Yay another bona fide joiner who is actually showing real skills rather than look at my fancy tools. Great work.

Great work. Those square hole cutters don’t get a very good rating but by the looks of things, they work quite well. Great video mate

I always use a starting pin when I shape curves, keeps it from biting hard or throwing the part across the room. And I made all my live collars out of 3/8 inch aluminum and make them press fit. If there not tight enough use lock tite, I have about 30 in 1/16 in increments so I can index. However his work does look nice

yeah it is a bit sketchy starting a cut like like that! ive been planning on doing a follow up to add an anti kickback device and also a dust hood/guard for it. my moulder doesnt have a hole to just thread a pin in so i need to concoct something! do the aluminium ones leave a mark when you first touch? ive seen some people use a device that just slightly touches the ring to keep it from spinning.

@@NewYorkshireWorkshop You could get a machinist to bore and tap a hole in the top of your spindle moulded for a starter pin...🤔 Or you could do it yourself. Top notch craftsmanship Sir, you are the balls! 👍😁🔨🇮🇪

When I was a kid I was naturally infatuated with wood working , just building things, I think watching my grandfather make /carve me a wooden toy did that I must have been 3 or 4

What kind of bearing collar are you using? Where can you get it ?
@NewYorkshireWorkshop
@NewYorkshireWorkshop 4 года назад
The full build is here- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iv39j8WhVlg.html The bearing is an F6906ZZ flanged bearing, it has a 30mm ID to suit my spindle. I got it from simply bearings- simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p155671/F6906ZZ-Budget-Metal-Shielded-Flanged-Thin-Section-Deep-Groove-Ball-Bearing-30x47x9mm/product_info.html unfortunately they dont seem to be available for 1.1/4" imperial spindles so if you have that you may need to use a plain bearing like a KLNJ1-1/4ZZ which is 1/2" wide so you would need to make thicker guide rings and then either have the flange in the guide ring or a set of retaining screws on both sides.

How is the elektra beckum tf 904 shaper, i am thinking of buying one would you recommend it?
@NewYorkshireWorkshop
@NewYorkshireWorkshop 2 года назад
it is sound, i bought it second hand about 9 years ago and havent had any problems with it. i like the winding knob for moving the fence for plunging into sacrificial fence planks (makes it less nerve racking), and for fine adjustment. it is a nice little moulder for trade/ light industrial use.

@@NewYorkshireWorkshop thanks for the quik reply, I'm really fond of it. Nice compact machine, instead of the huge shapers typically found in shops where i have worked here in Germany. P. S. Absolutely stunning work keep it up 👍

Why you used rabbet bit and profile bit separately?
@NewYorkshireWorkshop
@NewYorkshireWorkshop 5 лет назад
HiHugo. It is because the rebates are only 8mm deep, most cutter sets are designed for deeper rebates for standard sealed units. My glass is low sightline glass with "heritage spacer". If i used standard sealed units the muntins would need to be about 44mm which look horrible.
