The opening verse conjures up so many memories for any Australian. Long car trips in the back seat coming back from holidays. Always gives me a shiver up my spine when I hear this.
I saw him in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the U.S.A. in 2002. The opening act Freedy Johnson didn’t show up so Paul and band gave an extra long set. It was amazing. For the closer Paul let guitarist Spencer P Jones have a crack at singing. He sang The Band’s classic “It Makes No Difference,” which was also amazing.
I absolutely adore this song Paul!! Brilliantine!! And the Sonnets with Paul G fantastic! You're bringing Shakespeare's to a whole new generation. 🪬🌹🌿💫
Just heard this song on CBC radio (Canada). I had to find it on RU-vid. Sent it to those I know will find it as emotionally touching as I have. Thanks.
Paul........... I'm 6'3 127kg's & You got me struggling to type through the tears here...... crying like a small boy here again... thank You mate!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
This song reminds me when I was young and going on a road trip sitting in the back of the car , fighting with my two brothers ,and having fun ,too make the time go quicker, our dad telling us to keep quiet
Paul ...as a young boy I can remember every year at Xmas time our family,me and my two older sisters would head off on our annual adventure.. driving for hours every day to reach some amazing disternation my father had dreamed of seeing...I'll never forget how much those times impacted who I am today.... Hearing this song for the first time awoken memories in me that I had forgotten, but now my heart is singing because of you....its like we have lived the same......
Had the pleasure of seeing Paul at the Scala club London a good few years back. Great company too. 5 aussies who took the pee outta me and my mate Rob. No anger or upset as we took the piss back. A great gig on a great night. Just what life should be about. Fun Fun Fun. Some in life should take note but just dont mention the cricket lol
Paul is simply the best....all his songs reflect life experiences and seem to be from the heart, whether happy or sad.... I was lucky enough to see him perform in London some years ago.
Paul came to Tathra pub when I was a kid , how lucky I was to see such great live music at our local pub. Now because of insurance and other costs that occur , musicians don’t get a chance to be heard live it seems to be all on line and and something a miss!!
Ah, ...... that’s for you to imagine. The beauty of this song is in its revelation of the personal in a way that you can place yourself in that late night car ride, and thing your own conclusion..... 💖
