You are very confused in terms of your ecclesiology - ask an expert before proceedings further. By teaching formal heresy and obstinately adhering to it he has lost the Petrine Office, even if he were validly elected which is highly unlikely.

And venial sins are snooze. *The popes failed* terribly by NOT identifying Casti Cannubii and Humanae Vitae as ex cathedra declarations of faith and morals to the universal church. And there were statements, in both, that were false. I don't disagree with the central teachings in HV. But it was poorly written and used circular reasoning.

Same with Casti Cannubii. *Not every word that drips from the mouth of a pope is infallible.* Humanae Vitae was a poorly written document by the ambiguous Paul VI, who also promulgated the irreverent Novus Ordo Mass.
