The size of later model 4x4s has really been the push for larger tires. 35s were king from the 70s to the 00s. But with the JK being so much larger then a TJ and an f150 now making an OBS look like a ranger, 37s kinda became necessary.
To air down, side wall depth is necessary. Saw a pic from SEMA a Jeep with 20" wheels. The rubber band tires will get snake bite ( people who ride road bicycles know what I mean) punctures/failures are increased. Plus the ride softness is compromised when you air down and have large diameter wheels.
I've wheeled 20" rims with 32.8" tall tires before 😂 seemed fine air down to 20psi. I now have 17" rims with 33.2" tall tires since I wanted the dot legal bead locks (aka Icon rebound pro's). 😂 Snow is my terrain of choice.
Unless you want to replace wheel bearings often put them on. You must have a dodgy mechanic who likes to give dodgy pink slips if you live in Australia. Wheel spacers are a defect head up to Qld and glass house mountain see if the cops approve.
@@adsconlabouring Literally no different than changing your wheel offset. People who say this have no idea what they are talking about, and are just repeating a falsehood.
I run 18 in Sahara rims with mud tires and they get scratched up for sure but they haven’t popped a bead yet and I’ve had nothing but fun off-roading my Jeep
My F150 came with 20s and a 32in tire. I switched to a 17 and a 35. Even tho it’s just a 35 they look huge next to the stock wheel/tire with that much sidewall. I just can’t stand big wheels and tires with no sidewall.
Well, I’m trying to run 45s or bigger😅 so a 17 inch rim is the most common rim size for large tires. Other than that it’s either a 20 or a 24 to be able to run 58s and then try and find a off-set beadlock rim in a 17x anything is hard to find
right now my lifted sahara has 18 inch rims and the tires are 35 inch by 12.50. I thought about getting 17s because theres more rims and tires to choose from in that size buuuut id have to buy an entire 5 piece set
How do you feel about bolt on spacers like the ones in the video? 1” spacers are what I need to get the figment I want but I’m on the fence about them.
17s are too big for most jeeps. Unless you are running 39"+ tires, you should be on 15" wheels. Much more sidewall = better traction and handling on and off road.
I also have a 99 Jeep XJ, with 15” rim. I am planning to put 33” tire with 3.5 “ lift on, it should be Ok. I am not too sure about the brand of the lift though.
