream saying the issues i reported was bs and then going on kongs stream condecning the fact there was lag and saying Im a troll for pointing out the issues you now have a problem with. If you watched all the way to the end or listen to my final thoughts I actually said all of that and took accountability for that. I also said that the build that I played in Vegas wasn't like it is in its current condition. Not to mention when you're recording or hype about something, you tend to miss the small details that you will notice yourself in a private setting. The off-the-cuff comments about your video and JWong were again a comparison to what I had personally experienced, the same as this review in progress. That being said, you were right. I acknowledge that and apologize for saying that you weren't... but you're wrong for eating all of the pizza in Shredder's Revenge and I haven't forgotten about that lol. Seriously though, I'm sorry.

Did they tell you anything about the hardware they were using at the time? I feel we got cheated big time and the RU-vid community who went along with this saying it was going to be perfect and don't worry have a lot of explaining to do.

Described it fully I love it for what it is, married with a parent of 2 below 3, not as serious as I was and doing 3-5 matches here and there are what I bought it for but I’ve experienced a few things you covered Got a feeling we will see a “day 1 patch” in November to iron a few things but it’s my favorite fighting game that I no longer need to dump quarters into
It’s also my fav fighting game & games of all time my friend. I grew up playin these games. I started with Xmen children of the atom lol. Where there was really no combos or air combos lol. But I love Marvel Super Heroes Gems & then Xmen vs Sf & then so on & on ya kno? And we get the #1 goat fighting game of all time is MvC2 although it’s hella fun playing MvC1 arcade mode with reg/secret characters to beat Onslaught to read their storylines lol. I love it. Kinda lame MvC2 doesn’t have the storylines when u beat the final boss tho lol

For anyone else still waiting for their Arcade1up September pre-order, I just heard back from them: They said the original plan was to ship them the same time as Best Buy, but there was an “unforeseen delay” and that it has pushed the shipping back “a few weeks.” So if Best Buy people got them last week, that should get us our cabs by Halloween. But, because I don’t really trust them, I’d say it’s probably gonna be mid November, hopefully…
Update: After seeing the cab on sale yet again at Best Buy, with shipping of just 2 days, and with no word still about online play, I decided to cancel my pre order. I should have been one of the first to get this cab. But because of Arcade1ups pure ineptitude, I’ll now likely never have it at all. I’ll keep playing for free, ONLINE, on fightcade. Btw, I used the money and got myself a ps5 instead. Such a better use of the money :)
Idk if I got lucky with mine, but so far I haven't noticed any slow down or glitches (other than the random volume down thing happened to me twice). I'll be streaming gameplay for an hour or two tonight so we'll how it holds up.
My last Arcade1up machine was a Big Blue. They never fixed the audio issues despite doing a firmware update, and I said to myself that was the last straw. They don't seem to care about their product nor do they stand behind it. I'll be buying custom cabs from here on out. Possibly a Megacade!

It's hard to witness the slowdown mid game.. As consumers we deserve so much more respect. Its kinda hard to swallow. Alternatively I could just jump on the fight cade or even set up retroarch even host on parsec and if they ain't willing to give us premium value for our money I'll keep emulating and this is coming from someone who bought Capcom fighting collection n was even 3rd in the world on vampire hunter 2. Last time I checked I was 6th but hey maybe if matchmaking was better. We deserve better..
Totally agree with you about, if you are trying to play this cabinet competitively that there are better ways. Fightcade, Null bear dc, if you happen to have 360 or ps3. Version still. This cab imo is a novelty piece. Not meant for serious die hard mvc2 players. Casuals who may want to learn the game, I would say definitely buy if you want and can afford it. Great vid. You have a new subscriber.
This was my first cab I’ve ever bought, I’ve only had the audio volume issues with it, no heat throttle or over heating. I haven’t noticed the slowdown or Desync. But I completely understand being upset about the quality of the product. Idk how or if arcade 1up will correct this, recall this or even communicate with us about an apology or anything. I feel cheated and I think Arcade 1up owes us something.
This stuff would be unacceptable and getting blasted from reviewers on a $20 re-release for modern consoles…the fact that it’s happening on a $600 arcade and more people aren’t talking about it is insane.
@@MikeOfAllTrades I would agree on most of their releases, but this got a lot of attention and coverage when it was announced. It also may be the biggest influx of first time 1up owners given the popularity of MvC2. A review/update from sites like Kotaku, IGN, or Gamespot should happen imo.
my 2 cents. bought the MVC2 cab. Swapped the joystick and buttons for Sanwa parts. Was a diehard player back in the day, So I’d say I’m above average in skill. My takeaway so far is this. For the current price tags of about $650 after tax then an additional $100 to replace buttons and joysticks, then add $50-70 per stool if you need one to sit and play on. If you got money to burn and you invite people over that you could enjoy this game with, then cool, it’s a fun party toy. But if you play competitively and want to play on-line and think that your combos will be pulled off perfectly. DO NOT waste your money. This is NOT it. Play the HD version on the Xbox 360. It’s over 15 years old, but it’s most likely to still have more players to play against than the Arcade 1up cab when the online play does become available. This is a cool novelty item to have. But the allure faded real quick seeing as there’s too many bugs to justify the high price tag. Can it be fixed? maybe. But get online up and running, and then see how many players there are. I really want this game to be fun, but right now, it’s mehhhh.
Thanks for this mini review man, much appreciated. Those are my thoughts also. I love MvC2. I bought the art book for 200 - if the quality is right I have no problem paying. But buying this cab for 650 with tax, adding the money to replace the buttons and joystick- what am I really getting for 750? A good looking tiny frankenstein version of an arcade? I may as well keep playing on Fightcade with my Fight stick and keep saving for a real arcade machine and run fightcade through it. MOAT thanks a TON for your in depth honest review as well.

This is a dream cab. I have it on PS2, I don’t need this, but I fell in love with my MvC1 cab that I have sold to buy this. Any update on how it plays, or rather, is it in a playable state now. Was thinking abt picking one up (didn’t get one on release cause I saw a good amount of bad press and didn’t have the money to blow on a seemingly defective product at the time) has there been any improvements to the gameplay or any good mods that make it function better
They've done an Input latency patch and it is online now but it's only the desert stage as of now. They're working on another patch currently. If you can find one, that's cool.

I uploaded my unboxing vid last night and modded the sticks and buttons. But I will say this, this will definitely be the last Cabinet ill ever preorder for Arcade1up. I will definitely do more research be for dropping premium money on this. It hurts seeing them dropping the ball on this CAB, it should have been delayed if they knew they were having issues with the emulation. Great Review!

Great video. I enjoy your content. I am big fan of MVC2 and arcade1up. I have over 25 cabs and only had issues with 2 or 3. I do not understand that they will not get ahead of this. They were jumping on many content creators streams hyping us up about these cabs. Why do they have to be silent when the fans need to hear from them the most. The open themselves for you tubers to pick them apart which is justified. I want to to continue to make great cabs and not lose there important fan base. Keep up the good videos.

I can't fathom why the pcbs on any A1UP release don't have any kind of ventilation, even Pandora's Box or any of those Superconsole X have some kind of ventilation.
Hey I found you're channel through this cabinet I'm new to owning a one up arcade cabinet I only wanted this game I would love to see what buttons you would change or any additions you would make for the cabinet to play and look better
Upgrading the buttons and sticks to either Sanwa or IL/HAPP is a must to get the best experience. Making it look better is up to personal preference but you can get third party skins to place on the cab and/or panel.
I don’t get it. Alot of the same issues you are complaining about were present on the demo unit at evo, the arcade version doesn’t have the additional sounds your referring to at the startup.
A lot of these issues weren't present, I even checked with people that were there and their footage to make sure that I wasn't speaking out of turn along with my own footage but thanks for watching the video
Why didn't they listen to Flycast? They were consulted but was it just hubris as perhaps A1UP said, "We don't want to do the work to optimize it?" Just sad.
Thanks for the video, Mike. I'm noticing all the issues you are experiencing as well. It's not unplayable per se but it's FAR from perfect. And... really just not acceptable at the price point. I don't know that these issues can be resolved via firmware because I'm definitely getting an 'underpowered hardware' vibe based on the issues I'm experiencing (freezing, stuttering, volume turning itself down). Now, what I'm most interested in, in what ways was the cab you tested in Vegas superior? I'm really getting the feeling that Arcade1up cheaped out on us. They got Justin Wong to vouch for this thing but I doubt he would approve of the product we received. I'm not trying to be too negative but something is wrong here. I thought people were just being picky but I noticed all the most severe issues today after not turning the cab on for 2 days (busy work week). On my first playthrough, the cab turned itself down and froze up momentarily. That's the first time that's happened for me. The menu music was jacked up but that's been consistent for me since first boot.
Yeah it could be the board, could be coding etc etc but whatever it is, they need to fix it asap. Even streaming from the can last night there were more glaring issues brought to the forefront
That it did. No stutters or hiccups. The ROM itself felt a little slower (even Romneto pointed that out & so did Jebailey) but we were told that this was a build before their current build which they couldn't connect on wifi to get. So of the issues that I experienced and are still being discovered weren't present. I would've flipped tables if the were the case.
@@MikeOfAllTrades Well I've spent all morning on both MVC1 cab and the MVC2 cab. MVC1 cab plays the old games better to be honest, while the new cab has audio issues even on the old games. I just hopped over to my DCHDMI modded Dreamcast with wireless 8bitdo arcade stick modded with Sanwa parts and the experience is vastly superior. I don't feel like purchasing the cab was a mistake but there are definitely better ways I could have spent that $600. Especially considering I have superior ways to play these games.
Ive had this cab on all day since i got it only turning it off at night when i go to bed. and i have had zero heating issues. I have been playing it non stop and have not noticed any slowdown or any sound issues. Only thing i have notice is the volume glitch that lowers it down randomly but rarely. So i dunno, maybe you just got a bad cab? any way, great review. Def a step up in quality for A1U, my last cab from them as a 1st gen MK2 so, this was a massive improvement in quality, ill be picking up the yoga flame next!
Great review Mike, do you think based on all the performance issues you’ve experienced so far that the hardware would be able to support online play for MvC2? Based on the symptoms it sounds like the chipset is underpowered and can’t run the game properly. I’m now getting concerned that online play will not be supported on this cabinet for MvC2.
I think just it might be a coding issue with that particular ROM but it should run online...should. I'm in a holding pattern waiting to see the outcome of the online service

If buttons are causing buzzing via the speakers, it's probably not grounded properly. I used to own 15 candy cabs back in the day, and that's a pretty big red flag.
There’s definitely some audio issues as terms as the music like the pitch does not sound right on some of the ost tracks aswell as the way the characters sound

This is the most important cabinet they've ever done, right now, it's a complete disaster. Shame on JWong and all of the other shills who boosted this thing giving every casual FOMO. Damn shame.
Did a little more testing today about 7 matches with headphones the whole time. took a short pause break for a phone call machine on the whole time. Only audio issues I noticed were on character select screen. Opened up the back afterword and the panel did feel pretty warm. Game ran okay. I’m not good enough yet to get through two whole game’s quickly lol! I did notice something strange moat the audio hiss you mentioned doesn’t appear to be there in the headphones only from the speakers I’m using Alienware tri mode headset
I replaced the buttons and I'm going to replace the sticks. Playing with stock Arcade1Up controls is a handicap. It's crazy, for $600 you'd think the machine would come with Sanwa parts. Hopefully they show us some love soon with an update or something.

@@vegetaking1272 it's better with Sanwa but I still feel like there's lag coming from somewhere. To install them you have to shave the notches off the side of the button housing with an exacto knife. Prying the wires off the original buttons was a bit of a pain. $600 is too expensive. Buy a cheaper cabinet and mod it. With an SD card and some software you can boot anything.
My slow downs were because of the overheating :/ I was seeing 212 degree temps. What makes it worse is it seems the release was scooped up by scalpers so I paid $800 like a fool to play online. Jokes on me, seems 1UP has began its deathspiral. Maybe their next wave will save it, rumored Time Crisis cabinet would be sick.
Yeah those fuckers hella bought the A1U MvC2 up to the point of sold out everywhere except on EBay where they’re charging an arm & a leg for the cab! I seen some goes for 800$-1000$ plus like +150$ extra for shipping smh. Bastards. I just got mine from EBay for the amazing price of 530$ total. Since the dude that I got it from lives in the same state as I do & that’s Utah so we didn’t have to go thru eBay & it was brand new. I love my A1U MvC2 cab lol 💯💯💯 My 1st arcade cab ever. My MvC2 cab has all of the same issues yours has but only 1 speaker 🔊 on the right is currently working on mine. This sucks because this is my favorite game ever and it does not justify the price we paid for it!
Hey MOAT! Just got my cab set up. This is the first one I’ve had with a “power brick” looking thing with a green light on top instead of it being just a regular cord. There is a button on the bottom that says “push”. I can’t find in the manual what pushing it does and I’m wondering if it’s important. Thank you for any help you can provide!
I have the same audio issues with a hissing sound when navigating around the screens/options or when there are pauses in the music in cut scenes. I hope they can fix the audio issues with a patch unless this is a hardware issue with the new board.
All I hear is complaints about this arcade 1 up I never bought it cause of the price and cause marvel vs capcom 2 plays just fine on Dreamcast xbox PS2 if your buying this for that game just your wasting your money you should be going after X-men Vs street fighter and marvel super heroes Vs street fighter that failed on PS1 I got marvel Vs capcom 2 also for the Xbox 360 and PS3 digital you just don’t get the intro is the difference I don’t remember arcade 1 up doing a great job on any arcade 1 ups teenage mutant ninja turtles you press a button while April or shredder is about to say something you won’t hear them the wrong theme sound doesn’t sound as the original not worth the price their asking for
Right on John I’ve got Pandora Box 3D 20s I paid $160 on eBay for last year I bought it for the purpose of MVC2 and was satisfied with it being the Dreamcast version as a bonus 4500 additional games including the 7 games that come on the arcade 1up. For $600 it really doesn’t seem worth while in buying it that I assure you.
Nah man this sounds like the unit is defective. If the game starts to slow down, then the enjoyment of the game is not as advertised because it’s supposed to play as the way the game was intended to play meaning no slow downs or volume changing. This isn’t acceptable. I bought two from Best Buy and still haven’t received it and they should play at least like how the Dreamcast would. This is disappointing. I hope a future update can help, but I doubt it if the hardware is the issue.

Good honest review. This was the one cab I've long been waiting for as it has all of my favorite vs series games plus msh and cota. This was clearly a rush job for whatever reason combined complete lack of basic QA. I've totally lost all faith in this company and will never be a customer again.
Quit being dramatic, this was a miracle they even got this game running on their hardware. This is not an easy game to emulate. Be grateful it even exists. Most of this shit can be fixed with patches. quit crying.
I'm pretty familiar with the flycast emulator and I can tell you they didn't configure it correctly. If you don't configure it correctly in retroarch it does that same video audio stuttering.
I'm wondering if this is android based? Depending on the version of Android it may be the reason why it slows down on certain screens? 🤷🏾♂hopefully a future patch will fix that.

Yes unfortunately more RU-vid videos are coming out with valid complaints against the Capcom title Marvel VS Capcom 2 arcade 1-Up machines , , , too bee frank ,the $600 dollar price should be the first warning sign , considering they released capcom Street Fighter 2 championship edition as a 1-Up priced under $300 dollars , cabinet and all components are brand new , nothing Nothing is even slightly Vintage , , basically the same machines so what justifies the mega price jump ???
@@MikeOfAllTrades from what I've viewed in some videos people have had to mod their fighting game 1-Ups with actual Arcade joy-knobs because the 1-Ups build quality is SHABBY at best , , , but worst part is unjustified price hike , , they weren't exactly cheap $$$ to begin with, , , ,I'll probably get the "Mortal Kombat-2"" 1-Up later on , but I guarantee I'll get one used $$ ⚔️👍👍🎃

It may seem like a small thing but I’m heartbroken the sound effect that’s supposed to happen after you hear “marvel vs capcom 2 new age of heroes” in the attract mode really bothers me. I love attract modes and that’s my favorite part.

I thought this cab was either gonna be one of the best cabs they've put out or be full of problems and have a lukewarm landing. Unfortunately it appears to be the latter. For the Street Fighter community I don't think there's a more hyped cab than this and I'm really disappointed in A1up for dropping the ball so much on this. I think for me the biggest wtf thing in this video is the obvious hardware shortcomings, this game shouldn't be overheating the PCB, it shouldn't have the hardware issues to this level and this is brand new. I wouldn't be surprised if within the next 60-90 days, people start having their PCBs die. While this cab may have had the potential to be the A1UP's best selling, most popular cab I believe it now has the potential to be the cab that causes the most irreparable harm to the company. Shameful.
I feel ya... I'm gonna be building a ddr, time crisis 2 (2players 2crts 2guncons linked + pedals) and a mvc2 cab soon. Those are essential arcade games for me. I'm not buying this hot garbage... ever
Dude crazy story I was having issues with the Best Buy preorder so I ordered one at GameStop but found our minutes later they don’t do online returns over 500 bucks. It would t let me cancel it so I called and had customer service cancel the order kept my Best Buy which showed up Monday and I have it all modded and stuff already …today I get another from GameStop I check my order it’s been cancelled refunded everything just shows up a free cab not sure what I should do with it now but that’s crazy
I ordered from GameStop then they called to tell me they no longer have any after I preorder one from GameStop. How do u preorder for them to tell you on launch day that they don't have any
arcade 1 up 100% dropped the ball with this release!!! Not only with the preorders not being fulfilled , also with the final product being mediocre . Feels more like a cash grab just to make their Q4 quota . straight shame !!!
Yea the cabinet is cool looking and all but I think I will pass on this.... my Demul Naomi emulator with the arcade version works perfectly with no lag and amazing audio so yea this looks like a rushed cash grab.
Oh God I hate that song loop, there are RU-vidrs that use that and I can't watch them anymore because of that loop. The over heating and unsyniced audio is a result of cheap pcb boards. That board is a fire hazard

My marvel vs capcom 2 voice cut of at the arcade 1 up logo u don’t hear hulk or zangief thrn shut the machine down again this time u will Hear it then there another problem marvel vs capcom 2 hit the start button and just got a blank screen no picture. So I had to go factory resetting now it working as volume thing is a pain
@@MikeOfAllTrades it all good mate marvel vs capcom 2 working now not skipping a beat it went black the whole screen and went back intro if u run in that problem mate click factory setting it never skipped a beat hopefully that could help out for u if u run into it have to put thing back online everything works now and zangief and hulk i still hear them now near 1 up logo
They are completely incapable or unwilling to deliver finished, perfect products. It's just funny now. It's clear they do not care. Pump out the next cab. I do love my Blitz cab but still have issues. If they were a properly ran big boy pants wearing company they'd have had the bs ironed out 2 years ago. So bottom line don't expect perfection or a facsimile of perfection. Know its 70% good and buy only ips you love. Have fun with them when possible. No more no less.
All John D does is lie anyway. They should already be on top of this with the community. This could end up killing off their business by ignoring all these issues on a $600 cab. I'm glad I waited on this one, because I didn't want to be a guinea pig.

Mines still in the box...We need to make a petition for a partial refund ..no coupon or code for $$$ 4 next cabinet or newest....2 more weeks for me if no online it's going back ...
I got $70 back from Bestbuy customer support for low quality control mine arrived with scratches everywhere and the shipping box was pristine condition.the monitor had smudges between the plexiglass and scratches.
