I caught the IG Live. I always enjoy listening to Josh Jones. Dude is pretty well an archery thesaurus. So packed full of knowledge. Not only that, but the dude can really shoot, especially at long distances. Bow Disciples needs the mullet back. Just doesn’t seem right without it

Great listen, as a guy that goes back to the Mathews Ultra Max time period I remember shooting 350g arrows, 2.5 Vortec Mechanical and feathers. We killed everything that walked. I’d never heard of this heavy/Foc trend until the last few years. A few grand later wasting money I’m right back to my 425 and mech build. We are in the age of “know to much for our own good”.

I like mech and fixed heads, but I always tune with a big fixed blade to make sure my arrows are flying as true as possible. I also prefer a lower poundage speed bow over a high poundage slower bow. My 60 pound SR6 at 29" draw with a 425-475 grain arrow is plenty for anything in North America.

No one wants to talk about bow noise and bow vibration. Why does an animal jump the string? Is it arrow noise or bow noise? I'd argue it's bow noise. The reason a bow makes noise is because the excess kinetic energy transfers to the bow instead of the projectile. A heavier arrow absorbs more of that energy over a lighter arrow, albeit the heavier arrow will be slower off the bow. With the extra absorbed energy however, more momentum is gained with the heavier arrow. This leads to more penetration, given a structural sound arrow build, flying straight with a razor sharp broadhead. The heavier arrow does have it's benefits. It's is easier on your bow and components as they absorb more of that energy. Don't be so quick to discount them. Speed is not everything. Just to be clear, when I say heavier, I mean between 550-600. Essentially, an extra 100 gr up front in either your insert or broadhead. They perform very well and my bow is quiet.

Heres my theory and im always right ( lol) cam lean matters throughout the draw cycle . At full draw and at rest . The arrow doesn’t leave the string at full draw .

I could never get used to the bowtech in performance, I gave 4 of them a fair try, like 2-4weeks, thats at 28"s, bowtechs I had were the realmx, revoltx, sr6, and solution. I wish I could as its a huge speed difference

I have a Bowtech BTX31 that’s blown up on me 3 times. I just had another set of limbs put on it like 2months ago. I’m a huge Bowtech fan but they definitely had limb issues for awhile

What makes MFJJ a genius? What is his background, was he an Olympic archer or something?

Great start to a podcast, but the audio quality is almost unbearable. I stopped listening 15 minutes in because it sounded like a phone call with a bad connection. Same thing with the one you did with MFJJ and Ranch Fairy. If you’re taking the time to do these it would be nice if you could figure out a way to get clean audio. Thanks for getting these guys together and the information you are trying to share

whats your guys take on shooting a "speed" bow like a z1s at 60lb vs a "regular" bow at 70lb?

Everybody has the perfect arrow until the animal starts shooting back. I myself killed an elephant with a 410 grain arrow at 115 yards after he pulled an AK on me. South Korea can get crazy in the morning just saying.

I wish someone would tell people that a perfect bullet hole thru paper is not what you want for fixed blades. You don't want to be balanced on the head of pin from shot to shot----you want a bias so on average with less than a flawless release shot to shot the arrow still wants to go where it's sighted in for. This was well known to good tuners in in the 80's and that knowledge has been lost to the younger experts
