Archie Roach is a truly gifted and inspiring talent. Born at Framlingham Aboriginal mission, Warrnambool in south western Victoria, Archie was taken from his family at an early age as part of the notorious 'stolen generation'.
Uncle Archie is now getting older but his story and life experiences contained in his songs is a powerful message for all Australians, white and first nations people. We have the opportunity to unite and live our lives as one Nation. If you listen carefully to Uncle's words, in all of music he sends this powerful message to us all. Uncle has suffered at the hands of injustice and prejudice like so many First Nation people yet he still finds it in his heart to forgive and work for true reconciliation. He is truly one of this Countries great indigenous peacemakers. I am an indigenous Australian woman but I have dedicated my life and my beliefs to honouring the same beliefs. Thank you Uncle.
Brother Archie is a hell of a role model for all people black, white , any colour, creed or race. He overcomes prejudice, racism and hatred using his love of music and expression of his faith and his cultural beliefs. A great first Australian man with a lesson to give to all.

Half way round the world from this man's land. In a place where our (my) people's history is one of oppression of many races. But I listen to this and am healed by it. Keep playing it over the past few days.
I wish this music could be played in our schools what a beautiful lesson for our children to learn and the harmony just places you in such a lovely place, so beautiful to listen to :)
diane9247 Hello from Australia, Diane. l call Archie's music, 'IndigenousSoul'. All his songs are stories of his life. A life full of challenges, because of the dreadful way our society/gov't's has been with our indigenous people. l grew up 40 miles from where he was born - but l didnt know we had any aboriginal people living near us. They had to stay in their delegated area, and didn't mix in normal society unless they had a special registration. Many families had their little children taken away by the gov't, and put into orphanages. Archie was one of them. Its a disgusting history, that has caused so much sadness and caos. lt still hardly gets talked about. It all makes Archie's music very valuable.
Got to know of Archie and his music five six years ago when spending some work time down there, sad how many many Australians view and speak of Archie's people, wish he could live forever and get many more neuvo aussies to understand how fortunate they are to have such a culture to embrace in their midst, pissed me off so many times to listen to hear people speak so badly of true and original australians
