Maria Shriver sits down with Architect of Change Tina Knowles Lawson to talk about motherhood and raising strong, smart women. Miss Tina is Beyoncé, Solange and Kelly Rowland's mother.
I personally love the fact that Bey and Jay and Solo are private in this oversharing social media state. Too many celebrities nowadays are being known off their antics and not their pure talents. I was a huge Tamar Braxton fan until she started putting ALL of her business out there for the vultures to destroy and break down. Just put it in the music. Beyoncé ain’t letting nothing in her private life come out for free and I commend that.
Candie P I disagree with you and SunChild, being private means you have something to hide. I understand not sharing what you ate for breakfast 1 day, but it's admirable when you let your fans in to get to know the real YOU. Unless of course, you have something to hide or have some sort of insecurity.
How does that translate into having something to hide, This age of oversharing proves why they dont share alot. I respect that I can love them for their art and not their personal lives. This tactic will hopefully allow them to raise well adjusted children etc. Both ladies put a great deal of themselves in the art if you take the time to decipher it.
But i wonder how Kelly's real parents feel to hear both of Beyonce's parents say that they raised Kelly too. I wonder if they resent that public declaration.
Dani Styles Kelly’s mom is now deceased and her father didn’t raise her and she was under her guardianship from 10 to adulthood, that’s not staying with THAT’S raising!
@@FCLaney yes, her father recently resurfaced and Kelly has always been included in the Knowles household. At one point Beyonce and Kelly lived together and Beyonce and Solange have consistently referred to Kelly as their sister. One interview years ago, Solange said she has known to have only two sisters growing up.
TheActivistBook I mean kelly lived with Beyoncé while she was in Destiny’s Child so Kelly considered Tina to be like her Second Mother and Tina is still there to support Kelly it doesn’t mean to be shady towards Kelly’s mom Kelly still loves her mom but some people have more than one parental figure in their life and Tina was one of those people for Kelly
if u havent heard mrs tinas story she has an amazing story. what a beautiful spirit. i struggled as a single mom and i feel bad because i couldnt expose my daughter to a whole lot. she's 21 now and she is amazing. i knew i put a few gems in her including going to church which will prayerfully turn into a relationship with God.
Tina Knowles is beautiful inside and out and i now understand why her daughters went on to become so successful, with a mother like her they were bound to be winners.
I like that wheb she speaks she looks at you in the eyes to engage you. I like people like that. Its true she grew up in poverty and her parents were good looking and intellectual despite their limited means so she always dreamed of being a classy Lady so she can be a bit materialistic, but at the same time, she has a good heart. She is real and connected to herself. I think i"?'d like her if i met her.
You know what MARIA SHRIVER is AN AWESOME interviewer!! You never really even notice it's an interview. And Tina reminds me of my mom in so many ways...like how she raised us, living her own life as she gets older, and even where they grew up. It's ridiculous!

I love how she talks about creating an environment where negativity is not welcome. I have found that having a positive focus in your life allows you not to be veered off into anything negative that's going on around you or even to that negative part that's in yourself. For me that light that shines brightly in the darkness is the creative mind. It's the sun in my life for sure.
Maria Shriver is another woman who dances to the beat of her own drum. Ms Tina, you are a phenomenal woman. I'm glad you are no longer hiding. You are a beautiful work in progress and your wisdom is a lesson to us all. Thank you for mothering and nurturing others with your pure heart and your life experiences. Your realness and your transparency are priceless.
Maria shriver is an amazing woman and a great interviewer...and ms tina was/is an amazing mother...that explains why her kids are superstars ...she did a lot of the right things to build successful children

@Lee B Tina's parents were practically Quadroons.....they were creole people of colour with heavy admixture of Acadians and French creole.... according to her family tree Censuses all her 4 great grandfathers were WHITE and her great Grandmothers were biracial(black moms and white dads) born or just mixed....

Tina is not being truthful about no negativity in her hair salon. I went with my sister once to the salon, and my sister was doing commercials & extra work. (This was way before Beyonce was anybody, in fact, Destiny's Child used to practice in the salon.) My sister was receiving a hair consultation from Tina herself...and we both watched Tina be condescending & dismissive. Once Tina realized that my sister couldn't help Destiny's Child "come up," she actually walked out of the actual consulatation & had the receptionist come and tell us that "Ms Tina is too busy, she's going to have somebody else deal with you." THAT's who she is. No hate, no tea, no shade, but Tina is a dark, septic & nasty energy. Her face is as grotesque as her character. #my truth
