Discovering another great female metal vocalist! Social Media: Twitter: / muzednconfuzed Instagram: / muzednconfuzed #archenemy #deadeyesseenofuture #metalreactions
As a Jinjer/Tatiana fan, I'd suggest AE's Nemesis live in Tokyo to see the singer who put AE on the map do her thing. A complication for AE is that this song, like Nemesis was originally written for Angela Gossow who uses a totally different growling style from Alissa called false cord growls. I think of the difference kinda like burst DPS vs sustained DPS in games. Angela spits out short, powerful lines that don't give Alyssa's growls room to flow so she's having to string two short lines at a time together. I don't know what the best song to see Alissa do her thing is.
P.s. do an image search for "Angela Gossow abs". Her growling style requires moving massive volumes of air so she needs those abs to maximize her vocal power.
One of the first song I listened of arch enemy, michael amott is a great guitar player. Looking for arch enemy Angela Gossow, she is the previous vocal.
Arch Enemy is one of the most thrilling to watch! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Guitars were incredible! Taking a small break from Nightwish to explore other bands:) More Nightwish coming soon!
You should react to Nemesis by Arch E. If you want the best live version, react to the Tokyo Show 2008. The former singer Angela is the singer in that show and she is incredible on stage. She began in the band in early 2000:s and now she is the manager of the band. I would say Nemesis is probably their most famous song from the Angela era. And yeah the musicians in the band are amazing! 👌
I definitely recommend checking out some music by Alissa's old band The Agonist while she was still a member to see what she can really do. Her growl/scream type can come off pretty one-note in Arch Enemy, but she's got an absolutely *beautiful* singing voice, as well. "And Their Eulogies Sang Me to Sleep" is practically essential listening, and to really hear what she can do with her clean singing, she did a pretty straight-up version of the classic Swan Lake that's GORGEOUS. Pretty much anything from Alissa's period with The Agonist is recommended. I don't know much about The Agonist's music nowadays with Vicky, though. Edit: I wish Alissa was able to do some clean vocals for Arch Enemy because I really miss hearing them on songs, but I know that's not Arch Enemy's style which is perfectly okay.
Alyssa's work with her old band, The Agonist, was sooooooo much better. So much more versatility. Arch Enemy is really just letting her growl but she has great range. Cheers, Muz.
The band's second singer (This is their fourth), Angela Gossow, who now is their manager, was one of the first really strong female vocalists in metal and she is who brought the band to fame. She had a different growling technique and as far as stage presence is concerned she is still unmatched in my opinion. Someone else suggested Arch Enemy live in Tokyo - Nemesis and that's an awesome example of Angela Gossow's performance. :)
Johann Liiva Angela Gossow Alissa White-Gruz Makes that 3 vocalists. On another note... Dead Eyes See No Future is a poor choice for any vocal reaction. Nemesis for Angela. Eagle Flies for Alissa. And to compare the two either of them doing The Immortal.
I think that Tatiana is the best female metal singer on the scene today. Some other female fronted bands and a good track from each are Conflict (Mechanisms of Life), Spoil Engine (Disconnected), Once Human (Eye Of Chaos), Otep (Battle Ready) and Semblant (What Lies Ahead)
That end solo is just freaking epic! To my knowledge Amott doesn't play it the same with Angela, so this one was a treat! Thank you MadGebs! More AE reactions please!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘😅😅😅🔥🔥🔥🔥
You should react to an older song with Arch Enemy there Angela Gossow is the singer. She is an beast and a lot better then the current singer. Angela joined the band in 2001-2002 and is one of the most famous female growlers of all time. Nemesis and Bloodstained Cross are 2 good songs with them 🙂
While there's no denying that Tatiana is topshelf, I can't help but feel that all these "shock" reaction vids to her are ruining a lot of music for a bunch of people, who are now expecting every female extreme vocalists to pull the exact same things. I mean, one wouldn't expect every male vocalist to pull King Diamond-like high notes. Still, if you're looking to compare her (Tatiana) with other extreme female growlers who can give her a run for her money, here's a few you could check out (the last one dating as far back as 1990): - *Cerebral Bore* (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tG46oJBGhNg.html) - *Sisters of Suffocation* (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u0rTdyYtBUM.html) - *Blackthorn* (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dGJ7sUDEo2k.html) - *Matriarch* (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5-QwIWCTeeI.html) -- audio only - *Mythic* (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aF9M0vetBB0.html) -- audio only Blackthorn and Matriarch have multiple vocalists though -- and incidentally, with the exception of Cerebral Bore, all of these have the added characteristic of being all-female bands, should that pique your curiosity
Here's some more: -Frantic Amber (all female minus the drummer) (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fQTmrxIL7Dw.html) -Izegrim (although, they just broke up, sadly) (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g0g08MjO1w0.html) -Nervosa (all female, I think) (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kk1B3Yk0zIY.html) -Cripper (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ag26sZnH4e8.html) -Angist (never had any super significant releases, unfortunately. Just an EP) (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_u10Ypoi0qQ.html) (Bonus clip for the Angist chick. She does guest vocals on a Skálmöld song where she voices Hel: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O-n_BxhvkVg.html)
Now do this song again but live in Tokyo with Angela Gossow who was their previous vocalist and their now manager. Angela is one of the best vocalists of all time and I would probably say THE best female vocalist. You know how when you first heard Tatiana? When I first heard Gossow back in school maybe 2006/2007 It was the same thing, I couldn't believe she was a female until I saw a video. You need to check her out, she sounds like a fucking demon! 🤣 Respect from The UK! 0121 🤘
Check out Straight Line Stitch - Black Veil. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MS71RSMN_4E.html You'll like it 100%. Also Agonist - Memento Mori is an awesome track. Both tracks and bands are really close to Jinjer in style and sound, it's just that Jinjer is on another level now. I was super-into Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow in 2005, and The Agonist in 2007. After Angela left, and Alissa replaced her, both bands weren't the same for me.
As other people said, the version with Angela is better. the older AE songs were written for Angela's vocal style. The new AE songs are written for Alissa's vocal style and therefore she sound much better on those songs.
Like many others say check AE with older vocalist ( and now business manager of the band ) . She is an Angel(a) , she is what make AE what they are now . P.S. Like some one else say IMO they use wrong Alissa ( current vocalist of the band ) voice power wrong. If you want to check her old band - THE AGONIST - Thank You Pain . Love that song and the range that she use there.
If you like the lead singer, Alissa White-Gluz, you have to check out her original band The Agonist. Panaphobia is a great song from her time with them. If you like female fronted bands, you have to check out Epica!!!! I have seen them live several times, they are awesome!😁
Don't know if you're still reading those comments, but... Loved your reaction ! Also, if you're still interested in bands with female leads (just to check for yourself since you don't seem to upload anymore), you should check Kittie. I like their old stuff better (check Charlotte or Mouthful of Poison), but their new stuff is still pretty good. Plus, they don't just have a female lead, it's an all-female band ! :)
You really should listen to Angela, she is one of the best growlers ever, male or female. Jens in Meshuggah and Glen in Decide are the only two I can think of at her level.
As you eluded to MadGebs, Arch Enemy isn't really about the vocals. It's about the guitars and the purity of the metal sound. The music stands on its own without vocals. Alissa is fantastic though. She does that for 90min straight 200 times a year. No clean singing resting breaks 😆🤘🔥. That requires some olympic level stamina. She's super freaking healthy, let's say that. She also sounds quite different today compared to 2016 when this clip was released. Being in Arch Enemy has changed her. She's turning into a demon. Thanks again and take care. 🤘🔥
If you are into female singers that can also growl and scream, I would definitely recommend Spiritbox, no matter which song - they are all excellent. Courtney LaPlante is the former singer of iwrestledabearonce and founded Spiritbox with the guitarist of mentioned band not long ago. They took their music to a whole other level artistically. Personally, I love their song "Perennial", but also "Belcarra". "Bleach Bath" and all three parts of "The Mara Effect" - this is also available as a live studio session. Marvellous music on the same level as Jinjer, The Agonist or Arch Enemy from the point of musical mastership and expression, although with a very different modern touch that is very interesting in comparison. Highly recommended.
I appreciate your interest in the female screamers, I love so many of them. Your begining a journey and you'll probably find more than your expecting. Umm... Try Dehydrated, Werewolf Abnormality, Collective Calm in Moral Oblivion The Agonist, In Vertigo Irony of Fate, Six Feet Deep Nervosa, Masked Betrayer In This Moment, Oh Lord Cripper, Mother Infected Rain, Mold. These are just some of my favs. These and many other I listen to all of the time. Thanks.
Okay, so Brittney Slayes from Unleash the Archers is not a screamer, but she is still a goddess, a beast, and a badass, so I'm going to recommend Awakening or Cleanse the Bloodlines by Unleash the Archers 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I second this, but to throw in something a bit different, I'd also add their recent cover of Stan Rogers' "Northwest Passage". Canadian folk classic made metal by an excellent Canadian metal band.
To civilize yourself about growling, check Mary Z VoiceHacks channel, she can explain and show differences between growl techniques (not to react, just to educate). Like many people already mentioned, you should react to the brutal and beautiful grandmother of female growl, Angela Gossow, 2nd singer of Arch Enemy. I suggest to start with some official video, like My Apocalypse (slow), Nemesis (fast) or Yesterday is dead and gone (between).
I really like Birthday Massacre. They just have their own sound. And Sara's voice can take me on a great journey. With that said: Sara has never wow'ed me, from a technical point of view. Her vocals become more of nice flowing instrument. Partly because that's just her style, and partly because of the thick layer of reverb and delay on her vocals. I really hate making music a contest of who is more skillful, but these reaction videos many times have that element.
You're right about the quality of Tatiana's vocals - she's "on the top". However, it's nice to listen to a band doing more traditional music with a simpler structure, guitar solo-heavy and with a less convoluted beat. Though I love Jinjer more than I can say, it often takes me half-a-dozen listens to a track to "get it". Arch Enemy plays much more accessible material. Having said that, Jinjer completely dominates my playlist. You might like a Danish all-female band, Konvent. Try "Puritan Masochism". It is ponderous, massive and monstrous. Also very catchy.
Hi Muzit, don't know how to best adress this to you as I was supposed to write this already some days back (don't know if you read the previous video's comments anymore), thus I'll address this here. If you wish to marvel in awe of the experience and be carried away by the spectacle, you should try Nightwish's: The Greatest Show on Earth (the live version from Ratina, Tampere). I recommend you help yourself to some lyrics too, for it is a tale and a half. Not so bone crushing heavy as Arch Enemy but something a bit different :-)
react original performer of that song, heres one her finest ones: ARCH ENEMY - Blood On Your Hands (live At TOKYO) or performances like We Will Rise or Nemesis from that same show, its good start :D (PS: am not diss current one, likening her too/dispate AG is the one for me, but unlike some ppl, i do Not pitching about that in all AE react vids like some ppl u proberly seening sometimes)
if your interested in listening to some space fantasy power metal, gloryhammer is a dope band in my opinion, self titled track should be a decent place to start
I'm not a huge fan of Alissa's vocals in comparison to Arch Enemy's first singer Johan, or 2nd Angela. Also on top of that, you notice the music more, because the instrumental portion of Arch Enemy is so good. So much melody along with fast tempo agressive riffs. You should check out Tyrants Of The Rising Sun - Live In Japan with Angela singing.
Arch Enemy is fun. I'd still recommend checking into Band Maid when you get a chance. Here's there most recent release: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CQ9dbEVgZcA.html
Good song and good review. They have a big following, as you can see from the crowd. They need to step up their game because Jinjer is better and coming in the rear view mirror 100 mph faster.
I don't think I agree with Tatyana having a better commandyou can hear in the song but the singer for Arch enemy she can really sing just look up her previous band
I agree with you. Alissa is limited by Arch Enemy. On the next album she promises there will be clean vocals too. I love Tatiana but there's a lot of people saying she's 'the best'...(whatever the best is)... without really looking at the other female screamers out there. Myself, I like so many of them and I do love Jinjer but the reality for me is, that's just one band. 🤘🤘🤘
You have read it already. But Angela is better than Tatiana and the current AE singer. Also you meed to check out Unleash the Archers Brotney for clean vocals. She is one of the best vocalist in any genre. Try "Tonight we Ride" she shows range. You are amazing.
Alissa is a'ight. Angela Gossow is way better! You gotta watch the concert with Angela in Japan. It's called Tyrants of the Rising Sun. There are dozens of videos with Angela on RU-vid.
Hi, would love to see you react to Australian prog metal band Ne obliviscaris and plague flowers the kaleidoscope or any of there songs will do. Cheers
There old singer Angela gossow is way better singer especially live if you look it this exact song live music sounds pretty much the same but she’s way better
Arch Enemy is real. This is just not a very good song of theirs. Try Handshake with Hell (maybe the official video) or Eagle Flies Alone with Alyssa or Nemesis live with Angela.
