I was afraid they'd ruin Silco's character by have him go "muhahaha it was all an act I never loved you Jinx" in the final episode. It's refreshing that he really did love Jinx and was willing to put everything on the line for her, even comforting her as he died. While I'm sad he's gone, I think this was a fitting ending for his character and will miss him greatly. Silco is the best animated villain to come along in quite a long time.

When her eyes go blank after crying for Silco, I think it's because Silco became another one of the voices in her head. You could theorize that her trauma now also comes from being Jinx and not just when she was Powder.

You know what I really love about this scene, but also really saddens me. Is that it shows how Vi doesn’t understand how Powder is hurt. It really captures how people react to mentally illness in the real world. To me it’s clear that Vi truly loves Powder, and there isn’t anything that Jinx can do that would change that. Vi wants so desperately to have her sister back and thinks she can do it by reminding her about their family, Vi truly thinks she is helping her, but doesn’t understand that those memories are her pain and her trauma. She doesn’t understand that she’s hurting her. Vi doesn’t understand that Powder is hurt in a away that she just can’t help her. She thinks she can still chase the monsters away, but doesn’t understand that those memories she clings too are Powders monsters, her guilt, her pain, her trauma. Vi doesn’t understand that to Jinx, Powder is the monster. That’s why I think Powder, said you’ve changed too. No matter how much Jinx wants Vi back, she thinks she can never have her. Because she knows that Vi doesn’t understand her anymore. She knows that Vi can’t chase her monsters away anymore. And blowing up the capital was her final attempt to sever that connection with her sister, because she feels that if her sister can’t save her then she can save Vi. By forcing Vi to give up on her.
@HazelAmarie
@HazelAmarie 2 года назад
Vi was locked away for years… Mylo, Clogger and Vander were their family…she wants her sister to remember that. She has no idea that Powder suffers with the voices in her head because she’s been gone all those years holding onto hope. They’ve both experienced trauma not just Jinx…Vi is just mentally stronger.
@michaelroque2662
@michaelroque2662 2 года назад
@@HazelAmarie I don’t think that Vi is mentally stronger then Powder, yes Vi has trauma too, the fight scene between her and Siveca really shows that. The quick cuts of her drinking and pacing around mirror Jinx’s mental state throughout the act 2 and 3, it show that Vi is spiraling out of control too. Just compare Vi seeing Vander To Powder see Vander. Vi’s is warm and lifting her up and Powders is monsteras and bring her down. The difference between the too sisters is that Vi thinks that it’s her fault and Jinx knows that it isn’t. Yes both sisters have lost and had trauma. But Powder lit the bomb. They have both lost their family, but losing someone doesn’t compare to knowing in your heart that caused their deaths. Vi suffered from her choices but Powder Broke from hers.
@michaelroque2662
@michaelroque2662 2 года назад
@@HazelAmarie I also want to clarify that I’m not trying to dismiss Vi’s trauma, on the contrary I feel for her just as munch as Powder. I don’t want to presume your journey or want you been through, it not my place to do so. But I know Vi’s trauma and I know Powder’s, I’ve felt them both. The biggest struggle for both of them is that Vi open up to Powder, I mean really open up. And Powder’s is learning to forgive herself. I’m hoping that they reconcile in the future, as soon as possible, but it won’t be easy for them, because Vi has a support system, Caitlin, Ekko, other friends from Zaun, but Powder doesn’t. She only has Vi, which is hard for her because of all the complicated feels she has for her. It not easy when the only person you can support on is the same person your trauma is connected too. That’s one small part of what Powder is going through. That’s why I’m I can’t wait for Lux and Yasuo and the cat and robot (who’s names I don’t know) I don’t know if those Wild Rift commercials are canon, but I like to think that they are and that at some point Powder will find her Support group. Sorry for talking your ear off,

@@michaelroque2662 I totally understand and agree with you to an extent. I should say that I feel Vi channels her trauma in a less destructive way… she still fights yes but she doesn’t kill innocent people just because she can. Something I noticed was that Vi and Powder/Jinx sees their friends and family differently. When Vi sees vander during her fight, it is as a source of strength pushing her even further, like and anime flashback. For Jinx it is trauma, faces in the dark, her inner demons personified and in her mind they are out for her, to make her pay for what she did. So calling them, trying to make Jinx go back to being powder is not really the best idea.
@LordangeloxD

Maybe it is because she accidentally killed them, which is different from your anime bullshit (because usually in anime family members are killed by the villain, and that’s what makes the protagonist goal in life to kill the villain and remembering the family makes them stronger)

@@HazelAmarie I think so too. I'm just saying that is how Vi feels. Of course is not her fault. But imagine the situation where you curse your baby sister after a traumatic event and is gone for years. Then when you return you see her acting in self-destructive manner and calling herself the "slur" you cursed her with. Vi feels like that even though she shouldn't. Arcane made incredible that we don't have anyone to completely lay the blame for what happened to Powder. Vi abandon her, Silco manipulated her and Jinx killed her.
2 года назад
Vi doesn't understand that "Powder, Milo, Claggo, Vander", all of those names in the past is what hurts Jinx. Jinx has been trying to tell Vi that she has changed and wanted her sister to accept and love her as who she is now, NOT who she was. Silco is the only one who truly gets that. He doesn't want Jinx to be tormented by the past, the childhood trauma or anything that related to Vi's action any more. He wants Jinx to be herself because Jinx is "perfect" in her own way. Vi will never get that, at least not until much later.

To an extent I can see where Vi is coming from. Due to Silo being an opposition of her father figure an the guy have killed men women and children with no remorse prior. Being in incarcerated or confined can make your confined in your own thoughts and concerns for a long time. Confinement is a good place to get stagnant and not prepare for what you'll see once your out. I do find Silo is a caring father-figure but not a good father-figure. In Powder's period of distress he was handed all of what Jinx needs to make an arsenal for mass destruction. Basically giving her destructive habits for which Silo have to cover the reprussions for. It's kind of similar to starting someone on medication that turns addictive that they feel a need for more supplements for which some of their friends and/or family would supply their addiction. Parents would similar to Silo would enable destructive habits sometimes even to the point their kid(s) cause harm or do worse to them or others either until they die or they not longer can bail them out.

What I love about this is that Silco was the only one who gets it because ultimately, he was one of the biggest factors Jinx became who she is. I do feel he did love her, but to an extent, he sort of molded Jinx to what he wanted her to be (maybe not completely as alluded by Jinx when she said that she became Jinx by herself, but I assume she got a lot of guidance from Silco). It’s the killing other people and stuff that Vi wants her to stop doing. It makes up a large part of Jinx but honestly what kind of sister would Vi be to just let her do that again and again?? When Vi says "it's okay." after Silco dies really cemented Jinx in her point of no return. That little innocent "it's okay" was truly devastating, because although Vi ment it with good intentions as a way to resasure her sister. Jinx could tell it was insincere. Because she knew Vi couldn't care less about Silco, so of course it would be okay to Vi. But for Jinx, she had just killed the one person who loved her the way Vi did when she was Powder, but as Jinx. And also she in that same moment she came to the conclusion that Vi would never be able to love her that same way she used to because all Vi wanted was Powder and all Jinx has to offer is Jinx. To be Powder again she'd have to sacrifice being Jinx all together and that's a pretty big ask.

@kevinhoublon8630 2 года назад
I understand your point but I think Vi was sincere. She saw in Silco's last moments with Jinx, that he really cared for her, and that they had a true father/daughter relationship. When Vander, her second father, died due to Powder's mistakes, Vi was so outraged she said horrible things to Powder and turn her back on her on the moment, which, as a result, turned Powder into Jinx (but Powder was still inside like we could see it when they first meet years after). Here, The history repeats itself :Jinx killed Silco, her third father who, like Vander, truly cared about her. This time, Violet did what she should have done for Powder, she tried to console her and told her everything will be okay. I think she wanted to be there for her and do things right this time. However, after suffering rejection from Vi in the past, after giving her the chance to chose between her or Caitlin (even if it was twisted) and see she still couldn't chose her, she fully embrace the Jinx side because although Silco was a ruthless crime lord, he fully accepted Powder over everything else, and would have given up on his ambitions, waged war and massacred the entire Government of Piltover while Vi couldn't kill a single person. When Vi and Jinx first met, Jinx told her, "Powder fell down on a wall". Latter, Jinx invited her to kill Caitlin so she can have Powder back. Jinx couldn't become Powder without Vi's help. I think by her words, Vi wanted to help Powder to get out of the well.

One thing I thought of is how much Silco must genuinely HATE Vi with a passion. He took in this super traumatized little girl, whose first interaction with him is to jump at him for comfort because her sister just abandoned her. He sympathizes due to his own relationship with Vander, and eventually grows to love her as his daughter. It is made clear in the show that she's been dealing with her trauma and has been a "problem" for a long time, jinxing their jobs a lot according to Sevika. So Silco has been dealing with her mental health issues for a long time, and knows a big part of it is because of her sister. He has been (admittedly terribly) parenting her to let go of who she was and embrace her anger like he did to grow stronger. He loves her deeply as his own child, and has been ignoring the issues she causes because he values her more than his goal. Then Vi shows up and Jinx gets super confused about her loyalties and who to trust. Silco is probably really afraid of losing her, and just wants Vi gone. And then Jinx almost dies on the bridge. And most importantly, when Silco arrives, Vi is nowhere to be seen, having gone with Caitlyn. His daughter is practically dead, and her sister seemingly has left her to die, again. The next time Silco sees Jinx she knocks him out thinking he will give her up for Zaun, she talks about how he was going to stab her in the back. And he hears Vi tell her that they can leave together and "you will never have to see him again Powder". And Silco's response is "HER NAME IS JINX". He genuinely must absolutely hate Vi, and of course just wants her dead for all that she's done. He tries to convince Jinx that she doesn't have to worry about him betraying her, because she is his daughter and he would never do it. And when Caitlyn gets the gun he is again just super scared she will get hurt. Finally, Vi proceeds to give Jinx a PTSD episode telling her to picture people he KNOWS cause torment her constantly and this is when he just LOSES IT, like manic animal kind of fury towards this chick. And it honestly makes complete sense.

He's heavily manipulative to Jinx anyway. He doesn't just talks about Vi, he talks about Vander too. Who didn't ever betray Jinx from her POV at any time yet he says that Vander betrayed them. Vi from her POV can be seen as someone that betrayed her, but not Vander. Of course he was affraid when Caitlyn is threatening her. If Jinx lost here, he'd lose everything, not just her. @andrelin4345 2 года назад
@@adrien4269 I think Silco was referring to Vander betraying him by trying to drown him in acid, and betraying the undercity by going "soft." Nobody alone betrays both of them, but both of them have been betrayed. And if he really valued his initial goal more than Jinx, he'd actually have a lot to gain by letting Caitlyn kill Jinx. That would have fulfilled his end of the deal for the nation of Zaun. When Jinx knocks Caitlyn out, he doesn't manipulate her, he straight up just tells her to finish the job, which makes sense from his point of view. Caitlyn is from Piltover, which he hates, and she obviously will take them both down if she gets the chance again. It would be a liability for Jinx to let her live. Plus, she just threatened/shot at the person he considers his daughter. Point is, while Silco obviously screwed up raising Jinx and isn't a shining paragon of virtue, he truly cares for Jinx and has done everything he thinks will help her, with no secrets or lies between them. (He trusted that Marcus had killed Vi, and he had never intended to sell Jinx out to gain independence for the undercity.) That makes him a far more complex and enjoyable character than the usual "stone cold mob boss" archetype.

I think the main reason Silco's parenting is not excellent .it's because he carries his own trauma . Vander turning his back on him and nearly killing him + near death experience and Undercity not being free from Piltover and having devastating losses has took a toll on him . His issues was never really resolved . He just somehow put himself together . He possibly expected Jinx to do the same . And from what i have seen , Silco didn't properly manipulated her . @@adrien4269 "He's heavily manipulative to Jinx anyway." You can say this same thing about Vander he also manipulated both of them and thought them how to do 'jobs' that were dangerous and illegal it's obvious that Vander would use VI and Jinx this same way as Silco if they grew up. "Who didn't ever betray Jinx from her POV at any time yet he says that Vander betrayed them." Vander betrayed a vison that both Jinxed and Silco shared of free undercity, Vander was the one that betrayed everyone in undercity by having a deal with enforcers he was their guard dog that would never bite. Both Jinxed and Vi didn't know about it so yea he betrayed them. "Of course he was afraid when Caitlyn is threatening her. If Jinx lost here, he'd lose everything, not just her." If Jinx lost here then Caitlyn would arrest them and that would be in accord to a peace treaty and Silco's dream would happen, if Silco didn't care about Jinx he would let her go through PTSD so that they can arrest her in a weakened state. "When the tables turned, he tries to manipulate her again to finish the job." Winning here would mean loss of his dream that he killed multiple people to bring. At the end she Jinxed his dream. "While Vi this whole time was on both sides Cait and Jinx sides, she was genuine." She was not on Jinx's side she tried to safe herself from pain that she caused to Powder in redeeming Jinx she wanted to redeem herself, she didn't want to accept that Powder that she knew is gone which was her biggest mistake I mean she gave her PTSD because she didn't understand how thinking about the family Powder accidently killed is what is causing her harm and transformation in the first place. There were multiple times when Jinx went off and did her own thing, potentially causing problems and being a hindrance as Savika tells him multiple times, but every time, Silco defended her. The only time he got angry was when Jinx went and killed enforcers on top side, but he let it go when Jinx showed him the complete hex crystal and even when Jayce asked for Jinx in exchange for allowing Zaun independence, he took responsibility for Jinx saying he ordered her to do it so it was his fault, when it was actually her going off doing her own thing.

It was always framed as a father-daughter relationship but they had their intimate moments which creeped people out because intimacy is often associated with a sexual or romantic relationship. But the intimate moments between the two weren't inherently sexual/romantic, makes sense in context, and is largely a result of Jinx's abandonment issues making her clingy and acting like a child. That being said I'm sure the "too close for comfort" moments were intentional to highlight that although they do care for each other as father and daughter, it's not a healthy, functional relationship.

I think Silcos reason to try and shoot vi was him trying to stop her from hurting Jinx. Jinx suffers PTSD from hearing powder and her friends names which is clear whenever the names are said and the graphics of monsters start appearing. It never happens when she's called jinx. When Vi is calling her powder and naming off all of the people she inadvertently killed you can see it is doing nothing but harming her making the monsters grow in her head basically feeding her insanity. Vi talks about the symbolism of her chasing away the monsters in a previous episode but this time she's responsible for making them grow whenever she calls out the names and isn't there to chase them away. Silco understood this which makes me think out of the both of them Silco was really the one maintaining what sanity she had left. He specifically wanted powder to be gone because that name did nothing but bring her pain.

She had said that Vander tried to drown Silco after adopting the kids when the visuals show them looking 20 years younger (and it wouldn't make sense anyway, since Vi and Jinx had never heard of Silco before). She is only one person out of a team of writers, who collaborated with hundreds of other people, including animators who often added their own spin to the series that the writers didn't come up with. Using Twitter as your encyclopedia on what goes on in the show, instead of the show itself is an incredibly immature way to engage with media. Word of God is not the definitive take on the series. Use your own brain to interpret what's happening and what the characters are thinking based on the actual text, not tweets. Thinking Jinx was trying to save Vi is a fine interpretation. The symbolism of how Silco finally understood what Vander had been experiencing when he gave himself up; he had everything he wanted on the table. The Nation of Zaun, reign over topside, control of majority trade, and most of all…. Power. But in order to have it, he had to trade in one thing; Jinx. The source of a majority of his problems that had been preventing true control; and even then, he couldn’t do it. All in all, the character arc of Silco, from a cold, ruthless man with a momentous dream, to a father that would give up his dreams to keep his daughter safe. It's the mental conflict for me, Jinx loves Silco, but Powder loves Vi, but as soon as Silco tries to kill Vi, the pan balance tipped, that wasn't supposed to happen. When one threatens the other, the need to protect the defenseless one sparks, causing Powder to kill Silco. Perhaps if Silco didn't reach for the gun, but instead kept yelling with Vi, the conflict between Powder and Jinx would continue. Though, it would be likely that Jinx would win, killing Caitlyn in the process. Or, what if Vi had the gun instead, would Jinx kill Vi? That's a rather tricky one. Well, no matter which path she travels, regret will follow all of them. Losing Silco, or Vi, or fully becoming the jinx Vi saw her as in their childhood if she killed Caitlyn.

Vi was in prison for six years, she had just met her again after a long time and the FireLight attacked. Vi even is surprised when she sees Ekko in their reunion scene and she outright says that she remembers how he wouldn't even be able to stand up to her in the scene, in a proud manner. Because she was also having difficulties on wrapping her head around the passing of time and the fact that Ekko wasn't the "Little Man" she had known anymore. To her it was just knowing what was going on after she was kept far away from everyone she loved and cared for for six years, just like someone who suffered amnesia or stood out of the loop for a long after something happened to them. Vi didn't had any visitors in prison to tell her what was happening outside Stillwaters, apart from Caitlyn just before she gets freed, she's still learning how things are, how could she possibly know that? And Vi didn't WILLINGLY abandoned Powder to Silco, she was captured and forcibly dragged away after being knocked out by drugs on a tissue. How can Vi could know about what twisted relationship Powder could have with Silco while she was literally buried in Stillwaters (her arrest wasn't even in the records nor her allegations for being there, Caitlyn clearly states that when she goes to speak with Vi) especially if the two sisters never talked about it and didn't even had a moment to catch up? The only things Vi knew about the relationship between her long lost sister and Silco are Ekko's words, also Jinx never, EVER told anything to Vi about that. Here Vi is trying to comfort Jinx as much as she can, for as far as she knows about how much Silco meant for Jinx and you can't pretend Vi accepting what her little sister become in so few days since being released from prison. Or at gunpoint, just like in the scene where Jinx asks Vi to kill Caitlyn if she wants Powder back. It takes time for that, and both of them didn't have none to sit down and try to find a common ground from where rebuild their relationship. It wouldn't have been like in the past, but I am sure that Vi would've done the effort to understand everything even for just to reconnect with the sister she never stopped to care and search even while she was in prison if given time.

While I love all the theories of when jinxes face goes blank in 2:59 it’s Silco joining the voices in her head I had a different/second half part to the theory. Putting mental health on the table you can see the exact moments almost frame by frame how her sorrow vanishes because she’s dissociating. Her eyebrows soften, her lip drops, her entire face just relaxes and her eyes are just a void because she isn’t there. Her emotions, reactions, trauma, triggers, her entire subconscious has taken over (which had already been the case from the start so this is it being a breaking point intensity) and she’s no longer here, hiding somewhere safe in her brain while this part of her she’s created through all her pain to front instead, because this version of her is ruthless, murderous, and it’s all to protect “powder” but this new side of jinx that Vi views as powder is just the humane side to jinx many don’t believe exist.

@Bulls910
@Bulls910 2 года назад
All of these characters are simultaneously multiple things at once, and all the characters contribute to the tragedy at the end while never being ENTIRELY responsible. That’s what makes the story amazing. Silco loved Jinx but he was also toxic, incredibly possessive, a liar, tried to kill Jinx’s family multiple times, and pushed Jinx to continue making Hextech even as it traumatized her. He was a good father who loved her as murdering maniac, but he was a terrible father who could ONLY love her as a murdering maniac. He both protected and enabled the worst in Jinx/Powder. Vi was a good, very protective sister. But she also got Jinx in the whole mess by taking her on these heists that Vander warned her about, convinced Powder to hide the Hextech gemstones from Vander, punched her in frustration, and then unfortunately abandoned Powder in her greatest time of need, which of course Marcus really made worse. (Although you could even argue Marcus was just doing it to protect Vi from getting murdered by Silco. On the other hand, Marcus could’ve also just gone after Silco himself, but this is what makes Marcus a flawed character). Ultimately Vi also helped create the monster too. Not out of entirely bad intentions, but, just like Silco, out of flawed parenting. And also just like Silco, she could only love a PART of Jinx/Powder. She had the SAME parenting flaw as Silco, and this conflict broke something in Jinx. Finally, Jinx/Powder is responsible for her own creation too. They allude to her unstable mental state as a child when she’s freaking out after she’s told she can’t go help save Vander. She jumps to conclusions about everyone. She’s shown mercy by Ekko but still (possibly suicidally?) tries to blow everyone up. This physical trauma leads to her chemtech treatment that further maddens her. She’s very much a victim throughout her story, especially when you consider how much she’s gone through at a young age, but she also isn’t absolved of responsibility. What makes this story great, a tragedy, and a GREAT tragedy, is not that some sad stuff happened that we can all finally understand by debating it until we arrive at its one true interpretation. It’s a great tragedy because some sad stuff happened that was both inevitable and INTENTIONALLY endlessly debatable. Everyone in this comment thread is 100% RIGHT in their character interpretations and 100% WRONG in presenting their interpretations as authoritative. Good stories are ambiguous. Life is ambiguous. Yeesh.

@I - Rout Did still enable her bad actions, though. Partially because he isn't exactly morally good either but the problem with Silco is that he's the kind of father that lets their child do basically whatever they want. He tells her she's perfect, which is kind of good because Jinx wants to hear that...but he also lets her spiral out of control and hurt other people. He cares when she hurts herself in her mental state but he doesn't care when her actions hurt others.

Okay, I rewatched Arcane enough times to be able to write my little essay about Jinx and Silco's relationship. I was watching videos about Arcane after I completed the series and in the comments there were so many people thinking that Silco just used Jinx and even in his death he still tried to manipulate her. While I can understand where they're coming from, I believe that they didn't took his character development into consideration. He started off as a general EVIL, doing everything he can to achieve his goals, no matter the cost. Then he met this little girl who accidentaly killed her family and her sister abandoned her (in Powder's POV). He felt a connection to her, shared her feeling of betrayal and decided to take her in. Maybe it really was for to use her as an asset, we don't know for sure. But he took her in. Then we skip a few years and while we still saw the same Silco, he's completely different with Jinx. The first scene they shared he asked her point of view on the cargo incident instead of punishing her outright. Sevika made it clear that she was a liability, that she caused more problems than she solved, but Silco defended her. If he really was using her, why defend her when she clearly just destroyed a part of his crime net? He was patient with her, never raising his voice to reprimand her, instead he kept his cool and even asked her to take some time off to organise her thoughts, since he understood why she had snapped in the first place. When she went off to do her own thing and killed those enforcers, he clearly was angry, but I never had the feeling that he would hit her, no matter how enraged he would get. We saw later on that when Vi managed to escape that he killed his subordinates without a second thought, he was screaming with rage, but with Jinx he never even made a move towards her (notice how he turned off her music and took her pen away when she was ignoring him instead of touching her shoulder or her head to keep her attention on him. He clearly was careful with her, even when he was angry.) Then she had problems with the Gemstone. She went to him and told him what was troubling her and Silco took his time to take her to the waters where he almost drowned to explain his opinion on the matter, instead of just telling her in his office. He showed that whatever Jinx had problems with mattered to him and he didn't just shrugged them off as so many parents do. Yes, he clearly projected his own feelings onto her, but I don't think he did it just to destabilize her further. He felt that this method he'd gone through worked on him, so he believed that it would help her too. But as it's said, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Then he got the intel that Vi is back. I don't know why people think that he lied to her that Vi was dead when it was clear that he also believed that to be true. And then he went to Marcus to tell him that he knows he lied to him and that he won't tolerate it the next time. Yes, he then kept this from Jinx and tried to kill Vi before she could meet with her sister, but I think this was a response coming from fear. Don't forget that he also had experience with betrayal and probably had abandonment issues like Jinx. I think it wasn't that he could lose a valuable asset (and she wasn't even that helpful since she usually screwed up), but that he could lose his daughter. He saw Vi as a threat which could take Jinx away from him (probably the only person who could take her away from him) and he lashed out without thinking, trying to deal with the problem as soon as he could. When Jinx reappeared and was obviously pissed, he didn't try to fight her off. He tried to explain his POV to her and of course he didn't know that Vi had no idea about the Gemstone, but at that point he, once again, was responding from fear and projected his issues onto Jinx and Vi's relationship. Again, to keep his daughter by his side and not to be left alone all over again. Up until this point, I can understand why people think he was manipulating her. Hell, even I had doubts. But the bridge scene showed to me that he really cared. Jinx wasn't conscious, so she couldn't see his worry and only his gorillas were there, but he still hugged her close to him and appeared completely vulnerable. What kind of mob boss does that in front of his employees? There was nothing for him to gain at that moment, yet he still showed his worry and fear for Jinx's life. Then he rushed to Singed, silently begging him to save her and I really loved the question "Are you prepared to lose her?" and Silco's response to that. It completely caught him off-guard and the look on his face made it evident that no, he wasn't ready to lose her. I think until that moment, even he himself didn't realise how much Jinx really means to him. (And Singed had to sedate him, because he knew no father could see his child in pain and even he thought that Silco 100% would've tried to stop the procedure.) Then, of course, the scene with Jayce. He got offered everything he ever wanted, everything he fought, the people he killed, it would've all been worth it - but he had to give up Jinx for it. He literally faced the dilemma we, the viewers wanted him to face: Zaun or Jinx? Which one is more important to him? I believe that the broken and defeated look he gave when Jayce left wasn't like "Oh fuck, what am I going to do?", it was more like "Oh fuck, I'm really going to cause a war." He wasn't struggling with the decision: by the time Jayce left him, he already made his decision, he was just coping with what it will cause. (Also, the moment Jayce asked for Jinx, Silco immediately threw himself under the bus for her, just like Vander did for his kids.) That monologue by Vander's statue was also about him coping, not about his struggle to make the decision. Of course, Jinx had no idea, so she also lashed out to protect herself from another betrayal. She wanted to hurt Silco before he could hurt her. And finally, the tea party. Many thinks he tried to save his life, so he told Jinx that he would never give her up, but we already saw him taking responsibility for her actions in front of Jayce, ready to go to Stillwater for her, so I believe he was telling the truth. And also, him trying to shoot Vi. I don't think it was because of his fear that with bringing up Mylo, Clagger and Vander, Jinx would side with Vi, but because he probably knew that reminding her to them wasn't reassuring, but traumatising. We saw Jinx telling him that she keeps seeing them that day and it was clear that it wasn't a happy vision, like Vi's with Vander. I think his struggle there was about making Vi shut up because he could see that she was hurting Jinx (not her intention, clearly, but she just didn't know, again proving that she didn't know her sister that well anymore) and he wanted this to stop. Like any father, he wanted to protect his daughter and even in death, he tried to soothe her, so in her mind he wouldn't become another Mylo or Claggor. And the line, "You're perfect." Before, he declared that Powder was weak and Jinx was perfect, further fueling the manipulative trope. But here, he said "You're perfect." I think that in his final moments, he wanted to reassure her that no matter who she chooses to become, what she does in the future, she would always be perfect for him. He made the mistake many parents do, thinking that their child is perfect and can do no wrong, but I think here he just wanted Jinx to know that he loves her unconditionally, giving her the type of trust and belief no one, not even Vi had given her before ("You're not ready", when they left her behind to save Vander and it triggered a mental breakdown for her.) Silco wasn't a perfect father, that I agree with. But he truly loved Jinx as his own and did his best to guide her and he made mistakes in the parenting, but every parent makes mistakes (his caused people to die). I think I could summarise this little essay with this: he's the type of villain who doesn't care about anything or anyone beside his goal in life, but try to touch his daughter and he will burn down the world, even destroy the very thing he was fighting for before. Because in the end, she's the one who matters the most.

Nah he just didn't want Vi taking her away. He never tried to understand her mental issues. When she told him she was seeing things that weren't there he just told her to finish the weapon. That doesn't seem like a person who really cares for her mental health. Idk why people try to make Silco out to be some hero. He manipulated and gaslit her all her life. Plus it was stupid of him to think jinx would just stand by and let him kill her sister. If anything seeing her father figure kill her sister would cause more trauma, but people don't want to talk about that. Stop romanticizing Silco he's a bad dude.

Silco's final lines really show just how much he genuinely loves and understands Jinx and how he wants to reassure her so he can pass away without worry. _"I never would have given you to them, not for anything."_ He understood that Jinx felt betrayed and confused and wanted to correct her misunderstanding and reassure her of just how much she meant to him. He would've given up his entire dream and everything he built for her sake, and that nothing he ever said to her was a lie. _"Don't cry."_ He understood that Jinx would've blamed herself once more and that no one would be able to comfort and console her, he didn't want Jinx to burden herself with his death because he understood her confusion and impulsive actions and that it was an accident. He knew she didn't mean it and he wanted her to know he still forgives her. _"You're perfect."_ Finally, he wants Jinx to know that regardless of what happens after, he will always accept and love her regardless. That no matter what she feels, what she does, and what she burns, she will always be Jinx, and that she never needed her to be anything more or less than herself.

Something I really appreciate in this show is how well it portraits emotions. I watched the scenes with Jinx and Vi so many times now and realized things that went over my head the first time I watched it. Like I first thought that Vi abandoned Powder because that's how Powder interpreted it since she's so scared of being left behind for being a jinx. But Vi actually just wanted a break to calm down and collect her thoughts, since she was in a upset state where she couldn't control herself and her emotions properly and therefore lashed out on Powder. And when Vi tried to reach out to Powder thinking that the thoughts of their family where pleasant memories for both but for Powder those memories where her demons, her guilt, her trauma. She didn't meant to hurt her sister, only to help but she didn't understand Powder's feelings, which I didn't understood the first time either. Hollywood usually makes us believe that emotions are visible, anything you can see on the screen is what's actually going on in their heads but that's so far from the reality. Everybody interprets things differently, have different feelings about things and sometimes actions comes from a different place than what it looks like it does. And I just feel like this show really showed that, especially with the sisters

I feel like other people are supporting Vi, as well as hating on Jinx & Silco, but I have my own take on it. Vi & Jinx/Powder: It's pretty obvious throughout the series that Powder was always a bit unstable. She has a good mind and good intentions but she's quite clusmy so her inventions almost never work. Also seeing Mylo badmouthing her and taking things wrongly like leaving at the wrong time when Vi 'agrees' with Milo before she tells him off shows that although she has a good mind, she doesn't really try to see the full picture when it comes to emotions. Vi was always telling Powder 'You're ready' and stuff like 'You can do it, Powder' but that one time, she didn't. Again, going back to how Powder was unstable, and the fact that kids are generally scared of being alone (even teenagers like I am), and the fact that she's unstable as a sort of amplifier, it's obvious why she broke down. When you're in a shaken up state, you often assume the worst thoughts. Powder probably thought 'Vi abandoned me! They think I'm weak' especially considering that Mylo was badmouthing her when he was alone with Vi, and even when he was with her. When Powder wants to prove herself to her family, she ends up ruining it all. This time, the bomb actually works. Mylo and Claggor suffer instant but horrible deaths, and Vander has to sacrifice his life for Vi. Now, Powder can't see any of this going on, so she thinks that it worked, she proved herself and her family is going to be proud of her and actually see her as a hero, instead of a 'Jinx'. So when she comes to Vi saying how it worked, and she's proud of it. She's shocked to see that it KILLED her family instead of HELPED them. Vi literally lashed out everything on Powder, which is understandable. But when she realizes what she's done and goes to cool off. Powder thinks she's abandoning her, and she's scared to follow her because she thinks Vi might attack her again. The sad thing is, that since she's in a shaken-up state. She's assuming the worse and thinks Vi is going to leave her for a 'better life' because she's a 'Jinx'. Then Silco comes and helps her. Silco & Jinx I see a lot of people saying Silco 'created' Jinx. but Jinx states that Jinx was created by Vi. After she slapped Powder, that was her last chance before Jinx began to take over. And yes, I'm not saying Silco is a good person. He's horrible actually, and he did manipulate Jinx to a certain extent. BUT I see people saying he manipulated Jinx that Vi was dead, and that Vi doesn't care about her anymore. This is because this is what he actually thinks. Silco was abandoned and betrayed by Vander, but this is because they had different ideals for Zaun. And Silco is pushing that onto Jinx because he thinks that Vi left her for a better life, just like Powder. That's why when Sevika reports that Vi is back, he says "From the dead?" He knows just as little as Jinx, but people are claiming that he has some insider information. Silco is also abusive, but not to the extent that people think. What I envision the relationship between Silco and Powder/Jinx, is that he took care of a bird with a broken wing. He didn't heal it, but he did try his best to get Jinx through what he thought she was going through, the exact same thing as he did. Silco was giving Jinx the advice his past self would have needed, he didn't know that Marcus arrested Vi, he thought that she died after trying to leave Powder. Now when Jayce offers peace for Zaun in exchange for Jinx and others, Silco immediately offers himself. The feeling of being abandoned by family again is the worst. When they say they're only taking Jinx, Silco deeply considers it, and ultimately comes up with the conclusion that no, Zaun is not worth Jinx. Silco is visibly worried when Jinx is dying from fighting Ekko, he knows Jinx is tough and can go through anything, so he tries to drug her with Shimmer so he can survive, however this was actually a bad option. After the tea party is at its climax, when Vi is trying to run away with Powder/Jinx, Silco is saying NO. I won't offer my daughter for Zaun's independence, why would I offer it for free? Vi hates Silco, but Silco has respect for Vi because she's Vander's daughter and is Jinx's most loved one, she loves her even more than Silco himself. Vi starts to hurt Powder/Jinx again. Whenever Vi tries to do something good, her instinct is to just take it out by force, kind of like pulling out a tooth without a napkin or ANYTHING, and the gum starts bleeding. When Vi tries to tell her that they can start over, Jinx considers, however Caitlyn interrupts. Then Vi butts in again by telling her to envision her dead family, which are the voices that haunt her. As you can see, Silco picks up the gun. However, he doesn't even intend to shoot Vi. You see smoke out of his gun, which means he already fired. There are also bullets NEXT to Vi's head instead of in them. He was just trying to tell her, "Hey, stop trying to hurt my daughter". However Powder thinks that he's trying to hurt Vi, so Powder comes out and shoots him. Then she instantly regrets it. Not just Jinx loves Silco, Powder does too. After Silco says 'You're perfect' it's obvious which is the better person for this damaged Powder/Jinx. Vi is a good person, but she keeps accidentally hurting Powder. She still envisions her as the little girl she was 6 years ago, and chooses Caitlyn over her twice. However Silco prefers Jinx, although he'll still accept Powder as long as she doesn't abandon him. Vi only accepts Powder, while Silco accepts both with open arms, not even giving her for what he's been chasing for all his life. Jinx/Powder is perfect for Silco, but only Powder is perfect for Vi. Anyway that's both of my take, if they all decided to live as a happy family, Caitly, Silco, Vi, and Jinx/Powder, that would be the best outcome, but I think it's too late for Jinx. Thanks for reading THIS REALLY LONG COMMENT, and Sorry for wasting your time.

For once it feels like everyone is in agreement with how good of a character Silco was. He cared about her so much. He wanted to shoot Vi to shut her up. Silco isn't a good person, he's not even a good father, but he cared about Jinx. He only thought of shooting Vi in that moment as a way of helping her... which is absolutely wrong and we all know that but damn was his heart in the right place... for Jinx. I love characters like this. Perfect villains and perfect heroes are boring. Watching Silco struggle to be Zaun's shady leader but also protect Jinx was amazing.

You can say that Silco is a "good father" as he takes care of Jinx and provides for her safety but he's just an incredibly immoral one. He's a villain so you have to except him to do evil and villainous things as they all do.

I genuinely believe silco breaking free wasn't so he can keep jinx (someone who he came to love as family) as a possession, but instead so he could stop her pain as he could clearly see how much she was hurting when Vi was bringing up her memories

This moment made me realize that no matter how much Silco wanted Zaun, he really came to see Jinx as his own daughter. He spent years raising her. He may have used her to get his own ends, but he was willing to sacrifice nearly everything to keep her.

A small detail but I love the wariness in Vi's voice after Silco dies and she says "...Powder?" before trying to comfort Jinx. Kinda highlights more how Vi is still afraid of her unpredictability. I swear my heart was pounding the whole time, not sure what Jinx was going to do next. Simply amazing.

I feel like a lot of people don't understand; there's no going back for Jinx because there was never something to go back to. Jinx *is* Powder. They're just different names for the same person. A girl who grew up in a very violent place and suffered a lot of traumas, who is constantly tormented by the guilt of her greatest mistake. But also a girl who likes the fighting and the violence, who relishes in the chaos and destruction. Jinx's only conflicts were in her love for Vi and her guilt for Mylo and Claggor, but we've never once seen a hint that she doesn't like the person she's become, that there's some facet of Powder trapped inside that can be brought back. For better or worse, this is the person Powder has grown to be.

"I never would have given you to them, not for anything" "Don't cry, you're perfect" I think that these two lines were some of the most emotional lines throughout the whole show. Silco did love Jinx, not like some other shows where the father figure was just using the daughter/son and had no love. I was genuinely so scared that this would happen, but when it didn't, it added a whole other aspect to the show.

How Jinx’s mental state looks so violent, it was so same to me too. I never was a violent person but my visions and sounds I heard felt so as it is seen here too, all the same feels it’s scary.
