For all your indie t-shirt needs, head to: shop.bluecorner... The Arctic Monkeys headlining Reading Festival on the 29th of August 2009. Song: Fluorescent Adolescent
Lemme just say: I love it when you know all of the words to a song, and you're listening to it live on RU-vid and singing along ... but then the audience is singing along TOO and it feels like you're a part of the crowd and you're there.... and then you start crying because you're actually not and this was basically eight years ago.
Poor Flo, she sees her youth passing by and feeling nostalgic about the good old days, trying to find love in the wrong places at different stages of life.
2009's era of Fluorescent Adolescent, as in Fluorescent Adolescent during 2009 when they introduced the organ for the humbug album, they still played other songs you know, open your mind a little bit
I love it now even more than original version. At this slow part, my heart just filled with peace and happiness. Can't even imagine how blessful was being at this gig
Daniel Morales I wanna see something that used to be in your eyes again, I'm waitin' to see it, you know it's only a question of when, And I know how much I'm missin' heaven, You know that it's missin' And only you know where you have been to, Only you know what you have been through, But there's better things you're gonna get into, And I wanna be there too.
+Carlos Garcia Enzian +Enzi Stuff +Carlos Garcia Enzian he says We're gonna leave you now. I think if I'm just brusk about it like that it's better that way.. it's easier, its easier for me.. that way. But we're gonna leave you with Fluorescent Adolescent as a parting gift."
Lyrics to the bit from Only You Know: I wanna see something That used to be in your eyes again, I'm waitin' to see it, You know it's only a question of when And I know how much I'm missin' heaven You know that it's missin' And only you know where you have been to, Only you know what you have been through, But there's better things you're gonna get into, And I wanna be there too
You used to get it in your fishnets Now you only get it in your night dress Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness Landed in a very common crisis Everything's in order in a black hole Nothing seems as pretty as the past though That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco Remember when you used to be a rascal? Oh, the boy's a slag, the best you ever had The best you ever had is just a memory and those dreams Not as daft as they seem, not as daft as they seem My love, when you dream them up Flicking through a little book of sex tips Remember when the boys were all electric? Now when she's told she's gonna get it I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it Clinging to not getting sentimental Said she wasn't going but she went still Likes her gentlemen not to be gentle Was it a Mecca dauber or a betting pencil? Oh, the boy's a slag, the best you ever had The best you ever had is just a memory and those dreams Weren't daft as they seem, not as daft as they seem My love, when you dream them up oh, Flo Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? *Only You Know* I wanna see something that used to be in your eyes again, I'm waiting to see it, you know it's only a question of when, And I know how much I'm missing heaven, You know that it's missing And only you know where you have been to, Only you know what you have been through, But there's better things you're gonna get into, And I wanna be there too. You're falling about You took a left off Last Laugh Lane Just sounding it out But you're not coming back again You're falling about You took a left off Last Laugh Lane You were just sounding it out But you're not coming back again You used to get it in your fishnets (Falling about) Now you only get it in your night dress Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness (You took a left off Last Laugh Lane) Landed in a very common crisis Everything's in order in a black hole Nothing seems as pretty as the past though (You were just sounding it out) (You're not coming back again) That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco Remember when you used to be a rascal?
I believe someone else has already said it but I'll say it again. That portion after only you know and going back into the song always has this powerful and profound effect. It's like what nostalgia would sound if it were a song
arkceit arjun: the song is about a woman who was wild and kinky (and therefore interesting and fun) when she was younger, who had become much more tame when she got older. The speaker remembers her being much more 'alive' in her wilder days, and he misses the time when she had let her true personality shine through in its boldness, instead of feeling like she had to become 'proper' with age. I think there's something about this song that's very gentle and endearing, despite the obvious talk of sex and explicit stuff, because it doesn't depict all that in a cheapening or negative light. Instead there's the implication that when Flo was having fun and not holding back or embarrassed, that was when he had liked her the most.
+Rainy Jane Its the time. You always miss the past. She must have had her reasons. I dont't believe anyone wants to go mild with time. But she did. Maybe she fell in love or maybe she just went. Women want to get stability and so they are willing to let go of the one they love. Thanks! I thought it was about a girl leaving her home. 😂😂
